Karpyne — Hotel in Kaunas County

Short review version: waited 50 minutes for some couscous and carrots. Longer version: We arrived at Karpyne at around 7 pm on a Friday. It's just off the A1 highway near Raseiniai. The location seemed to be nice and well taken care off, but we were more interested in the restaurant. So, we headed straight for it. We decided to get a table inside since the noise coming from the highway was quite loud. The first thing we noticed that was a bit strange was that there was no one to greet and escort us to be seated. I'd imagine that that should be expected at a restaurant. Anyway, there were QR codes for the menu. The prices are on the medium-high side. We chose to eat a Ceasar salad and a "Carp steak". We waited for 15 minutes and not one of the staff paid any attention to us. So we decided to go to the bar and order there. None of the staff seemed to be busy. They were just cleaning cutlery and seemed to be ignoring us. Took them a few minutes to acknowledge us. After finally placing our order we come to the short version of my review. We waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive. Add the 15 minutes and you get almost an hour waiting time. The restaurant wasn't even busy. The people next to us were also waiting for their food for a long time and were asking when will it arrive. The Ceasar salad was just Okay. Just very ordinary. The "Carp steak" , however, was missing the fish part. It just had some fish bones and some skin and just a minute amount of actual fish meat. So, what I got was some couscous and carrots. Needless to say I didn't try eating it because there was nothing to eat. I returned the dish and at least they were willing to refund my "Carp steak". In conclusion, I do not recommend to eat here. You will be better off stopping...

First of all the staff was great there, especially security guy. He was welcoming, funny, and friendly to talk. The area outside is pretty for walking, fishing, picnics. Inside is cozy, good atmosphere, clean, room is also very clean, despite of everyone walking with shoes, carpets were perfectly clean. We had a balcony and we were happy about It (allows smoking without going somewhere else). Unfortunately the main pond was drained, we got a broken fishing rod, so we didn't notice because of excitement, later we had to be extremely careful... So please check before you go fishing. Ponds seemed empty and It was very boring, we saw only very small fishes. Later we went to SPA, It was swimming pool, jaccuzi and sauna. At 9pm we tried to go to their restaurant, It was closed, but working hours on main doors were announcing 11pm closing - working days 9pm closing - weekends. We were there on working days, so make sure or ask about It, because later you need to end up with a gas station's sandwiches 😁. Breakfast was really good, we loved It. Because of covid situation, staff services you, with all their breakfast options straight...

Stayed for 2 nights, although the room was outstanding, right on the lake, we had initial issues with the air conditioning and switching on the TV, which the security guy was sent to sort out!!!!!|The first night the meal in the restaurant was fine, however, the second night in the restaurant my wife wasn’t happy and sent her meal back to the kitchen and when we came to pay the staff were argumentative as to why the meal was sent back, which I thought was unprofessional, and the customer is always right, apparently!!|The final issue we had was no hot water in the room, we reported it to reception and we were given the option of using another room in the hotel and given a key to use shower another room|Whilst this place is an outstanding location and such a peaceful place it was let down by simple things which shouldn’t be an issue when paying for a service which is expected when booking an hotel room, basic needs severely lacking |I was very disappointed as myself and my wife were celebrating a very special occasion and felt very let down|If you like fishing and hate showering this is the ideal...
