Linelis, hotel - restaurant — Hotel in Telsiai County

I suspect we were the only people staying the night we visited this hotel so it was very quiet. Our family room turned out to be two rooms with a hallway and bathroom so plenty of space for four of us. The whole place looked like it could do with redecorating but it was all very clean. Breakfast wasn’t the usual buffet but a choice off a menu. I don’t know if there was a limit to the number of items we could choose(!) but what we had was very good. Likewise the evening meal – very tasty, which is fortunate because there isn’t really anywhere else close by to go!||||The hotel had a pool but that didn’t appear to be open. There is also a small beach on the lake next to the hotel but this is shared with an adjacent campsite and locals so was quite busy and a bit grubby. Good swimming for kids though as the depth is not much more than a couple of feet for a long way out.||||The staff were very friendly and helpful, which extended to calling out their handyman to find an allen key so that I could remove the hub cap from a wheel with a punctured tyre. Six weeks after making a confirmed booking here, I got an e-mail one day before our arrival saying the hotel was cancelling our reservation because they had booked a wedding which would take all the rooms. It was high season and when I asked the hotel staff to assist us in finding a replacement accommodation nearby they were completely unhelpful and did nothing but send us the same list of hotels I could find online. I spent well over 2 hours on-line desperately trying to find someplace else nearby without success. We ended up staying about 30 kilometers away at a higher priced place. To add insult to injury the staff member with whom I spoke hardly acknowledged how outrageous cancelling a confirmed reservation was, saying something like "Well, you would not want to stay here anyway because it will be very noisy with the wedding." I received a gift coupon for a night stay at this hotel. The receptionist was very rude at the very beginning and continued being so. Later on we found out that the hotel doesn't provide ANY entertainment option listed in its website (bikes, water bikes, sauna and swimming pools, pool, table tennis - nothing!!!). The receptionist didn't even apologise for not having anything to offer. A week before I had asked about spa services and was told I'll be able to book them when arrived.
