My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights while I was on business.||||The location is great and it looks good from the outside. The hotel was very good about letting us stay there with our small dog. The underground car-park is easy to access, makes access to the reception area easy and is secure.||||However, we found more negatives during our stay than positives, unfortunately.||||Check-in was very swift and efficient and we made our way to our (non smoking) room. The room is spacious but we immediately noted it was suffering from a strong air-freshener odour. We realised later that evening this seemed to be an attempt to mask the smell of smokers in the room before. The longer we stayed in the room, the stronger the stale smoke smell became. It was never too bad for us to ask to move but it was there. The carpet and other parts of the decor were very worn and need refreshing.||||The TV has plenty of channels but all of them are French or German. However, the free Wifi is good, available throughout the hotel and allowed us to watch Netflix in our room.||||Interestingly, the ground floor has clearly been modernised recently. Possibly we were just ahead of a renovation wave.||||Service is a problem at this hotel, possibly because there are very few people around, so finding someone to help can be a challenge. For example, the barman did not know what the cocktails were that were on promotion at the bar, getting a drink in the bar could take some time, the barman also seemed to be serving in the restaurant, while meal orders were taken swiftly and then served fast, there was little follow up once the food was served.||||One evening we were both irritated for the staff to be re-organising the dining room around us, while we were eating. Noisy, distracting and unnecessary.||||We had 2 evening meals in the Brasserie and both were good. Not exceptional, quite pricey but a good selection and quite tasty.||||Breakfast provides a good, simple buffet selection, including some great croissants. However, there was no-one around to serve, despite the advertised 'cooked eggs' available on table menus. The only eggs available were boiled eggs we had to make ourselves. Despite having superb looking espresso/cappuccino machines in the bar, no-one was available to serve fresh coffee in the mornings and we had to rely on stewed, black coffee in pots.||||Check-out was swift and efficient again.||||A good location, nice hotel but seriously let down by smelly rooms and lacking service.||||We will not return, given the wide choice of oher, better hotels in the...
Read moreWe cannot say enough good things about Hotel Dahm. Nathalie and the staff were so friendly, accommodating, and made us feel right at home. After an incident with a taxi driver the first night, we didn't arrive until midnight. Nathalie so gratuitously waited up until we arrived and tried to rectify the situation with the taxi driver.||||Even though the Inn was remodeled in the most beautiful decor, the rooms themselves still kept their authentic European charm. After an amazing nights' sleep in the most comfortable beds, we were presented with a delicious European breakfast with everything you could imagine. From croissants and bread, to fresh fruit and yogurt, to an assortment of meats/cheeses, coffee/tea/juice, smoked salmon, scrambled or hard-boiled eggs…it was the perfect way to start our morning!||||The reason we made this trip to Luxembourg was to visit the American WWII cemetery to visit the grave-site of a family member. After the situation with the taxi driver, Nathalie and her husband Aloin so graciously offered for him to take us to the cemetery and show us the city from a locals' point of view. We saw more than we could have imagined, had a fabulous day getting to know Aloin, and loved learning about the history of Hotel Dahm and the four generations that this lovely bed and breakfast has been in their family.||||We ended the day with a 5-star delicious French dinner in their immaculate dining area. We enjoyed drinks in their lovely lounge, and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and grounds at the hotel.||||Needless to say, the staff at Hotel Dahm, and the amazing family hospitality they provided us, created an unforgettable Luxembourg experience. We are forever grateful for our new Luxembourg family. If you ever find yourself visiting the Luxembourg countryside (it is a bit of a drive from Luxembourg City), you will not be disappointed with this delightful and charming Inn. Thank you Nathalie, Aloin, and staff for an unforgettable...
Read moreHotel Dahm is a good hotel. It is located in Erpeldange, a small village in Luxembourg. The rooms are quite old but have comfortable beds and pillows. The bathroom is great and has a huge bad. There is no airconditioning in the room which is a big disadvantage in my personal opinion. For now it was okay to sleep during the night but in the morning it got really hot in the room. We were lucky we weren't visiting during the heatwave because it would've been impossible to sleep. The room was however clean and very quiet at night. The breakfast was also good with a variety of choice (croissants, yoghurt, fresh fruit, bread, eggs, salmon,...). Eventhough it was mid august there was barely anyone staying at the hotel which we liked very much because it was very calm. We ate at the brasserie and the food was good, not great but good nonetheless. We really liked the fact that there was a menu each noon for €14. The waiters were very kind. This can not be said of the receptionist (Natalie) who wasn't very friendly and came across a bit rude even somewhat arrogant at times. However, she did speak English and French so that was nice. We also had the opportunity to use the bikes and they were great! This made it a lot easier to see some more of the region. In our deal we also had the 3 course gastronomic menu. This was very dissapointing. We wanted to sit inside but they quite literally chased us outside (where we had to protect our food from the wasps). This was while there was plenty of room inside (this was still the case when we left). They served us Carpaccio, fish as a main course (which we do not eat, and there was no alternative meat option or anything) and as a dessert sorbet. For all the above reasons I give this...
