This is a review for the brasserie and not the hotel itself.||We visited the restaurant on a Friday evening. The restaurant was full. We waited 20 minutes to get the drinks orders taken and no one talked to us during this time. We were actually thinking about leaving... while waiting we saw other guests that arrived after us being served...||When finally the drinks order was taken the waitress apologized for the long waiting time. She has been practically serving the entire full floor while the floor manager was randomly serving some clients. The waitress has been very professional and very nice throughout the night and we observed that she has been doing a hell of a job. ||The food is of good quality, however seriously overpriced for the location and the level of service. You see these prices in the very city centre of Luxembourg and with way better overall service.||the food:|Bread was served with olives, not particularly good quality rolls . There was no butter provided.|Salmon with risotto: delicious and huge salmon!|Chicken salad: bad tasting chicken, nothing special |Meat ( hamburger): decent and seemed to be a popular choice among guests. |We ordered a trio of strawberries as desert which consisted of:|- a strawberry sorbet (delicious)|- one strawberry cut up into pieces (???)|- cream tarte with 4 small pieces of strawberry on top (all together one half of a strawberry). It really looked cheap and lacked any phantasy. All this for 9 euros. |- Creme brûlée: the crust is not “cracking” and not even but quantity is huge.||We...
Read moreWe visited this hotel a week ago, at the end of August and were using the government voucher as payment that the luxemborgish authorities so kindly distributed to residents.|The village can be reached by public transport (we took bus 445 that is direct from the city) which is free. So you do not necessarily need a car.|We stayed in the pavillon and found the rooms were super big and very modern and new. There is even a small fridge with water and chocolate. A kettle with tea/coffee is also provided. The staff was super nice and kind and let us in already around 2 pm. The hotel seems to be a biking Centre, there is air for the bikes on site as well as some tools. The surroundings are nice, a calm little village with a renovated and well maintained medieval castle and a lovely river beneath. A few walking/cycling paths around.|The breakfast was delicious, it is a buffet but a lot of care is given to hygiene, ie guests are provided plastic gloves and have to wear masks when selecting items at the buffet table. Items are wrapped, except for bread. Ham and cheese are provided separately and directly from the kitchen. The tables are a bit close though since the breakfast place is very small and also hosts the reception which is only a counter with a till. The only observation is that the brasserie can’t be approached directly from the pavillon building, so when it rains which it did, you have to take your umbrella. |We were very pleased and would love to return to try the...
Read moreWe stayed at the hotel and had dinner at the restaurant so will review both separately.
Hotel: If you stay in one of the mushrooms, be aware the climb to your bed is quite steep, not suitable for older or young guests. It also gets quite warm up in these rooms, the top window that you can open yourself actually closes when it rains. But a very nice experience for one night. The room in the main building was very standard but very comfy also. Breakfast was excellent, really nice fresh bread. Coffee could be improved to be honest and the croissants didn’t taste very fresh but then again we were not in France (yet).
Restaurant: wonderful dinner with great service. Cheerful lady doing everything she could to make us happy. Lovely steak tartare, great burger and an amazing octopus carpaccio (who expects that in Luxemburg!). Wines list is extensive and interesting and has options in all budget classes. I was disappointed though that they charge 5 euro for small bottles of mineral water when they mention explicitly in the rooms that their drinking water is of very high quality. Please make sure you explain that also in the...
