Tsara Guest House in Fianarantsoa is a charming boutique hotel nestled in the historic Upper Town. Housed in a beautifully restored former church, it exudes colonial-era character with warm wooden interiors and tasteful décor. The garden and terrace offer serene views over the city and surrounding rice fields, creating a tranquil atmosphere. The staff are known for their friendliness and professionalism, ensuring a welcoming stay. The on-site restaurant serves a delightful mix of French and Malagasy cuisine, with guests praising the quality of the meals. Breakfasts are particularly noted for their excellence. Rooms are clean and comfortable, though some guests have mentioned that they can be chilly during the winter months. Opting for a superior room may provide more space and warmth. Wi-Fi is available, though the signal strength can vary. Overall, Tsara Guest House offers a unique and memorable experience, combining historical charm with modern comforts. It's an ideal choice for travelers seeking a peaceful retreat with easy access to Fianarantsoa's attractions.

I loved it. I had one of the big down stairs rooms so all lovely but of course no view as these upstairs rooms were all booked, I was a walk in. Great view from the terrace although no where to sit there. Restaurant area is all gorgeous wood , and lovely little garden space in front of that. They were then full for second night so I moved up to one of the top rooms with shared bathroom. Also lovely in wood and view window. Breakfast had three home made jams and honey. Various things available. Very friendly and helpful staff even with English. Close to walk to everything. Perfect 😁

We stayed one night at the Tsara Guest House on our way from Isalo NP back to Tana. We had dinner there. The restaurant was very pleasant and we were able to sit by the window with super views over the pretty garden and valley to the haute town beyond. The food was good and so was the service. I had a kir and Graham had a beer. Our foie gras (a speciality of the area) was excellent and beautifully presented. My fish was not so good, salty, dry and tough (as I found the fish everywhere except at the Tsara Komba) and Graham had zebu in peanut sauce that was better. It all came to Ar 80,000 (~Euro 21). Breakfast was the usual for Madagascar but the service was dire! The waitress just stood around and did not refill the plates or top anything up; we had to ask for everything.||||Our room was barely adequate. The bathroom was tiny, smaller than our shower at our previous lodge! We were given only 1 towel and 3 flannels but the shower was strong and hot. The bed was not very comfortable but, nonetheless, I slept well.||||From what we had been told and read, this was probably the best place to eat in Fianar...

We had a wonderful 5 days stay with our three kids at Tsara Guest House. Our third stay in the last 20 years. The friendly and professional staff is still there amid the COVID crisis which hit Madagascar’s tourism sector hard. The decoration of the public areas as well as the rooms is of very good taste, the garden of great charm and the restaurant is serving excellent cuisine for dinner. Breakfast is fresh and sumptuous. High quality bedding guaranteed a profound sleep. |The old town of Fianarantsoa is just 5 minutes by foot. Definitely worth to discover. And day excursions to for instance Ranomafan National Park and the Thermal Springs are 2 hours drive from Fianarantsoa. |We will be...
