Location: Very good! The place is on the south of the island and it is right on the beach (even the water to too shallow to swim). So you can easily go to ile aux Nattes or reach the town in a Tuck Tuck. Often it is not possible find the position of the place in google map. So I will add Google map Coordinates here: 17°03'51.3"S 49°49'30.6"E Informal atmophere.||||||Service: The service in general is very good. The personnel is very polite & available at any time. They are very helpful and friendly. I felt at home. The hotel has a security service at night in the beach. But you won’t even feel it. It is very discreet. Internet connection is good (compared to the rest of places I have visited).||Food: The restaurant (called la Varangue) and has good and relaxed atmosphere….but most of all it has an excellent food. You must try even if you choose to sleep in another hotel. It is amazing. They have expresso! Must try….||Prices: I visited Madagascar in low Season (January). It maybe overpriced compared to other the place with the same standard but still worth a visit. They have familiar bungalows. For couple I suggest Hibuscus! It is an individual Bungalow…||Note: Much appreciated the kindness of the owner as well who is very attentive to guests’ needs and question! Much appreciated.||I read about people complaining about locals in the beach trying to sell things. My experience is that this can be seen as an opportunity to interact with locals. This is not a private beach resort…but they all were very polite. If you tell them you are not interested to buy ylang ylang oil or spices they...
Read moreIsland of Sainte Marie or Boraha island was our last stop before heading back to Tana and flying home. And what a great spot to end our 3 weeks travel around Madagascar. |We've stayed at Vohilava villas in the heart of Vohilava village. Around 15 min drive by tuk tuk from the port where the boat from Mahambo docks or 5 min from the airport. The Villa Emeraude that we've stayed in was amazing and huge. It can accommodate up to 10 people so we could choose where we wanted to sleep. It has three bathrooms and a huge dining area if you want to eat in. The food will be prepared by the housekeeper that comes with the villa and takes care of the house and all your needs. |The outdoor patio is enormous with hammocks, rocking chair and plenty of sitting space. It offers unobstructed views right at the ocean edge filled with few palm trees on which local kids are playing. Perfect for having a drink and watching whales in a distance. And yes, the colors of the sunset are amazing.|Sadly the the beach at a low tide is not swimmable and there are a lot of sea urchins in this water so be careful. The restaurant serves great food but a bit on a upscale price side. All in all great stay on a pirate island and we would come back in a heartbeat.|At the end it wouldn't be fair if we wouldn't mentioned Kate, the manager that can and will help you with every...
Read moreI'm not the first one to give this kind of feedback, but let me join the chorus: this place is simply heaven on earth. The setting is beautiful, directly on the beach, yet close to the village and its delights. My bungalow was just gorgeous, spacious, super-cozy, tastefully appointed and spotlessly clean, with a large private terrace and a hammock to watch the sunset.. The whole little resort (about ten villas /bungalows) is beautifully manicured, everything is in great condition, and there's perfect peace and quiet. Food was among the best I had during my long trip through Madagascar, very well presented, with the menu changing daily. Best of all were the people though - among others, chef Emile; the whole restaurant staff, who were all very motivated, switched-on and a joy to work with; gouvernante Georgette, who did a marvellous job; and manager Kate, who was as professional as she was charming. In just six days, I felt very much at home here. Thank you so much to all of you! This was without doubt one of the best and most welcoming hébergements I stayed at during the last few years (and I do a lot of travelling). I do hope I'll have the chance to come back here someday. (And there even was a sunset yoga class, out on the platform in the sea....
