A beautiful lodge on the banks of the Bua river in Nkhotakota Game Reserve and it's owned by a Malawian family. I was the only visitor at the lodge when I visited but never felt alone. The staff were amazing. Had a very close encounter at the lounge/restaurant with an elephant that used to frequent the place. The food was great too. I will definitely visit again.

The lodge and rooms are absolutely gorgeous with all details beautifully crafted. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and and full of knowledge about the park. With its riverside lovation deep in the forest the lodge is probably one of the best wildlife viewing spots in the park. This was our second visit and we look forward to visiting again.

Tongole is a place that dependably stands still in tranquility in an otherwise busy world. Within hours of arriving a sense of calm and contentment takes over as you take in the stunning vistas and wildlife.||The staff are all wonderful people and they will share so much knowledge about the surroundings. They’re all friendly and super attentive.||We were lucky to see elephants, hippos, impala, crocodiles, monkeys (loads), bush buck, eagles and lots of other interesting creatures. The clumsy flying dung beatles who occasionally visited in the evening are a personal favourite.||If you want to visit somewhere that is truly unique where you can completely escape from a busy world then this is it....

My 3rd trip to the lodge in just over 10 years and it just keeps getting better. Every minute here was excellent; the greeting and farewell from the staff - which even the tin man would find the heart-warming - to the sun soaked afternoons by the pool with seemingly unbothered wildlife in peaceful surrounds. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about the area and can identify every animal and plant in sight. The food is incredible too, Chef Paul and team do not miss! Any dietary requirement seems to be catered for without hesitation or fuss. I could (and do) talk about this place for infinite time but can’t explain the feeling of warmth and wander that it invokes. |Thank you Tongole!...

We spent a fantastic weekend at Tongole. Imagine having an entire lodge, and quite possibly the entire wildlife reserve, all to yourself! The staff at Tongole are super attentive and very knowledgeable. The chalets are huge (the bath is big enough to fit an entire family!). Going to bed to the sounds of nature and waking up to the sights of elephant herds was magical. The swimming pool was ideal for cooling off after exploring the bush. The meals were delicious and we enjoyed having every meal at a different spot. Carry plenty of insect repellent, though the lodge has and I’m not sure it made any difference. But even the insect bites are considered part of a beautiful experience...
