I chose Borneo Jungle Adventure due to all the positive reviews . Quite frankly I think people are being over generous. Positive -pick up/drop| - animal/nature cruises |Negatives - room basic and covered in a layer of black mould likely due to the dampness pervading from the bathroom|- bathroom smelled very strongly of a bag of urinal blocks that were obviously trying to hide the smell of drains|-drains in shower and bathroom floor covered by house bricks |-no toiletries provided as was claimed on booking|- no cleaning of room during entire stay including the bathroom bin which was overflowing with used toilet paper as per hotel instructions |- surrounding area very illkempt with discarded rubbish and building materials - not a jungle oasis |- food was Malaysian but very few options and what was provided was not sufficient quantity - only one course and watermelon every day |- hotel says wifi available everywhere but only in communal area - rooms have no wifi nor data |- communal areas lacking in sufficient comfortable seating and rooms too hot and damp to sit in .|- although the trips were pretty good they charge extra for trips - if you want to see the elephants they won’t take you unless you pay £70 extra each even though it is near the lodge… they originally said it was 400 ringgit per group but on check out it was each … clearly just a money grab! I paid nearly £900 for a two night trip in family room , expensive for what was provided and £280 in extras ( night walk and elephant tour) |. The night walk was through a flooded, muddy area of ground with water over the height of wellies and we saw two stick insects and what may or may not have been a micro frog |- as a native English speaker even I found the guide very difficult to understand especially over the noise of an outboard motor |I don’t usually provide reviews but I thought considering how misled I was by reviews I felt I ought to set the record straight. Other guests staying at the same time shared the same views. Check out the Hornbill Lodge, it...
Read moreMy friend and I had a wonderful experience at Borneo Jungle Adventure. We stayed 4 days and 3 nights. This was a great all inclusive deal. We came to see the Orangutans but got so much more. We got the airport transfer which was included and three full buffet meals a day, plus our lodging and then two boat tours a day. Khai was an excellent guide and birder. He made sure that we saw the Borneo Big Five. Grace was a wonderful and friendly receptionist and Dinki was a fantastic cook. They sold beer and soft drinks for a little extra. Each morning at 6:30 we departed on a boat safari looking for elephants, birds, orangutans and whatever else they could find. We would come back and enjoy our breakfast and then relax with the other guests of the lodge. Each evening around 4:30 we would go on another boat safari to a different location along the Kinabatangan River. Other activities included a night boat ride where we saw owls and some other cool stuff, a walk around the tiny village to see the true river people’s life and a jungle walk in the afternoon with big boots on. On our last evening the hotel brought in the Rice Wine and Karaoke, we had a ball dancing and singing with everyone.|Our room did not have air conditioning but it was large and clean and had a big fan. We actually slept fine at night because it cooled off just enough with our window open. We paid US $375 for all of these and we thought it was fair and a great deal. We had such a great time we tipped everyone including the boat drivers for a wonderful Jungle...
