The Kinabantagnan Riverside Lodge was the 3rd of the 5 lodges we stayed out on our 8-day adventure in Borneo and the 1 of 3 SI Tour lodges we stayed at. We traveled to this lodge via the river after a one-night stay at the Abai Jungle lodge. We had the same guide at both lodges and during the journey to the lodges, Ron. He was amazing and was the highlight of our trip to Borneo. He was by far the best of all the guides we had on this adventure trip. He has been giving tours for 16 years. He was very personable, a great spotter and was full of knowledge. It is clear he is a constant learner. The service and food were both good. We had several activities where we could do sightings. We paid extra for the air conditioning, and we thought it was worth it. The jungle is very hot and humid, and the AC gave us some needed reprieve from the heat and helped us sleep better. Between this lodge and our previous SI Tours Lodge (Abai Jungle Lodge) – both on the river, we had many sightings. While we didn’t see Orangutans, we saw the Bornean Pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, macaques, hornbills, a crocodile, owls, flying lemurs, fireflies and many others. My rating for this lodge is based on the overall experience (activities, food, service, atmosphere and rooms. Whie this is not the nicest of all the Borneo lodges, it was one of the best experiences. If you are looking for a fancy resort, I would look elsewhere. Come here for the river experience and...

Read moreWe stayed here as part of a Trailfinders trip and it was a lovely place to stay. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food each night was brilliant, with choice for vegetarians and meat eaters. Breakfast was very basic however and could have more cereal and yoghurt options for those who can't eat meat or eggs.
We stayed in a room very close to the edge of the resort and it was clearly a place the monkeys loved because they were constantly around. We requested to move rooms and were moved to a larger room closer to the restaurant. We didn't pay for a room with a A/C and this meant the room was incredibly hot and smelled funny. I would definitely recommend getting a room with A/C!
Our guide Edmundo was funny, patient and knowledgeable of the local wildlife and the area. He made sure we saw as much as possible and really cared about our enjoyment of the excursions. Due to this, we saw a lot of animals and wildlife - it...
