we did not stay at their accomodation but stopped by their restaurant for lunch. the place has a cozy and pleasant ambience. there are windows all around for us to look out at the view, but when i was there it was too misty to see anything as it was raining. they decorated the place with Christmas lights and put up a Christmas tree which added to the dining experience. the restaurant has a traditional but also a modern feel to it.
the staff are friendly, attentive, and the food came fairly fast. the place was very peaceful and quiet as we were the only customers there.
the food was absolutely scrumptious. i wanted the nasi mangga but they had no mangga so i ordered the nasi goreng dahai. it came with a huge portion of yellow fried rice with egg, one small fish, omelette, bunga kantan and sambal. the fried bunga kantan was so so fragrant and went really well with the rice. the sambal was not too spicy which was just nice for me. the fried rice was not bad, but the parts with egg in it was slightly salty. however the rice itself is not too salty so it's just nice. the dish also came with a small bowl of soup which tasted just fine.
we had a cup of Sabah tea which i enjoyed. the tea taste is not overpowering and the sweetness is just nice.
the only downside is that the toilet is outside the restaurant and you have to walk down a flight of stairs to access it. it's a bit inconvenient if it's raining heavily and may pose a risk when the steps are wet especially for the elderly and young children.
overall, a 4.5 stars experience. wouldn't mind going back...
Read moreThe Cottage Cafe started its business June 2019 as an expansion of its sister homestay business. The place was developed by Dusun natives whom have been in the tourism business for umptine years.
The cafe is a cosy cafe that is able to house some 40 customers. Restroom is located at a lower level. It is a semi-self service cafe that offered quite a number of local delicacies. Priced reasonably well, we had Nasi Goreng, Nasi Ayam, Nasi Sotong, and WanTonHo for lunch. While the dishes were tasty, the potion was a bit Asianic. Food to avoid is the TomYam.
Because the place had just established the staffs were inexperienced but friendly.
They offer free WiFi!
