We had the twin bed villa with 2 queen beds - good for 4 adults (we had 3). This is one of two similar units onsite. The other one (this place only has three units) has a king size bed with a larger area and a non-functioning kitchenette. The manager told us that Sabah Electricity apparently didn't supply them with a large enough capacity, so that when they first tried switching on the electric stove, it tripped the entire place's electricity supply!||Both room and bathroom were quite spacious and similar to the photos. The beds and the high pillows were firm. There was a heating element (I think) for the beds, but we didn't try it. Amenities like disposable toothbrush + toothpaste, cotton buds, shower caps and bath + hand towels were provided in the bathroom. The toilet also had an electric seat warmer. Unfortunately, the hot water pressure was quite low, although the cold water had good pressure. This means that you either get a really(!) cold shower with good pressure, or a warm shower with medium pressure. ||The wardrobe in the room has hangers and was scented with pandan pouches - a nice touch. Also provided was a kettle and bottled water (one time only), with a generous amount of Nescafe coffee sachets, creamer and sugar. ||There is no tv or wifi, but there's a sound bar you can connect your device to. Maxis and Digi had decent reception, but not UMobile. ||No fan or aircon, but opening the doors or windows gave good ventilation with the cool air. ||The units are set in a beautiful landscaped garden with a great view of Mt Kinabalu. We enjoyed hanging out and chit-chatting at our porch, but otherwise, there's nothing to do at the hotel itself. Do note that there are no paths to the villas - you walk through the garden itself, which has some ups and downs that might be tricky for someone with mobility issues - definitely a "no go" for someone on a wheelchair or using a walker. As we arrived at night, the manager kindly lent us torches to help light our way clearly - there were also lamps scattered throughout the property.||The manager was quite nice and friendly - I believe he stays on site, but you need to have a mobile phone to contact him as there is no phone in the villa itself.||The set breakfast is at H Benjamin hotel a few minutes' drive out (walkable), which is the nearest food place. Breakfast was adequate, though greasy. We had a choice of the Western or Asian menu - our group preferred the Asian menu, which had the choices of fried rice, fried mee or fried meehoon that came with coffee or tea, papaya slices and two slices of toast each with butter and jam.||Kundasang is a 15-20 minutes' drive out on a hilly road that doesn't have lights at certain parts, so you really need your own transport to stay here. Note that there are no signs to Spring Garden anywhere along the way and that the access road (a right turn after H Benjamin if you're coming from Kundasang) is gravel with ruts and holes. But Waze got us there safely. Spring Gardens is right at the end of the road, so peace and quiet is ensured.||Overall, a lovely place to stay, with...
Read moreI visited with my Family on the 8th of August. Took a twin room which has 2 queen sized beds.||I arrived at the location at noon, feeling very stressed out because was having a bit of an argument with the family. My mother was having one of her fits when we arrived, saying she didn't like the place, I on the other hand, was wondering why I spent so much money on this place.||I called the caretaker and he was quick to respond, good guy, we got to our room, still stressed out, and felt instantly that the room was sparse. I was immediately questioning my reasoning for booking this place.||Fast forward an hour or so later, when everyone calmed down (mother included), we were immediately in a better mood. The landscaping of the place is really beautiful, and the view of mount kinabalu was very majestic. We left both the front and back door open and the winds were blowing through the room, keeping it cool, my mom and my sisters were all starting to enjoy the place, myself included. ||I started looking into the details of the rooms, the quality of the materials used to construct the villa was of the highest quality, toilet was made with marble, and everything else was simple but robust, and could tell that material choice was quite important. ||The landscaping was also quite nice. Beautiful garden. And it's just so private. To sum it all up here are the pros and cons of this place.||Pros:|1. High quality material used to construct the rooms|2. Beautiful landscaping - very calming and great.|3. Very private |4. Friendly and quick team to reply |5. Nice toilet (best in Kundasang)||Cons|1. Price a bit on the high side (but it's private and most probably the nicest hotel in kundasang, cant compare to established hotels in the city(|2. Lacks some finer details : instead of 3 in 1 coffee, put a Nespresso machine in every room with 4 to 6 capsules, that really makes a difference in terms of perceived quality.|3. Pillows could be better - sheets are alright and bed is alright - but I stayed in four seasons kl for 40 percent cheaper, so... A bit hard on that end|4. I appreciate the disposable tooth brush, soaps etc. But I think the soap would be better if it was in a bottle stuck to the shower wall where it can be refillable, perhaps they could use a branded soap and shampoo for that, and not put it in small bottles, but in refillable permanent bottles in the room.|5. Restaurant - it's not under them, they share it with the hotel about a 5 minutes drive away. It's not bad, but it's far from good. No alcohol in sight there, so better BYOD.||Although pricing wise it's on the high side, and there are some things that they can improve on, I'd still go back there, as it's the only great and private stay in kundasang. Everywhere else is not up to spring gardens quality,...
Read moreThe place is like the garden of Eden, and if you are lucky, you will get to see the mysterious Mount KK, emerging at the back, like a huge dinosaur. If it is not rainy season, I guess you will get to see the magical mountain more often. If it is rainy season, it will mostly appeared around 6 to 8.30 a.m and then again in the noon, 12pm or evening around 4 to 6.30pm. The chalets are comfy, clean, modern Bali style and beautiful surrounded by beautiful landscaping, lots of beautiful flowers like a garden of Eden. However, this area is rather remote and quite hidden away. Before you reach the destination, you will have to pass by stretch of bumpy path, not road. It can be very dark at night. We were given small torch light to help us get into the chalets. Given the lack of security in this accommodation, we kinda feel scared at night, as place is isolated and hidden away from other amenities, the main road and also not brightly lit. There is no in house cafe or restaurant however we were given bkfast vouchers at a nearby restaurant at the main road. The food served by H&R Benjamin are seriously good and simply delicious. It's good to stock some snack food and beverage you like. There is no TV, but you have access to a sound bar. In summary, it's a beautiful cottage at the garden of Eden so close to Mount KK, almost beneath the mountain with a waterfall at the back of the place we stayed. No...
