Our stay at Gunungan Kampung Stay from 27–28 June 2025 was absolutely magical! This hidden gem is more than just a homestay — it’s a peaceful retreat nestled in a traditional village setting, surrounded by nature and the breathtaking view of Gunung Panti right in the background. The sight of the majestic mountain in the early morning mist is something we’ll never forget — absolutely picture-perfect!
The traditional wooden house was beautifully preserved, blending kampung charm with modern comfort. The surroundings were lush, peaceful, and well-kept, making it perfect for relaxation, healing, and family bonding. It’s a fantastic place for kids to explore and adults to unwind.
The host was friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Cleanliness was top-notch — from the rooms to the bathroom to the garden. Every detail showed how much care they put into this place.

Upon check-in, we felt the process was more akin to attending a brief lecture rather than a warm welcome. Additionally, the detached kitchen posed challenges, especially during rainy weather, as water seeped into the kitchen area due to gaps in the connecting roof, leaving the floor wet.
We also noticed an unpleasant odor in the bathroom, which unfortunately led to our daughter vomiting twice. Moreover, we observed a rodent moving through the roof in our room, which was quite concerning.
While we understand that every property has its unique characteristics, these issues significantly impacted our comfort and experience. We appreciate your offer to change the bedsheets; however, we believe addressing the underlying concerns would be more beneficial for future guests.
Thank you for taking the time to consider...
Read moreBooked the one bedroom villa for a 3 nights stay and it was a super peaceful retreat. Best thing about it was that the chalet came with a kitchen and so we could cook our own meals (halal ingredients). There was a full sized fridge so we could stock up on food without fearing anything will go bad in the merciless weather.
Bathroom has a heater now so no worries about bathing in cold water!
The aircon was down for 2 days - turning off every 30 mins during the day but miraculously working ok during the night lol. This unfortunate event had us escaping the room for most of the daytime due to the heat. Thankfully the owners managed to get it fixed on the 3rd day so we finally got a super good night's sleep on our last night there ;p
One thing to note, Kota Tinggi doesn't have a decent mall compared to JB town, so forget about any shopping there. Just go purely for relaxing and oh, remember to go star gazing at night! Just remember to spray enough mosquito...
