Mersing Maple Villa — Hotel in Johor

My husband and I came across Mersing Maple Villas on Agoda and Booking.com while looking for a place to stay overnight during our impromptu roadtrip to Tioman a month ago. All reviews we read had nothing but good things to say about the host and the place.

We were indeed not disappointed as we were greeted by Mr Kam upon arrival (and without a booking as we were just minutes away when we decided to stay there). The place was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Linens and towels provided were fresh and clean too. The kitchen was equipped with a hot/cold water filter, microwave oven, utensils, coffee, tea, etc. Mr Kam even bought some fresh (and one of the softest I’ve ever had) bread and buns for the guests.

Throughout our brief stay, Mr Kam was always available to answer our questions and provide recommendations for places to eat in Mersing, which ferry to take to tioman, which beach was the best to chill out at etc. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with him about elephants and tigers in Johor. :)

Our host was kind enough to let us park our car at Maple Villas (which has a very large compound enough to park 6-8 cars) during our stay on Tioman Island. He even offered to send and pick us up at the Mersing Jetty. He is indeed a very hospitable, sincere, and friendly person.

For anyone looking for a place to stay in Mersing, whether it’s for a stopover to other parts of Johor or the islands, we cannot stress enough that you give Mersing Maple Villas a try. We would definitely come back here again next time! Thank you, Mr Kam...

Initially quite skeptical to book at 1st. After reading the guest review, I just made a booking without hesitation. Since we just stay for like 6 hrs. So we just simply find somewhere near the jetty for a night stay before the snorkeling trip.

We reached the villa at almost 12am. Here I would suggest the owner make a big sign showing Mersing Maple Villa near the gate entrance. Else we can't barely see anything in the night.

We didn't talk much with the owner due to the tiring journey. Took 6 hrs from KL.. However the owner did explain a little thing to my husband and suggested us to leave around 7am and have breakfast before the snorkeling trip.

We booked room A, 2 big beds and 1 single bed for 5 ppl with a clean toilet inside the room. They provide hair shampoo and body shampoo. The parking is big, could fit at least 4 cars.

Will definitely book again if we go...

Maple Villa is a fantastic place to stay in Mersing. The owner is a brilliant host. The accommodation is really clean. All rooms have attached bath. Muslim friendly. (No creatures against the religion.) You can go in and out at anytime. Host will give you the keys to the electric gate and house. The a/c works. Nice external shared space. The room rental is very competitive. It is in a residential zone. Transportation is key. But if you are someone who regularly walks, it'll be no problem. If you ask nicely, maybe the owner will ferry you to the town destination especially in an emergency situation. (I witnessed that during my stay.)
