Southern Village Resort Desa Selatan Resort — Hotel in Johor

Stumbled upon this resort while planning for family trip to Mini Zoo Desaru. The zoo is located next to Petronas Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC), so it's kinda far from our usual stay in Desaru. The location is very secluded, trust it was originally meant for the officers working at the PIC. The nearest eataries are at Tg Pengelih (also limited choice).

Receptionist was very friendly. The phone in the room is not working so if I need anything I just WA their business number and they are very reaponsive.

The room was very spacious. We booked 2 queen beds room, comes with breakfast of 2 pax. There was more than enough space for 4 of us (2A2C) to solat. Clean room, simple but functional. Toilet is also clean and functional. Good water pressure, just that I don't think it come with water heater. Aircond also functioning well, it took like 15 mins to cool the room when we checked in under scorching hot weather. Could be improved with a mirror in the room, mirror is only available in the toilet so it's kinda troublesome. There is kettle, standard refreshment, mineral water and working mini fridge. There were only Singapore's TV channels available, you can bring your own USB drive or HDMI to connect to laptop if you want.

There are 2 options for breakfast - mini buffet or packed. Luckily during our stay there were quite a crowd, so we got the mini buffet. Very simple - nasi goreng, sausages, stewed potatoes, bread, so cakes, cut fruits, mi/mihun sup. Not that great but it certainly filling.

Swimming pool is rather small, more suitable for older kids, i guess younger kids 4yo & below need floats. There is gym also but didn't get to check it out. There are also ping pong table, foosball, pool table but we didnt get to try because the space was booked for some event.

Overall i think it is very great value for money, if you are looking for staycation that's really quiet far from hustle & bustle, you...

Extended our stay... spacious and clean room totally worth the price... the staff's are very friendly, only thing u have to go to the lobby and inform directly can't contact via phonecall... Very quite place.. has small pool.... room service done well.... Air cond is very cold, just need to wait 30min++ in beginning to get cool, after entering... bathroom is big and clean too.... water pressure is strong good... tv had medicore SG channels.. kids and us enjoyed watching... Felt safe and Independent stay.. Best to buy snacks & food before Check in as shops are not very nearby if u plan to relax in room... if have own car best to stay here as u can drive 15min++ to kampung pengerang and get food there right near the roundabout malay restaurant food was delicious and reasonable price... the place is tricky to find.. can use waze to klinik pengerang gateway.. it is in the same row as well.. easier... we visited the mini zoo desaru nearby 13min++ kids & adults will love it.. Beach could not visit due to rainning weather... Will definitely come here to stay for our...

Budget and quiet place for a weekend getaway /staycation.

Place is big enough to host a function and has a big sum of units for lodging.

Breakfast will be served to your unit from 7am onwards. Presentation and taste wise not bad.

Tenants with cars will be given units with parking lots as compared to those without.

Unit had been vandalised by kids of previous tenants. Ants can be seen crawling in and out of room, on top of the table and even on our bed. We even squished some of them while we were on the bed.

Water pressure is surprisingly strong.

Air con is strong and keeps us cool even on a hot day.

Wood vinyl on the floor is uneven, most have small gaps in between.

WiFi is pretty weak..

Resort comes with a gym and pool for those who wished to work out.

Receptionist is very friendly, though she may have language barrier. Some patience is needed.

Place is close to nearby farms...
