Our three days at Ulu Muda with Hymeir and Wan were wonderful. It was a magical experience to be able to see and live within the forest, reconnecting and unplugging from our usual day-to-day life. Of course, the highlight was seeing elephants. We are so grateful to have had such incredible tour guides, no words do it justice to describe the feeling of flowing down the river on the boat and listening to the jungle sounds, looking out for elephant tracks, and having that feeling of not knowing if and when we might see them. A huge thank you to Wan for providing meals which were not only delicious but also catered to myself as someone who is vegan. We felt well looked after and safe at the Earth Lodge - as two young women, this is something that is particularly important when you're travelling and we could not have wished for a better experience. Hymeir was sure to listen to how we were feeling, and planned the day according to our energy/fitness levels. It's certainly true that less is more when it comes to packing for Ulu Muda - my friend and I shared just one of our 30L rucksacks to pack the things we needed, and even then we ended up wearing pretty much the same outfit for all three days! Waterproofs of course are probably the biggest must, and a hat. We were able to leave our other rucksack with all our other belongings in Hymeir's car. Overall, I really do hope that one day I can return to Ulu Muda with my family or other friends. It's an incredibly special place and Jasmine and I will forever remember those moments we spent watching the elephants and their babies peacefully wading across the river or ambling down the riverside. Thank you, Hymeir and Wan!

Did a 4D3N stay with earthlodge. Special thanks to hymeir and crew for the wonderful time at earth lodge. The lodge was run with Sustainability in mind. Disturbance to the environment was kept minimum and you can be sure the proceed from your stay goes back to the local community. Room was basic but works for a good night rest. Food provided were a mix of Asian and western dish during my stay. Earthlodge is the perfect place to just disconnect from the internet and bath in the atmosphere of a tropical rainforest. As we drift down the river during the river cruise, you can't help but to notice how magical the forest sounds with the calls of gibbon and hornbills echoing in the distance. A highlight will be the trek to the cave. Be prepared for leeches, you are in a rainforest after all. Overall a recommended location. You do not need to travel all the way to the Amazon river for a rainforest, all this can be experienced in the backyard of Malaysia. Hymeir and team did a good job managing the lodge and advocating for the protection of the greater ulu muda region. Hope the Malaysian government can do more in their capacity to preserve this rare eden for future generations to come.

Stayed here 4n/5d last summer and it was literally the best experience I've ever had. Don't expect luxury, no hot water and electricity is availible when the generator is turned on (6-8 am, 19ish-24), but you don't need more than that to charge phones/cameras etc. Hymeir is a great scientist with a heart for Ula Muda reserve, trying to keep it as natural as possible but showing the beauty of the reserve at the same time, also therefore accepting only small groups at one time. It was truly magical, on the first night we saw an elephant with her young, and the last morning cruise as well. I can't even count the amount of Hornbills we saw, and lots of other wild life. The other staff are very friendly, helpfull and great cooks and captains. I would 100% recommend going here, a place still so conserved and natural. Thanks again Hymeir for making my dream come true!

Our stay at Ulu Muda Earth Lodge was nothing short of extraordinary – truly the most memorable, meaningful, and magical experience of our entire three-week trip through Asia. This place deserves the highest praise and warmest recommendations.||🌿 Hymeir – The Heart of the Experience||From the very first contact, Hymeir was efficient, clear, and incredibly helpful in arranging our booking and transfer to Ulu Muda Lake.||His professionalism and deep knowledge of jungle conservation and wildlife made every moment educational and inspiring.||Hymeir’s dedication, passion, and commitment to protecting the rainforest and its inhabitants shine through in everything he does.||He’s also funny, warm, and easy to be around, creating a wonderful sense of community among guests – we truly felt like part of a jungle family.||🌳 The Jungle – Raw, Real, and Remarkable||This is a genuine, immersive jungle experience – wild, untamed, and deeply respectful of nature’s rhythms.||Don’t expect wildlife to pose for photos – instead, feel grateful and humbled for every glimpse of majestic animals in their natural habitat.||The jungle is hot, wet, and alive with exotic sounds you’ve only heard in movies – it’s breathtaking.||Yes, there are leeches – but with leech socks and Hymeir’s guidance, you’ll learn to handle them like a true jungle explorer.||🛖 Earth Lodge – Off-Grid and Unforgettable||Located 14 km from civilization, this is a rare and authentic off-grid experience. Everyone should try living without electricity and internet once in a while – it’s liberating.||The food is simple, tasty, and plentiful, with banana cake, tea, and coffee always available.|A generator provides electricity in the morning and evening, so a flashlight is essential – adding to the adventure!||With small groups (6–8 people), there’s a beautiful international community feeling, and Hymeir orchestrates it masterfully with his curious, kind, and humorous personality.||The expertise and authenticity here are unmatched. This isn’t a place that talks about sustainability – this is sustainability in action: waste separation, no single-use plastics, natural insect repellents, cold water showers, and more.|||If you’re looking for a truly transformative nature experience – one that touches your soul and opens your eyes – Ulu Muda Earth Lodge is it.|We leave with full hearts, deep respect, and unforgettable...

We had a 5D4N experience at Earth Lodge. Waking up every morning by a live orchestra specially performed by the agile gibbons, hornbills, eagles, frogs and the list goes on and on, and now the jungle is awakened. The river cruise is scheduled almost every morning for the enthusiasts! Off we went with Hymeir and his crew in the midst along the river in search of any signs of life. Never have we imagined that the wildlife here in our homeland, Malaysia is so diverse and serene. Earth Lodge is right at the heart of Ulu Muda rainforest, a resting spot for all 10 different species of hornbills. The 5D itinerary takes you on a full on jungle experience. From hiking on the deep jungle trails to exploring the cave in Bukit Labu, Hymeir gave us a good insight about the rainforest and the wildlife that depends upon it. Clearly, protecting Ulu Muda has always been the number one priority in his goal. By arranging smaller groups to the jungle per year means keeping the tourist’s footprints at a minimum impact. Earth Lodge is for those who care and are curious to learn about the Malaysian rainforest, the migration birds, limestone caves and etc. We felt very well taken care of by the Hymeir and the crew. Freshly cooked meals every day, from asian to western dishes. A big compliment to the team for making us feel welcomed. Thank you once again for making our stay...
