Rouhi Retreats — Hotel in Langkawi Island

We stayed at Rouhi Retreats / Villa for one month. It’s a nice place with high potential, although the online photos are much more appealing than the reality. The on-site staff are exceptionally kind and helpful, doing their utmost to ensure you enjoy your stay. However, there is a clear lack of management by the owner and disappointing under-investment. The accommodation falls below normal Airbnb standards and is not ideal for long-term stays—especially for digital nomads who need a reliable workspace. There are several areas that need improvement: The living room lacks air conditioning—it appears the unit was removed or never replaced, as the old plugs and screws are still in place. Given the island’s hot climate, it is nearly impossible to enjoy the spacious area without AC. We had to move our table into the bedroom to benefit from air conditioning, and we were fortunate to have a large bedroom; not all the houses offer that much space. There are no mosquito nets on the beds or windows. In this tropical area, while we kept the windows open to circulate air when the AC was off, the room became infested with mosquitoes and other insects at night. Mosquito coils are insufficient, making proper nets essential to keep out both small and larger insects. We booked this place for its attractive kitchen, but upon arrival, we found the cookware and kitchenware to be extremely limited. The housekeeper had to search through different houses to find what we needed. When renting to multiple guests, it is crucial that each unit is fully equipped with necessary amenities; otherwise, the benefit of having a large kitchen is lost. The sheets and towels were stained, likely due to poor water quality in the pipes. Regardless of the cause, it is not pleasant to receive stained linens, even if they are clean. It is important to invest in a gecko deterrent product, as gecko droppings were a daily issue throughout the property. The area around the pool is not very inviting. The furniture is very outdated, which makes it difficult for guests to fully enjoy the pool area, and the pool itself is not well maintained. The garden is untidy, which is unfortunate because it has great potential. With proper management, the garden could be a beautiful space, but as it stands, the plants do not thrive. During our stay, there was an issue with the island-wide internet connection. Unfortunately, the owner took almost two weeks to fix it and replace the old line with a new WiFi system, leaving all residents without reliable internet for far too long. This delay is yet another example of the challenges in managing such large residential units remotely.

After five years of travels around the world, my partner and I found this beautiful place and considering the crazy times we're living, let me tell you, we could not have imagined a better spot to be "stuck" in!||Very bright, cozy and clean appartment, indoor and outdoor shared kitchens even though there are many delicious restaurants less than 5min walking, 1km away from our favourite beach on the Island, grocery stores also in a walking distance, huge garden for our daughter to play, co-working space with optical fiber internet, shared washing machine (free) and a very welcoming owner (Sharifah) as well as the manager (Vina).||Vina has been doing everything she can to make sure we feel home, on behalf of all the guests, thank you for your kindness and for your smile! 😉||As if it wasn't enough, we happened to be here at the time as a unique group of people! From Japan to New-York, Austria to Russia, our evenings have been for the least very interesting!...

Tempah atas expectation yang tinggi kerana owner ialah arkitek. Kecewa kerana discover macam orang KL lain owner beli tanah, buat rumah ala kadar, bagi mat saleh n wife Malaysia jaga tapi banyak benda tak berfungsi.

Tandas rosak, air slow (maybe it's Langkawi or maybe boleh letak booster)

Saving grace - ia adalah kampung life and ada kedai nasi lemak murah, ada kefe hipstur dalam 5 minit dan dekat dengan Tanjung Rhu (unless you pemalas nak jalan jauh sikit which is at least 2km away)

Oh ya, you may sesat kalau cari unit rumah waktu malam sebab gelap....
