Hotel Golden Valley — Hotel in Malacca

To be frank, you would probably need a compelling reason to be staying here, like you have business around Batu Berendam area to attend to. It’s not to say that the hotel is poor, though it has its shortcomings, but the area is pretty far from the city center as well as the tourist attractions. There are shops around and all, and even if you drive a little further there’s a Tesco hypermarket and even McDonald’s, but that’s about it. Let’s just say it’s not quite on top of the list for a holiday getaway hotel stay.||||Having said that, in my case where I chose the hotel for a business trip, it served its purpose. It’s a new boutique hotel (a term grossly misrepresented nowadays) converted from shop houses, decent value for money, clean and sufficiently spacious room, bathroom was quite spacious too and with basic amenities. No breakfast was provided with the room but that wasn’t a problem for me. The room I had was one without windows so I get the smell of cigarettes as soon as I went in, so if this bothers you you’d be well advised to ask for a room with windows. As it was for an overnight stay I didn’t bother much, but the real problem was with the somehow very well insulated room that managed to deteriorate the data reception on my mobile that hindered me from working. Add to that the choppy in-room WiFi that’s pretty much unusable, even though it was free.||||It’s a decent stay for a solo traveler and I wouldn’t mind coming back, just have to make sure I get a room with windows and good WiFi or mobile...

I arrived late night carrying a sleeping baby and I had difficulty to push the door open. Saw a hotel staff newly arrived and waited for her to help me in. She opened the door, get in and let the door slam me and my baby. No courtesy to at least hold the door for us. Maybe she walked past me and did not noticed, I don't know. I thought maybe she had issues and i shouldn't judge. But it turns out that every single staff in the premise couldn't be bothered to be nice to the customers. This review actually marks our third time staying at this hotel. It is one of the budget hotel with great value in Melaka. The room is decent, the bed is comfy, toilet is clean and spacey (though the space of the toilet bowl and the sink is very close, my thigh almost hit the sink corner everytime i want to use the toilet). Yes, it was quite far from the attractions, but this place is easy to reach despite the frequent traffic jam in Melaka.
