First and foremost, this is a glamping (camping) ground. Tents are hot and humid. Equipped with exhaust fans. The cooler has limited cooling effect and they are loud during the night. So city folks may be missing the AC here. Otherwise I like the dome tents, all set up and ready. Unfortunately, my wife couldn’t sleep.

Second night, we changed to the villa. AC made all the difference. Villas are nice.

The big domes have toilet right beside. The small domes has communal toilet about 100m average away. Toilets are clean and nice.

We didn’t have much mosquitoes issue. We came prepared with sprays.

We came during weekday. We were the only ones. So service was fantastic and the retreat has a great team of local staff.

Breakfast was ok ok. Nescafé 3 in 1 coffee and aik Cheong coffee provided. Camping barista equipment available for rent and I highly recommend it for the experience. Banana leaf dinner was ok ok. A bit cold. BBQ dinner was very good. They have portable gas grill right on our table.

We went to pertang for kopitiam. It was ok. Not many choice.

Place is hilly and has many steps. My 2 years old has plenty of space to roam. I just had to watch him on the steps. Those steps has no handrails and too steep for elderly.

Durian trees and nangka trees everywhere. Retreat is surrounded by plantation like rubber and durian. There is a TNB pylon within sight, otherwise it was very nice to just chill and enjoy the greens.

Swimming pool is too small for more than 1 family. It is right beside the main large villa, so privacy for the villa may be an issue.

In conclusion, there isn’t much to do but I liked it. I was ok to just chill. This place is a glamping site, so it may not be suitable for some city folks. Everything was ok to good. However, I do find it overpriced when compared to other similar place in...

Glamping? More like camping. Stayed in their domes, there was no curtains to cover for privacy, i repeat domes has no privacy and it was HOT HOT HOT from 8:30am - 2am, after 2am only starts to get cold. They only provide portable aircond and it was so tiny, barely felt anything. Worst part was at 1 am before i was about to go to bed, the portable aircond was leaking. Before it happened i did saw a review about it and informed them to check yet it still happened!

Shared Toilets for Domes and Bubo which only consist of 3 showers and 3 toilet both male and female. Had to fight with other people for the toilet especially during the day. There were almost 30 of us.

Don't get me started on the roads leading to the "Retreat", it stated 1km but i felt it was longer bcus of the Gravel road, steep hill driving literally beside the Electrical Towers. My car was treated as a 4x4 car. At least make a proper road to the retreat.

They claimed they are under Negeri Sembilan Tourism but does not have surau. How do you manage to operate the resort without a Surau in Malaysia?

BBQ dinner you have to cook yourself, this is the first time going to a glamping where i needed to cook my own food. Food was okay, No free Coconut water as review mentioned.

The only good thing about this place was the Customer Service from Rara, Man, Ina and Ani. They were so accommodating during the whole stay. We believe they are also under staff as these were the only main people in the resort that we saw.

Also the table on the podium is a hazard, some of them used it as a staircase to the eating area and used the black table as a supporter but its not screwed on properly. It's a tragedy waiting to happen.

Overall, Price paid was totally not worth all these hassle, we paid for a Glamping not camping. For this it's a first and last...

I was here for Summer Escape 2024 which was a wellness weekend retreat comprising of a mixture of physical activities, meditation and social events. I stayed in the studio which was a cosy room with air-conditioning and bean bags to sit around. The toilet and shower facilities are just a short-walk from the room and the housekeeping staffs did a good work in always ensuring the facilities were clean & tidy.

Before my stay at the retreat, the team at Hooton Retreat was attentive to send me an email with a packing checklist and the itinerary for the event throughout my stay.

The food was prepared by the Retreat comprising a mixture of local and western cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals were adequate and flavourful. I was impressed by the attention given to the meals by the Hooton Retreat given that the place is not a resort.

Regarding the wellness retreat, I was impressed by how well-organised the event was and the effort put into making this event a memorable one for everyone. There were a variety of activities in making sure that the participants were occupied and also interact with one another such as yoga/meditation sessions, physical exercises and life coaching. I particularly enjoyed the nature walk organised by the retreat where the participants got to explore the forest nearby. At the end of the retreat, new friends were made and everyone left with a renewed sense of purpose (at least for me).

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Hooton Retreat. Just want to give a shout-out to the employees at the Retreat in making sure the stay was comfortable and always there to assist without hesitation...
