Hotel Seri Malaysia Kuala Rompin — Hotel in Pahang

We stayed one night, to take ferry next day to Tioman. ||Location is good. Bus-stop from/to Kuala Lumpur is right outside hotel. To the jetty it is about 10 minutes slow walking. Around jetty, there are also some eateries.||Overall impression: neglected.||Room: spacious. No safe, no fridge. Linen looked dirty and stained. However, the room itself looked clean, there was coffee/tea making facility as well as a complimentary mineral water, the A/C worked fine, a seating area was provided,||Bathroom: Needed cleaning. Pubic hair on toilet seat. No complimentary toiletries.||Towels were stained and had a grayish hue.||Breakfast: acceptable (some Asian food (no cards with name or ingredients), baked beans, toast, jam).||Staff: very friendly, check-in smooth, wifi working.||Pool: Did not try it, did not look very inviting. ||With some cleaning up, this could be a much more attractive hotel. It’s a Malaysian 2 star hotel, and not expensive, so even with expectations set low, I was still disappointed. ||The greeting at reception was friendly & registration was quick. The basic facilities are fine, the room a decent size, furniture quality fine & in good condition, efficient split aircon, flatscreen TV with plenty of channels. ||BUT....||The housekeeping was shocking. The wash hand basin had a patina of grime, both in the bowl and on the tiled surround. The same grubby smearing was on every light switch in the room. The toilet bowl had a similar murky tide mark. ||When I explained the situation to the young lady at reception, she was most apologetic. Two housekeepers were immediately dispatched to the room and it was given a reasonably thorough scrubbing. Both were very apologetic as they left.||End result - we stayed. ||Would we stay again? This hotel is the best of a bad bunch I think. ||||We arrived late - I chose this hotel as was told we could leave our car here for free. Upon arrival I was told there would be a charge but after showing the confirmation email they did not push for a charge (confirm this in advance if you go). ||||The room was basic and decor dated. The toilet was leaking when flushed and I would say this hotel needs updating - however if they have many guests like us who spent less than 7 hours in the hotel I can understand why commercially they don't bother. ||||If I was using this ferry terminal again I wouldn't stay here and would arrive in the morning to go straight for the ferry and would leave my car in the ferry terminal car park. ||||Check what time you're leaving for your ferry - as we left so early we couldn't get breakfast.
