Against my better judgement, I booked this as a stop over on the way to Taman Negara. It was cheap - perhaps too cheap, but booking.com rated it as 3 stars (I will be taking that up with them). But then, I thought perhaps as this was more off the beaten track, the cost was normal.||To be fair, we could not fault check in. The young man on reception was very efficient and did, in fairness say, if we were not happy with our chosen room, to let him know (maybe he knew something he was not saying). As we did not arrive until after 6 and would be away after breakfast, there did not seem to be much point, and not sure it would be any better. We booked a deluxe room which was anything but. ||You drive up to a rather dilapidated car park. Reception is on the 2nd floor by the restaurant. Our Room was on the first floor which meant lugging your luggage up the stairs - no porter. The room is very, very basic. The sheets on the bed may have been washed but were still stained. The furniture was sparse and dated. I took a photo of the wall plugs but not on my iPad, so cannot attach. I cannot believe they are legal! One seemed to be held together by tape. The aircon was ancient and very noisy, but may have been a godsend, as, at one point, it almost drowned out the noise of the barking dogs. As we were below the dining room, during the time it was open for breakfast or dinner, we had the pleasure of hearing the chairs being scraped across the floor. Nowadays most places supply a hair dryer, not this hotel. The shower was a joke and the toilet did not flush effectively, by this I mean, it was blocked although did flush - eventually. ||We did use the dining room. For anyone brave enough to risk this hotel, I recommend the marmite chicken. It was very good but service was somewhat abrupt and more like a canteen. The swimming poll looked clean, but would not have liked to sit around it. Very shabby. We could not get away from this place...
Read moreThe name Jerantut Hill Resort may sound so beautiful, making one think that it has some kind of resort facilities, ambience or management standards. How wrong I was!||||Check in was poorly done. We arrived at 12noon, and was told that we can only check in at 2pm. No apologies, no explanations, no offer to help store our luggage, nothing! Just kept mum after saying that check in was at 2pm.||||When we got back after 2pm, we were given a room key, and nothing else was said. We had to ask where is the room located; thereafter we were informed that it was in the next building, and we had to drive up to that building. It was as if the receptionist mouth was filled with gold nuggets and that opening it would make him lose his nuggets. The receptionist couldn’t be more unwelcoming!||||The room was bare, with only 2 units of really really tiny tube of shower gel. The toilet roll had only 10 pieces of toilet paper left and there wasn’t any spare one anywhere in the room. There was no shower cap or any tissue paper. The room smelled musty, and the air conditioning was not working well. Shower was low pressure as the in-built pump wasn’t working.||||There was no noise insulation at all. We can literally hear other guests’ footsteps and kids running around and crying.||||The next morning, we went to the restaurant for the complimentary breakfast, but was told that it wasn’t available because it was the beginning of Ramadhan, the fasting month. What the heck? I told the person in charge that I am not a Muslim and therefore I wasn’t fasting, but he was adamant that breakfast will not be served, even though it was supposed to be included in the room rate. What a rip-off, and wharalet down. ||||I seriously won’t recommend this hotel to anyone, as the service and the room kills the holiday mood. Better to stay in any other hotel which I am sure will offer better service, facilities and stick to their promise...
Read moreWe booked this hotel as our base camp to start the jungle trekking of Taman Negara last month when we (family of 4 - sister n brothers) went to Malaysia for holidays and it was wonderful experience. We booked a Standard Chalet with no meal option and stay was quite comfortable according to the location as it is a small town afterall so neither you expect a 5 star resort nor you need that if travelling for adventure filled holidays. The greatest attraction we had was that we can catch early morning boat to Kuala Tahan (Taman Negara) with fresh day start plus save a day, otherwise it would be very hectic to go directly from Kuala Lumpur to Taman Negara. Well the Chalet was very nice and it was end of the row so there was jungle on one side and otherwise windows on 3 sides and nice enterance. The staff was verrrry helpful and accomodating right from our booking experience till check out. They helped us to book a hotel on a very good rate in Taman Negara for next day and on our request, they served an early breakfast as we had to leave to catch boat to the forest. The breakfast was very simple and basic though but fairly acceptable. Wash room was ok too, no fancy fittings but practical and had nice shower with warm water. ||I would prefer to stay again at this place when ever am travelling next and will recommend fellow...
