We booked the Glass Shed 2 (3D2N) for me (7 months pregnant), my husband and my 4 year old daughter. Even with my pregnant belly and an active toddler, glass shed poses no issue for us with the stairs. The furnitures are quirky and unique, love the steel look that brings a certain artistic flair to the place. ||||We booked our stay in May but hit with interstate travel restrictions. The reservation / customer service team are so awesome in helping to extend and postpone our stay indefinitely. Despite my multiple emails, they have always been prompt in answering my questions and provide suggestions. Always friendly and never rude/ curt. Their email instructions are clear and concise. Plenty of information can be found on their website too. A big shoutout to the great team behind the scene. ||||We were greeted warmly by friendly Gurong who helped carrying our luggage. Throughout the stay, he entertained us with his interesting experiences with the guests, his stories back home in Nepal and his adorable daughter. ||||With Waze, it was easy to locate them. Total car ride journey from KL is 1 hour. ||||The first thing that struck us was how peaceful and quiet the surroundings were. We were totally immersed in the nature and greenery. We enjoyed the fresh crisp air, sound of crickets, cicada and croaking frogs. It is almost like camping in the woods without sacrificing comfort. We love that it wasn't overly commercialised like those glamping retreats in Janda Baik. We were looking for fuss free, simplicity way to connect with the nature and Sekeping Serendah ticked all the right boxes.||||We didn't mind the insects. In fact, we welcome the chance to educate our daughter on grasshoppers, beetles and millepedes. If we wanted a sterile environment, we would have stayed at home. My daughter was excited sleeping under the mosquito net. They have mosquito coils for you. ||||The hot high pressured water in our shower was a blessing. ||||We opt to have BBQ on our first night. It was set up on time and without fuss. Next morning, they just came and clean up the BBQ area as well as replenished the Milo and coffee packets. We had steamboat on our second night which was perfect as it was raining heavily. ||||Tip for Food: Pack your food in an ice box, easy to carry and keep them cold on the journey. They do provide a small fridge. There are wok for you to fry food, chopping board with knives and basic cutleries like plates, cups, spoons and forks. We packed bread as well so we can laze around with simple breakfast until lunch time. ||||The swimming pool was lovely. The water is cold and welcoming after a hot day exploring the nature. We swam everyday. ||||You can explore the next nearest town at KKB (15mins drive) for other kind of food but I wouldn't purposely allocate too much time outside the compound. We just went out to KKB for lunch and to buy necessities. ||||Time slowed down for us. We had time to read, play card games and stroll in the forest compound. Never once were we bored, not even my active 4 year old. She enjoyed lying down outside on the wooden platform, closed her eyes and listened to the nature sounds. No wifi, no TV, no laptops, no iPad - perfect tech detox! ||||We can't wait to return to Sekeping...
Read moreSekeping Serendah 10 September 1 night instant booking and stay. Chalet Glass Shed 2. 4pax rm500 additional 1pax rm50 and extra charcoal rm10. Had to pay cash as the minimum time for reservation is 48hour. Easy.
Booked via its own website. All room prices are standard, clear description of chalets and clear/ample instructions provided for the stay. I brought towels. Personal hygiene, clothes and food. Light packing only. Stairs quite steep and narrow to get into the chalet and upstairs bedroom, so i dont recommend kids or elderly unless they are really fit.
Amazing view the moment we entered its compound. Gated and guarded by its care taker. Quiet. Only 3 units occupied so surroundings seemed secluded and niceeee😊. Caretaker helped with a bit of luggage (thank you)provide instructions for the unit and map of the estate. Offered to setup bbq pit which he did at 7pm before he is off duty that night. No cell network, but wifi is good enough to make calls in case of emergency and some web surfing/messaging.
5 of us girls night out has been so much fun, bonding time was great because no cell service ‘forced’ us to sit and talk and bond. Unit space is just right size and comfortable for girls slumber party kampung style. I loved every moment, being a 47year old with young adult daughters and their friends, i appreciate this jungle homes as an alternative to city hotels theme park quick getaways. Even one of the girls kept on washing dishes, volunteer to cook and clean, because she said nothing else to do without internet. That is how much this place made her feel. Alived and present! This chalet surrounded by glass amazing view and ambience. Not overwhelming at all. Surprisingly, not much bugs considering we were in the middle of a jungle. Place is clean and we kept all rubbish in the bin closed. Windows and doors closed by 7pm and we lit uo few mosquito coils just to be safe.
Slept well. With mosquito net, repellant i had a good sleep. Woke up at 6am, had coffee then for morning walk. They have few walking tracks for guests to walkaround the estate. 2 swimming pools and water was great. It was raining and i still went in for a lap or two because it was too nice to pass up.
The unit has a wok, double gas stove, toast maker, water kettle, mugs, plates, utensils for light cooking.. we made maggi goreng with bbq chicken and hot milo/nescafe. It rains heavily again that night, but we felt safe and continue with card games charades etc till late.
Checkout was easy. We cleaned up the unit and caretaker came to pickup the key right on time 12pm.
All in all. WORTH EVERY BIT OF MY RINGGIT for a quick getaway from city living. Would come...
Read moreOur family of four had a wonderful, relaxing retreat here at Sekeping for one night recently at Glass shed. Even though it was our first time here, our experienced guide Gurung informed us that this resort has been around for more than 20 years. It is situated in the middle of a hill forest in Serendah and phone line reception is poor to none but their wifi is surprisingly good. With waze location, it is an easy one hour drive from KL.
Our well designed chalet for one night had very good kitchen facilities such as gas stove, fridge (cold but leaking), plates, cups, wok, coffee packets and bbq facility (which we did not use). Spacious house, comfortable, airy rooms and an outdoor designed private shower with hot water, everything was so relaxing especially at night with the peaceful sound of flowing water and night time crickets along with the low, cool temperature. We used the mosquito netting at night more to keep out moths, crickets rather than mosquitoes which were few. For day time activities, we trekked around this resort (easy 25min walk) and swam in the two nice, cooling pools. Service staff here are reachable all the time as they live on site and they were highly knowledgeable and helpful. Food is not part of the service here but provision stores and restaurants were reachable nearby in less than 15mins drive.
My opinion (based solely on my own experience) is that this place would not be suited for those aged below 5yrs and those with mobility issues such as above 70yrs as the terrain is not flat and the stairs into our glass shed is steep and without guard railing. Other than that, 24hr safety here was quite good and secure within the retreat compound. Similar to other guests' observation, there seems to be a band playing or music coming from the nearby orang asli village until about 11pm which may be far but sound really carries at night.
The nightly rate here is not exactly cheap especially on Saturdays (higher rate) and on school holiday / public holiday weekends (higher rate and crowded). Despite some small drawbacks, overall our family had a great time and plan to be back for another...
