I have been to Kanuhura starting of December, with my wife Veronika and my daughter Mia.
It was simply amazing:
Location: 5/5 Hotel: 5/5 Amenities: 5/5 Food: 6/5 Staff: 6/5
We were looking for a place to rest and come down from our daily hassle in Europe. We chose to stay on Kanuhura because of the great reviews, reviews which seemed almost too good to be true. But in fact, people are right, it is amazing.
We were welcomed in such a nice and great way, we really felt special. The landscape is amazing, perfect beaches, silence, no cars, no disturbing sound, apart the planes landing, but it felt like the planes came 2 times a day (I think there are planes 3 to 4 times a day), so this was not an issue at all. Especially because we were in one of the water pool villas, on the other side of the landing zone.
Our villa was amazing, too! It was huge and extremely clean (they clean twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening). Great is the outdoor bathtub in the villa, amazing feeling to take a bath half outside half inside. We also had a small pool, which was great for our daughter, and for us of course. The villa has access to the ocean (ladder) so snorkeling was easily feasible. You will also have a villa host (we had 2 because 1 had two days off), I want to send both of them my regards (sorry sorry sorry for the misspelling): Ahazan and Hassan. Both of them were simply great, I got my daily ice cubes for my Gin & Tonic ;-))
The rest of the hotel was extremely clean, too. I still wonder how they do it, you don’t see the staff cleaning up, anyways, it is a pleasure to be on this island. Especially the little night walk from the core island to the sushi restaurant, you feel like in a cozy and clean little jungle. We didn’t try all the activities like diving or fishing, we just wanted to rest and enjoy our time with our little 4 months old daughter. But there are a lot of activities, just check their homepage. Cool thing is the neighbor island, we went there with a boat (2 minutes trip), we were ALONE on that island, this is called peace! We already felt “alone” on the main island, but on the second, we were!
Concerning food, … this is something I will resume in 2 words, please excuse the harsh word: Food Porn!! The Chef, Michele, seems to be everywhere! He looks always so strict, but as soon as you say Hello, he shows his greatest and honest smile. I suppose he must be under stress to keep that amazing level of cuisine
Joke besides, the food is terrifically amazing, pure pleasure. They say that guests leave the island with +1 to +2 kilos which was not true in our case because we went to the small but super clean gym (a little hello to Jimmy, the nice fitness coach) almost every day, we played tennis 4 or 5 times in those 2 weeks (a little hello the tennis coach Jaroslav), played 3 times Squash (yes, they have a Squash court) and did our jogging around the island almost every day (2,1km if I am not wrong).
Every morning (breakfast, no comment, you can imagine how it is ;-)) the villa host comes the greet you and asks you if you need anything.
Suresh, I suppose he is one of the managers, greets you every morning and every evening and he makes the impossible possible. We wanted to have a table in one of the restaurants, which was booked out completely, but he made it happen. Actually, I have the feeling they never say No . They all make your stay simply unforgettable.
Another very nice person, I forgot the name, sorry, a German lady who worked also in Luxembourg, I suppose also one of the managers. Great person who speaks almost every language (I had the feeling )
Conclusion: AMAZING!!! Nothing to add, simply AMAZING. We all thank you for our great stay there, we will surely come back, that’s why we checked the island villas, our daughter will surely be running around January next year, so a water villa might not be the best idea ;-)
All of those I forgot, sorry, time passed, but I can assure you we will surely not forget anyone!
THANK YOU and best regards...
Read moreThis was our 4th trip to the Maldives since 2017 and we would rate this hotel 3rd out of 4 (previously been to Lux (South Ari), Sun Siyam, (Irifushi) and Shangri La (Seenu, currently closed). 3rd might sound bad but it is a close contest - all of the Maldives islands we have been to have been fabulous including Six Senses, it came in 3rd only due to the size and quality of the villa and pool/garden area which we considered too small and quite dated. We stayed for 12 nights in Villa 82, Beach Pool Villa on half board.||The pro's - we loved all the outside dining and the food was to a high standard (particularly Bottega) and we found the overall range suitably varied. Breakfast was a delight with fab smoothies, A la carte breakfast options and beautifully presented fruit. There was a one off Champagne dinner from a visiting supplier (thank you Perriet Jouet!! - loved that night). The beach was maintained well and we requested and used extra padded loungers closer to the beach (in addition to our pool villa loungers). We had sunset drinks most evenings at Sunset Point which is a great venue as long as you don't need shade. A trip over to Drift Island got us the best photos for our holiday, partly due to less sea grass present at the shore area. We did sunset fishing and the staff ensured everyone got a good catch (even if our own fishing skills were dreadful). We were blessed with amazing weather which was a surprise and delight compared to some of our previous trips.||The Con's - we considered our beach villa too small and the area around the pool unacceptably tight. The entrance area is so tight you virtually walk into a hedge to avoid catching your clothing on the bikes. The space to the side of the pool and hedge is barely a persons width. Some of the villa's furniture is dated. I liked the outdoor bathroom but would have preferred an indoor toilet option. On our first day we checked out the hotels main pools - apart from two sets of loungers at sunset point pool there is no shade (so ignore any marketing materials some travel agents use where you see cabanas and loungers present - it's bean bags only!). The main pool have cabanas but do not put padding on their pool loungers or on the nearby loungers on the beach - that is definitely not 5 star standard! One side of the island is more windy and unfortunately there was a strong drain smell present for several days when we walked along it that would have upset me a lot had our villa been located there. I did not mind the volume of seagrass in the water (it's natural afterall) but some guests might be shocked at how much of it there is.||My biggest frustration is that with a hotel occupancy of less than 50% during our stay, that my request for an upgrade was not taken more seriously. We were shown alternative villas all of which had no open sea views (which I had been explicit was essential) and these alternatives were mostly chargeable despite our 12 night length of stay. It was obvious walking around that there were plenty of bigger empty sea view villas we could have been shown. When I voiced my frustration to Patrick the GM around half way through our 12 night stay, it was not followed up in any capacity which we thought was poor. ||We wish to thank Rajee (our butler) for his fantastic support - you were amazing. Our housekeeper Sanjib was fabulous too. All the hospitality staff were super (I can't remember all the names - Maeesha and Jawadh and all the team). There was a super long serving Operations Manager who checked on us throughout. Thank you to the visiting Osteopath David Correia and the Spa ladies who we had a...

Just returned from a five night stays at Six Senses Kanahura and what can I say, it was one of the most memorable hotel experience I have ever had. First of all, they upgraded me to one of their newly built villas, which was much bigger than our own house. It was located right on the beach with multiple lounging areas never making it boring to relax in different places. We also had our own private pool which was perfect to cool off. On one occasion we decided to order room service and dine on the patio which had a large table that can accommodate a large family. Food was delicious and arrived on time. We were assigned what they call GEM's (Guest Experience Maker) by the name of Sameeh (sp?) who was very professional and always made sure that we were well taken care of.
The resort sprouts three restaurants which allowed us to never gt bored with the food. They have an Italian, Spanish and All Day Dining option which were all delicious. On one night they also organized a huge BBQ/Buffet offering that was absolutely exceptiona. The breakfast every morning was outstanding, with all fresh ingredients, healthy juices, smoothies and wellness shots. This is always our favorite part of staying at Six Senses, they nail the breakfast.
I forgot to mentioned that they have breathtaking views of the sunsets on one of the restaurant's rooftop which was ideal to enjoy drinks every evening.
We saw a lot of families on properties that all seemed to be enjoying their stay. They even had a Game Room which had numerous board games, ping pong table, pool, etc...
I forgot to also mention that they have a spa equipped with a cold plunge pool, hot bath, dry sauna, wet sauna which was ideal to use after a full session in their state of the art gym.
The best part of the stay was not the fact that they give delicious free ice creams for everyone to enjoy, it was actually the team that works there led by Patrick their Resort Manager. Patrick always checked on us and asked us if there was anything they could do better. We were blessed to meet some incredibly kind, smiling, gracious hosts as they call them. Diva was one of the most notable one who remembered us every day and was always proactive in making sure we were well taken care of. Ijuan (sp?) at their Earth Lab who took the time to show us around their indoor farming area. Lev the Restaurant Manager who always remembered our names and made sure we had everything we needed. Margarida the Executive Sous Chef made sure to come and speak with us and to see how our stay was going. Mark the Chef at the Spanish restaurant was excellent and made us try some delicious dishes that were close to the equivalent of what you would get in Spain. Juva (sp?) who is the restaurant supervisor was also amazing, he was consistently checking on us and making sure we were having the best time. I am missing many more names, basically everyone we encountered was just amazing people.
Oh, I forgot my wife had one of the best massages of her life, we can't remember the name of the host.
Thank you everyone for a remarkable...
