Equator Village is a delightful retreat by the ocean, enriched by the intriguing history of the RAF Royal Air Force station from World War II. Gan Island eloquently showcases its colonial heritage through the scattered remnants of old RAF barracks and bungalows, harmoniously coexisting with lush tropical greenery. At Equator Village, you can look forward to a poolside bar, a terrace, and a coffee shop/café. With amenities like a beachfront location and scuba diving, this hotel is the perfect place to soak up the sun. Treat yourself to a facial, a massage, or a body scrub at the on-site spa. The on-site buffet restaurant, Blue Lagoon Restaurant, features international cuisine. Stay connected with free in-room WiFi, and guests can find other amenities such as a garden and laundry facilities. You'll also enjoy perks such as: An outdoor pool and a children's pool, with sun loungers Free self-parking Bike rentals, an outdoor tennis court, and a roundtrip airport shuttle (surcharge) Express check-out, express check-in, and a front-desk safe Gan boasts verdant tropical greenery, beautiful blue waters and links you to the very explorable Addu Atoll via a causeway. Located in the southernmost region of the Maldives, Addu has gracefully preserved its natural tropical charm throughout the years, unaffected by the hustle and bustle of modern life. With a captivating history that includes the presence of the British RAF and a brief independence movement, Addu and its resilient inhabitants proudly maintain their autonomy and unwavering spirit. Every Friday, guests can enjoy a vibrant cultural show featuring Maldivian locals showcasing their unique way of living through traditional dances. The lively atmosphere is enhanced by live music hours, creating a truly immersive cultural experience. Room features: All 78 rooms offer comforts such as air conditioning, in addition to thoughtful touches like free WiFi and safes. Extra conveniences in all rooms include bathrooms with showers and bidets, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, balconies or patios, refrigerators, and electric kettles. Equator Village combines comfort, convenience, and a touch of luxury, making it an ideal choice for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in the Maldives, while offering a fascinating glimpse into the island's rich historical tapestry.

The hotel is not a 5 stars resorts , so don’t expect too much. This hotel is currently the only hotel in Addu that has Alcohol license. If you are staying in other guesthouse, there will be no alcohol. This hotel is quite old, you can notice from the room smell, toilet smell, as well as furniture that rusted or pain came off. However, everything still working well, so other than its old… everything else in the room works fine including wifi!! Food wise, its a big let down. Even for local dish like Mashuni and roshi! Mashuni has too much of coconut while roshi is so thick and dry. This is by far the worst mashuni with roshi i have after living here for 2 years! They also dont have espresso machine, so thats a big minus for me. Service is good. The staff are nice and eager to help out and getting to know what their guest wants. If you are like me, who take the same drink, you wouldn’t have to order on your second day…just show your face at the bar or sit down in the restaurant and they will have your drink ready for you! Pool is in goos size and looks clean. A bit of a pity that the pool side bar was not open during my stay. Would have been better with the pool bar. The beach has a lot of seaweed. So I did not dear to swim, but I saw a fee people went out for snorkeling and some said they saw turtles. However, the hotel offer free snorkeling tour at 10am and 2pm everyday. So that could be something fun to do if I stay longer. They also have bicycle to use for free. Its very convenience for me as I have to go to the next islands quite often. Using a bicycle definitely a much better choice than walking. On Monday night, they have live band musiic starting from 8pm, which is quite a nice activity! All in all, my stay was okay. My highlight of the stay were all inclusive package which allow me to drinks!! Monday music, and bicycle for islands exploring. Last but not least, Thank you for arranging airport transfer at 4.10am instead of 3.25am!! That extra 45min of sleep means a lot to me!

Stayed here for 4 nights on the all inclusive package. We were a little apprehensive about the quality of the Village considering how affordable the all inclusive packages was compared to other offers but were very happy with everything. The rooms were spacious with working air con, wifi (all through the resort) hot water, mini bar with free water, towels (bath and beach towel) and large bed with daily turn down service. The all inclusive package included all you can eat buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner (set hours) which included both meat and veg options of Maldivian, Indian and continental. The food was fresh and tasty, perhaps not 5 star, but you get what you pay for and we were very satisfied with the options. Afternoon tea between 4-6pm was also included with tea, coffee, sandwiches and Biscuits or cakes. The bar was open from 9am-12am and the all inclusive package included beer (raffles), wine and bottom shelf spirits. The pool was large with plenty of pool side lounges. The resort sits on the beach front of 3 private beaches where you can do some light snorkling. There is a well equiped gym and a spa service that offered 30% off treatments. The all inclusive package also offered free bike hire (fyi- 30km round trip of the entire island was a nice ride), 1 island hop boat ride and daily snorkle trips (am or pm options). If you didnt bring your own snorkle gear you could hire it but it was expensive and was cash only with a $100usd deposit. This was the only down side we experienced, at an all inclusive resort we didnt think we would need that much cash. We ended up riding into town and buying a pair of goggles each. So would reccomend bringing your own gear or bringing enough cash with you. The staff were excellent, very friendly and accomodating. Most of the guests at the resort were from Eastern Europe so the staff knew how to speak German, Russian, English and I'm sure more. The shuttle to the airport was $6usd each, each way and was a door to door transfer (only 5min drive).

We were very excited to come to Equator Village during our stay in Addu. In advance we booked a room for day use for the three of us, which got confirmed by the resort.I was traveling with two local friends who wanted to show me their home island. Once we reached, reception was quite busy so they asked us to wait in the lobby. We were served a welcome drink (package juice) and the glass it was served in was already broken. Nevertheless after waiting for around 20 min, the receptionist was coming to proceed the check in. Surprisingly he was talking to us in Dhivehy even if it was quite obvious that I'm European, not a local. He rudely ignored my presence and explained my friends that we can't have 1 room for day use since unmarried couples can't stay in a room. Furthermore he explained that if I wanted to drink alcohol, I have to sit on a separate table. He offered that I can book a single room and my two guy friends can pay 20 USD for pool usage. After that he disappeared and did not attend us anymore. Those things could have been discussed before confirming our room, since resorts usually don't follow this kind of policies. We decided that we all will pay for the pool use only and went to reception for payment. He continued speaking in Dhivehy and was advising my friends that he will kick us out if we would not behave. Also he explained that we have to pay another 20 USD each to get beach access (even if a proper beach was not even existing so obviously we refused). We went to the pool area and were checking for towels. After checking with the bar staff, I went back to the reception to get towels for us. The receptionist told me he will check and I have to wait in the lobby - again. After 15 min he still didn't get back to me, only after I went to talk to him again, he told me there are no pool towels available in the whole resort. I asked for shower towels but he said those are not available as well, and that towels are not included in the pool package. Quite funny since I saw other guests coming with fresh pool towels to the pool side. It was quite obvious that he just wants to get rid of us. I told the receptionist we want our money back so that we finally can leave this place after all this waste of time - luckily he agreed. ||We've all been working in a 5 Star Resort in Maldives, have traveled within Maldives and I've been in 47 different countries but I have never experienced such a rude, disrespectful and unprofessional behavior like that. Every staff in a backpacker hostel or simple guest house knows better how to treat and handle guests and gets better training then in this so called "resort".||After my friend left his honest review, the resort manager called us to apologize which we first appreciated but shockingly after a small talk he asked us to remove the review. For someone working in hospitality industry for years, this is quite...
