Had the pleasure of spending two weeks with my family, teenagers early and late years. This hotel is a boutique in all things they do and their focus to ensuring you have the best experience is exemplar. Thanks for the time and effort shown. We will be back ||||Airport Pickup||Staff were on hand at the airport to pick up myself and the family. They were easily identified by their uniform and name tag. They loaded luggage into the shuttle and the ensured we were settled before taking us to the hotel. Upon arrival they took our luggage to our rooms. ||||Initial Reception ||Our host from the onset was very good and explained the layout of the hotel together with meet points for any emergencies. She also explained the general rules around the hotel and made us feel so at ease. On getting the times for breakfast lunch and dinner they fixed us some delicious finger bites as we had missed out connecting flights and ended up arriving 6 hours later than planned. This was much appreciated as it was late. Freshly made Pizzas were such a lovely surprise. ||||Food||To say the food is delicious is an understatement, the chef is amazing!!!! Kitchen layout is open plan giving you an airy feel. Guest toilets are located nearby negating to need to return back to your room for a comfort break which is good. Chef whipped up some amazing meals from traditional Maldivian meals to intercontinental meals. Meals were well seasoned and catered for all spice levels. I have two picky eaters and their palates were catered to which is at both extremes of the heat level! ||Best Bit I must say is the delights that were cooked up from our night fishing trips. Kids absolutely fell in love with the freshly baked breads and brownies!!!||Breadfruit chips are a must try for sure. So many local treats were also on hand. ||||Staff||Staff were friendly and pampered us thoroughly the stay. Then ensured rooms were thoroughly cleaned and trash collected. They also ensured that we were kept hydrated with refills on drinks Whenever we were at the table or at the poolside. ||||Rooms||Booked the ocean view rooms so apologies for not knowing what the other rooms are like. The rooms are lovely and rival many 5* resorts. Very clean and sheets are so comfortable. View to the ocean is breathtaking. We were faced with 3 days of continuous rain upon arrival and it was refreshing to be able to be in a very airy space. The same goes for the games room. Our host was on hand to show us their karaoke machine as well as the variety of games. This made the days when the rains were here so much more enjoyable. 👏🏾||||Entertainment ||Snorkelling lovely reef just a short swim from hotel providing the ocean is calm. ||Local dance night. Brilliant to burn off excess calories from desserts. ||Beach picnic. Great for tasting catch if done the night after a fishing trip. ||Fishing a must do. ||Kite surfing, my son got one to one tuition with a local professional. After 10 hours of tuition he was up on the water and handling the kite and board. He hopes to be doing a flying jump in the next few hours. 🤦🏾♂️||Octopus hunting. Brilliant to see in the wild how it is done I am still in awe. ||Diving given you have enough time as it is so addictive. ||Beach walks. Also opportunity to walk both shorelines. Both a short walk from the hotel. ||Sunset cruises well worth doing this as you get to see the reflection on the water. ||Shell hunting along the coastline. Note that you are not allowed to take coral with you for obvious reasons. ||Indoor pool is so refreshing on warm days. ||||In conclusion Viluveli hotel is my new favourite spot. The service feels so personal it is a refreshing touch in what has become a very impersonal industry. I am so glad there exists a place like this to enable what is the ability to reset in a much hectic world. ||||Digital Nomad||I have had the ability to work remotely for a couple of days whilst here with no problems. Read moreAmazing hotel, Thomas was helpful at every turn - my friend mentioned we were looking for fresh coconut water and he offered to get some coconuts to serve us that day! The servers Parakas and Russell were extremely attentive and friendly. The cook, whose name I didn’t get, was amazing. Every meal was delicious.
Located right next to the bikini beach, we went swimming every day and felt extremely safe. The rooms are cleaned spotlessly every 3rd day, so your room is free of sand and receives fresh linen. You may also wash clothes for a fee if needed.
This is a wonderful spot for long stay (week to a month or two). The WiFi overall is good enough for video conferencing or streaming, so as someone who was working remotely it got the job done.
The island of Hanimaadhoo does not have too much going on so it’s great for rest and relaxation, leisurely snorkels or diving, island hopping. Not necessarily a place to keep kids constantly entertained, but I’m sure it would be easy enough for a kid to entertain themselves with all the hermit crabs on the beach.
Anyway, back to the hotel. My only sadness is that I didn’t book the spot for longer. Thomas was accommodating with the room, flights from Malé, and anything else we needed. We even met the lovely owners of the hotel who were extremely personable. Locals came by and dropped of native fruits for us to try and chatted a bit as well.
I can’t wait...
