Surf Yoga Retreat — Hotel in Himmafushi

Just returned from an eight night stay at the Surf Yoga Retreat had a good stay which could have been a great stay with a few minor tweaks by the management.|Good points.|Firstly the surf guide/manager Rory was a fantastic host really helpful and a great ambassador for the Retreat, many thanks.|Hussain the chief delivered wholesome good food every day and also catered for my gluten free dietary requirements exceptionally well, many thanks.|The surf boat staff were a good team and having spent a lot of my time on boats I felt safe in their hands.|Didn’t do any yoga with him but Johnny was a really nice chap.|Not so good.|The smell from the shower drain due to no U bend in the drain was very bad I over came it by covering the plug with cling film whilst the shower was not in use and a simple cover supplied by the management would provide a cheap solution if a U Bend could not be fitted.|The drinking water is provided by plastic litre bottles of water which is such a waste of single use plastic bottles there must be a better option for either a water dispenser with larger bottles or a fresh water supply from the water factory on the island.|All in all a good trip with some great waves I would definitely recommend SYR for a good value surf and...

We stayed for 4 nights in August.

1. Our double room was run-down, the sheets had fiber beads sticking out as they were old which felt like sand all night and there was no housekeeping at any point in time.
2. From our 4-day package, which we booked specifically to have 8 boat trips, only 5 boat trips were run (1 lasted 15mins). It is reasonable as it was rainy one day, but no refund was offered.
3. Out of the 5 boat trips taken, 1 was to Honky's and 4 times to Jails! The boat was pretty run-down so it was actually faster and easier to paddle out to Jails, we learnt.
4. 3 meals daily were alright and a good source of protein.
5. Johnny was great and looked out for everyone although he is just the yoga instructor.

For US$90 per person per night, I would not recommend this place.

Horrible place! These people care only about money! They receive money and disappeared - this is their job! They don't answer phone calls, emails - nothing! They left me alone in the airport without any information how to go to their island, they gave one number for booking.com which is wrong! They have another number on another website which is also don't work (or maybe work but they not bothering their selfs with answering phone calls), and they also closed as a property on TripAdvisor - so they do what they want. But want they only money without doing anything for that money! They totally destroyed my Bday, because I spent it in airport searching how to go there by organizing transfert to that place but everyone knows that hotel should book a place in a boat for you.
