I stayed at this resort for 7 days and had a happy time. Located at the southernmost tip of the Maldives, Addu Atoll is connected by a bridge to three small islands. On this island you can understand the local culture of the Maldives and it is also suitable for scuba diving.
Accommodation This hotel is a small accommodation with only 7 rooms. All 7 rooms have the same shape and view. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable enough for a couple. Cleaning is done every day and every day, and the sundeck and other places in the garden are always kept in a clean condition. Since it is an island and a very dry area, there may be mosquitoes and ants, but the room is perfectly protected from mosquitoes and ants.
Surrounding environment The resort is on the west coast of the island. The scenery here is serene and peaceful. Being able to see the beautiful sunset every day is the biggest advantage of this resort. I've been to Equatorial Village, a larger resort on the east side of the island, a few times, and the east side of the island is always exposed to the wind. However, this place is completely protected from the wind. Just in front of the resort is Robinsons Island within walking distance and on the other side of Robinsons Island you will see the horizon of the Indian Ocean. The only downside to this resort is that the beach right in front is shallow and not suitable for swimming as it is not sandy.
Restaurant and food The restaurant at this resort is a local favorite. In the evening, many Maldivians always come to this resort for a meal. The menu is varied, from Western dishes such as pizza and hamburgers to Asian dishes such as nashi goreng and tandoori. The quality of the food is the best on the whole island and the service is excellent. The food comes out a bit late, but if you ever visit another restaurant on the island, you will feel that this restaurant serves the food really quickly. During my stay, I asked the chef for lobster and steak, although it was not on the menu. The chef served us delicious dishes at a really reasonable price. Moreover, the romantic table setting just for the two of us was a gift they prepared for us. Thank you again.
People The resort managers Shaed and Sharaf are smart and wise Maldivians. They reliably respond to all customer needs. You should definitely book domestic flights to Gan through them. If you purchase tickets through them, you can make a reservation at 50% of the cost of the Internet. Also, the staff at the counter and all the staff in the restaurant are very friendly and fluent in English.
Willingness to revisit I miss my time in the swing hammock of this resort so much. It's a very remote island below the equator, but if I ever get a chance, I definitely want to visit this place.
Finally, I would like to say thank you to everyone at the resort, including...
Read moreTerrible Experience – Not a Real Hotel
I had an awful experience at this so-called “hotel.” First, they missed my airport pickup, leaving me stranded. After waiting for a long time, I had to take a taxi myself, wasting over an hour. When I finally arrived, the only thing they said was about the Check-in was at 2 PM, so I can wait in the lobby. When I mentioned the missed pickup, they insisted they were there but somehow “didn’t see me”—which makes no sense, as the airport is very small. I was expecting them to apologize and welcome me properly, give me some advices about the island.
Then I realized the “sea view” I paid for didn’t exist—apparently, the sea hasn’t been in front of the hotel for two years, yet they still advertise it. And didn’t update their pictures.
Once I got to the room, it was a complete disappointment. The room was old, dirty, and poorly maintained. The boiler had disgusting old and smelly water , and I had to clean it multiple times. The fridge was moldy, noisy, and had leftover bottle from previous guests. The bathroom smelled like sewage, and the top shower was not usable. They didn’t even provide basic amenities—no hand soap, no coffee or tea (despite what the website said), and nowhere comfortable to sit.
It felt more like a restaurant with rooms rather than an actual hotel. The front hotel is dirty and they even don’t remove the garbage , plastic bottle laying there.
Speaking of the restaurant, it was under construction, so all I could hear was construction noise instead of relaxing ocean sounds. To top it all off, the front desk lady staff was rude and unwelcoming—no smile, no greeting, just bad attitude.
I absolutely regret staying here. For the price I paid, it was a complete rip-off. I would never return and would strongly advise others to avoid it. I went to True south and Equatorial divers lodge to spend my day and eat ( I strongly recommend those two hotels if you stay in Addu).
Important point : You need to know there was no place to relax—no deck chairs ( like advertised in their hotel pictures), no chill beds, no bean bags—just tables and chairs for eating. I came here after my diving safari, expecting to unwind, but there was simply nowhere to do so. I couldn’t even enjoy my time at the hotel because there was no proper space to sit back and relax. Fortunately others hotels owners were friendly and agree to host me for the day.
The day I left , they were organizing a wedding party , I understood better why we have all these tables and chairs in the common area and no deck chair.
Honestly, they should stop pretending to be a hotel and just run a restaurant, because they clearly have no idea how to host...
Read moreMy dream come true! I always wanted to go to Maldives, but because of the expensive resorts and hotels it did not happen. Finally I saw Wave Sounds, beautiful and affordable! Is it really so? We thought we take the guess and go for it. And yes, when we arrived, someone was waiting for us. So far so good! At the resort open en friendly welcome with a fresh coconut drink. After the formalities the lady showed us the resort. And believe me, I was just looking. We were overwhelmed, it is true! the rooms, the view, everything looks like the pictures. Too many to mention! The rooms was very clean and good designed. Nice that the middle room, where you can store your luggage and clothes etc. The roomboy checked our room several times a day and if we needed something he did it right a way. From the window of my room I could see the sea and the island. Magnificent! We had taken fullboard, the food was delicious and varied. The cook and waiter were very thoughtful. Even more! You can walk to the island. From the island you have nice view of the resort and the Indian ocean. You can also have dinner on the island. There are plenty of opportunities for snorkeling, cycling and much more. We chose to see the dolphins, that was great. I had never seen so many dolphins! Watching the sunset from my deckchair, the moon and stars. Amazing, my little paradise! Not to forget. The day before we left they decorated our room with flowers. Above all the whole staff is very friendly and helpful. Our sincere thanks to the entire team of Wave Sounds. And especially to Mr Saeed who helped me to reach Gan and the owner who especially helped us to buy souvenir the night before we left!! So nice! The resort, beach, water, everything is very clean. The whole day they look for it.
In sha allah I will come back. And to all people who is looking for a holiday at Maldives. This...
