My wife and I spent eight nights at Kudafushi Resort & Spa and we were thrilled to find that our expectations were exceeded. This was not our first trip to the Maldives, so we had a previous experience to compare it with.
Here are the reasons why we loved the resort: A representative from the resort greeted us directly at the airport and helped us with everything we needed until we boarded the local flight for transfer. The transfer was fast and efficient once it started. We were transferred with a domestic flight (Ifuru) and a speedboat from the resort was ready to pick us up. We were upgraded to a Beach Villa with Pool. The best part was that nobody bragged or made us feel obligated to do anything because of the upgrade. It was a genuine surprise to us. The AC in the room worked perfectly, and we had no issues with the temperature. The room was spacious and provided maximum privacy. Our villa's backyard could not be seen from the beach by anyone else, which made us feel more comfortable. The beaches were cleaned multiple times per day, creating a more comfortable environment for guests. There was enough time allocated for each meal, so we did not feel rushed while eating. The resort used WhatsApp to communicate with guests, which was really convenient. Any issue could be addressed by the resort in a matter of minutes without waiting times. We wanted to fly our drone and the resort's policy was accommodating. We only had to ask for permission, and they guided us on how to do it without affecting anyone's privacy. We could fly, but we had to respect others, which we appreciated. The house reef was full of marine life. We saw many species of fish, eagle rays, stingrays, baby sharks, stonefish, turtles, octopuses, dolphins (one day they came close to the reef), eels, and more. Snorkeling was very enjoyable, with easy access to the reef, even when the tide was low. There was plenty of life on the island, not just in the water. We admired the fox bats, birds, geckos, lizards, and other creatures. We had plenty of options for sports (tennis, football, gym). Nobody pressured us to buy anything, and we received information about activities every day via WhatsApp. The staff was friendly, and we did not experience any inappropriate behavior. We especially appreciated the efforts of Davide, HH, and Xen, who did their best to ensure we enjoyed our vacation. The staff was experienced and tried to make our vacation better. They even helped us with two special requests that were not their responsibility. Check-out was easy, and we were offered the opportunity to spend some time on the beach and extend our All-Inclusive package until we had to leave for the seaplane. There were no extra costs. The resort was spotless, and we received twice-daily housekeeping visits. Once a day is enough, but it was good to know that the resort is committed to cleanliness.
Other things that might be an issue for some people (but were just fine for us) were: The WIFI internet is filtered, which limits the use of video streaming services or apps that consume traffic. The food was good and we always found something we liked, but it wasn't as diverse as other resorts in the Maldives. It was tasty but sometimes lacked variety. The resort operates on a different time zone than Male, which can be confusing (it's one hour ahead). Once you get used to it, it's not a problem. There are two types of all-inclusive packages, and one does not include alcoholic beverages. This was not an issue for us since we were informed when we booked our trip, but it's important for others to know so they're not surprised by additional charges. Due to erosion, a part of the beach is protected by barriers. If you don't like this and you get a villa there, it might be inconvenient. However, given that we're in the middle of the ocean, it's understandable that erosion can occur.
Overall, our experience was exceptional, and we would definitely return to Kudafushi if given the chance. Thank you for organizing our...

Read moreWow! We decided to choose Kudafushi as the destination for our honeymoon and we couldn’t have been happier about our stay there. I’ll start with some initial details of our trip for anyone who is searching for a similar trip. We were traveling from the United States and wanted to stay on just one island rather than hopping around. We chose the overwater bungalow with a pool We stayed 9 nights We selected the all-inclusive option including alcohol The total cost for the trip ended up being slightly over $7,000 (not included airfare and additional purchases that were made on the island). I can honestly say that the nine nights I spent in Kudafushi were the best of my life. The entire staff put in so much effort into making sure everyone is having a good time. The dining staff always makes sure you have a drink (whether you’re sitting at one of the restaurant, at the buffet, or even outside the bar at a small table on the beach). The buffet staff are friendly and make connections with the guests. They have several stations in the buffet: dessert, pasta, grilling, fruit, breads, salad, and a themed selection that changes each day. You have the choice to dine at two separate restaurants: Sea Edge (seafood and Mediterranean) and Olive Me [pronounced “I love me”] that serves great Italian food. You need to make reservations at those restaurants a day in advance but the buffet is always a good option too since the food is great and it requires no reservation. We tried each of the restaurants once and went to the buffet for all other meals.
They have a number of staff there that work on maintaining the appearance of the island. There are such small details they focus on here. They even have staff who sweep sand on the paths so they are easier to walk on. They have staff who make the palm trees more aesthetically pleasing by cutting off sections that are getting too large. It started raining one morning and the all the staff were all hands on deck to make sure that guests who were eating outside we able to stay dry. Overall, Kudafushi takes great care of the island and lots of it happens behind the scenes.
The excursions are great too! Although we didn’t take advantage of the scuba diving, we were able to go snorkeling and on the sunset cruise which were both incredible. I didn’t think I would ever be excited about seeing a shark but the snorkel instructors let us know that the sharks don’t attack in Maldives. There were so many of us that when I got in the water, I was hopeful that I’d see one! (We ended up seeing one about 30-40 meters away from us!) We also used the jet ski, the paddle boards, the kayaks, and also spent lots of time just using our own equipment exploring the sea life around the island. We saw lots of amazing fish (lots of Dory’s from Finding Nemo as well as a sea turtle, a baby shark, and a small sting ray). Everything there is so beautiful but the pictures don’t do it justice.
Finally, the relaxation was the best part of the trip. If you’re looking for things to do, they have a daily schedule of events including karaoke, beach sports, group snorkeling trips, scavenger hunts, live music, etc. We never felt forced to do those activities and were really able to relax the entire trip. The music in the restaurants is mostly instrumental. There is a nightlife, which we couldn’t hear from our bungalow, which worked out for us. We did stop by a social at the bar one night after a sunset cruise and it seemed like a really chilled out lounge vibe. Everyone was having a good time and guests were able to meet the different staff on the island.
Overall, this was one of those trips my wife and I will only be able to take once in our lives. The island itself and every single staff member made it SO worth it and I'll never forget the time we had there. I wish we didn't...
