I'm hoping not to write so much that you stop reading, I say that because our trip was a FANTASTIC, AMAZING, SPECIAL, ROMANTIC, FUN, RELAXING, experience. ||My wife and I were celebrating our 10yr wedding anniversary and we chose The Hideaway Beach Resort and Spa, and we were over pleased with our decision to go here. We've never been to the Maldives nor do we have friends who could have given us recommendations or advice. Our research was purely reviews and YouTube videos of other people's trips. But now... yes but now, we, can advise our friends and family, and for their first trip to the Maldives we will HIGHLY RECOMMEND to them to go to the Hideaway.||We stayed on one of the water villas. It was so romantic and set up perfectly for our specific trip. With a private pool and the ocean just steps away (literally just down the steps near our pool) taking a late swim or a swim was completely on our time. 7am, 12noon, 9pm 1,2,3am, it didn't matter. Swim or lounge at your pleasure. And trust me...we did just that. Now I wouldn't recommend going into the Indian Ocean in the black of the night, but you could, that's my point.|The sounds of the ocean through our time in the villas was fantastic. So calming so relaxing. And very private. Though other guest can swim or float by your villas everyone respected each other's space and privacy.||The food options were massive. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was always different for us. We stayed 7 days 6 nights and every day was different food options for both myself and my wife. My breakfast was almost the same daily, only because I like specific foods during breakfast, but my wife mixed it up a lot.||The entire staff was friendly and very helpful, smiling all the way, never a moment that made us feel like they didn't care about our comfort or needs. For the fact that I'm not the best in remembering names, especially after meeting you once or twice, for me to remember these staff members is huge. Some staff went above and beyond, like one of the buggy drivers, Mannu. He was insightful and knowledgeable of the resort and he waited for us on occasion to accommodate our movements. The servers and chefs at all the restaurants, all very well skilled and trained to make sure you are taken care of. Especially the staff led by Mr Safar, the manager at Matheefaru, one of the restaurants on the island. He greeted and spoke with every guess but we felt like we had a personal touch of extra attention, he was fantastic. In our opinion, though all were great, Rahul, server at Meeru Bar was our most favorite. His attention to detail and the way he interacted with us made us feel like Presidential VIP guests. He served us during our private dinner on the beach and went the extra mile taking our pictures and chatting with us. I'm sure he's one of the over 300 staff members who most guess will remember.||And this paragraph is specifically for one person and one person only. Our resort assigned butler. Mira. Mira the magnificent. Mira the maker of joy. Mira the marvelous. I can go on and on about how great Mira is and how great she was to us during our stay. We thank GOD for connecting us with Mira. I can't speak about any other butler but I'm sure they too are great, but I know for a fact that we were given the BEST butler on the island. I dare any guess who have stayed at the Hideaway to prove me wrong. We can compare butler to butler. Mira literally stayed on top of our movements by giving us options and recommendations on things to do daily, and restaurants to eat at. She was never annoying or over persistent. We never felt like we were being pressured to just spent extra money. She had reservations made or altered without hesitation. Her communication was spectacular, always checking on us but never at the wrong time or with any annoyance. Knowledgeable of the Hideaway Resort and even of the Maldives. Very professional, always smiling, just a pleasure to have available. We never waiting long for an answer for questions, she was always available for communication. Top of the Top. Again, we thank God for linking us to Mira. Now whenever we return we will specifically request no other butler but Mira. We will recommend to our friends and family to request for only Mira, there's none better. ||We didn't know what to expect other than what we saw and read online (maybe like you now) but after going to the Hideaway we know what top class treatment feels like in the Maldives. So yes, my wife and I will return and it would be hard to try another resort after our experience at the Hideaway.||Oh there is one thing we didn't enjoy to much. The water sport area. The jet ski and car speedboat, all other motorized activities is similar to anywhere else we've done them, so nothing too different about that. The over water obstacle course looked fun, however it was hard to get to especially if you're not a good open water swimmer. I myself am a decent open water swimmer but I used a vest for aid. And upon finally arriving on to the obstacle course, it was boring to use and I felt I worked to hard to get on it but it wasn't worth the effort. The swim there and back was difficult and I waisted my time (yes, even being on vacation). ||Wow, if you're still reading, thank you for taking time for my review, I really hope it helps you decide to go to the Hideaway. All in All, we've traveled to other countries and experienced resorts in this category but hands down The Hideaway Beach Resort and Spa is top of the list for my wife and I. I highly recommend...
Read moreIt is our second visit to Hideaway and the 6th time visiting the Maldives. This time my wife and I came with our two daughters, their husbands and our two grandchildren. |We stayed in the Sultan Signature Villa. Two years ago the two of us stayed in a Family villa not far away from the Signature villas. |The new villas are on the North Beach of this beautiful large natural island, facing sunset and secluded in between a lot of natural bushes and trees offering a lot of privacy. Even though the Signature villas come at a considerable price tag they offer something spectacular and to us unique: we felt home in our villa, we felt like on our own private island and beach for two weeks and there is absolutely nothing missing in this luxury home, 4 enormous en suite bedrooms, a gym, steam sauna, a large living/dining room next to a wonderful pool deck, large pool with slide and our stretch of secluded private beach. We all loved it and even the grandchildren had difficulties to leave the pool when returning home. ||Jasmin or Yasmin was supporting, caring, advising and organizing everything for us during our stay, taking us with the buggy to any place we wanted and was extremely friendly and patient with us and the children. This personalized Service was from our point of view maybe the biggest difference between Signature Villa and Non Signature Villa. Yasmin: thank you again for your kind support during our stay. ||General speaking it is the staff at Hideaway who make the difference to other resorts. Always friendly, always helpful, always with a smile in their face. ||Another topic where Hideaway in our opinion stands out compared to other luxury resorts is the Quality of their restaurants. We stayed on a Signature White Platinum plan and where impressed by the culinary qualities Hideaway has to offer with OASIS and Samsara being our favorites ( often getting close to Michelin star quality ) while Meeru Bar and Grill or Sunset Pool or Matheefaru buffet where also great choices. |There were very limiting items which were not included in AI ( in particular lobster ). |Another highlight I want to mention is the quality of beef tenderloin or lamb rack ( OASIS )… the best we have experienced so far in the Maldives. |When Hideway would manage the same restaurant quality consistently every day they would qualify for me even as a 6 star resort. Sometimes quality and preparation is inconsistent and varies from excellent beyond dream to normal and average. ||Willy, head of the local Padi diving center was helpful and flexible to teach my two daughters and son in law’s diving. My younger daughter unfortunately has post COVID, but Willy catered and supported so that even she could do her open water and nitrox exam. We were lucky to even see Mantas very close on three of our dives and I enjoyed having my children sharing my hobby for diving and the Sea. ||The House reef of Hideaway isn’t bad either. The corals are in a much better condition than anywhere else in the Maldives and we saw turtles, octopus, moray eels, lion fish, lobsters, jacks and tuners next to all the colorful reef fish abundant at home in this region. Sharks are not that frequent but eagle rays are at home at the house reef and often pass by in large groups ( up to 11 we have seen ). ||The watersport center was also friendly and supportive. I could do some topcat sailing together with the children and they have a nice water castle and trampoline for the younger guests. ||The Signature villas are beyond everything we have experienced during 40 years worldwide luxury travel. |The Signature White Platinum plan could in our view however be a little more distinguished to the standard AI white platinum plan with some more inclusions; but the AI plan and the beverage package was without question extensive and of excellent quality comparable for example to Amilla in BAA atoll where we stayed last November and beyond Outrigger Mafushifaru where we stayed twice before. ||It was a wonderful experience for all of us with a feeling of never wanting to leave or definitely wanting to return as a family all together to...
Read moreHello everyone. For a long time I read reviews about hotels in the Maldives and stayed at this hotel. And for our honeymoon we decided to choose this resort and our expectations are not even close to what we expected at this resort, they were exceeded several times. So let`s start in order.
Location and how to get to the resort. The island is the farthest from Male, and you can get there either by a seaplane (if you`re lucky), or by plane on a domestic flight, and then you will be taken by the staff on a fast boat. Upon arrival, we had the second option at 19:00, and back we flew in a seaplane, which we were very happy about, everything depends not on the Hotel, but on what the Male government will provide.
Arrival Upon arrival, we were met by our butler (personal manager) Yana and the general manager Christophe Adam, who asked how we got there and quickly gave us a couple of papers to fill out, and took us to our villa in a buggy. By that time it was in perfect condition, cleaned and prepared for our arrival. The air conditioner was turned on so that the villa was 20 degrees before our arrival, when it was about 30 outside in the late afternoon. There was also a compliment from the hotel in the form of fruit and a cake.
Villa Our villa was spacious: a large bed, a jacuzzi, a dressing room, a terrace. The shower and bath were overlooking the ocean. Also, if you didn`t want to go far to swim, the villa has its own pool (during the day the water is cooler, and in the evening the water was heated and became about body temperature, which was very cool), as well as its own exit to the ocean by the stairs from the villa. There is also a large selection of different bathroom accessories (toothbrushes, shaving kit, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and many other things for personal hygiene).
Kitchen We had a package that included a buffet for breakfast and dinner, of course it would have been more convenient for breakfast and lunch, but this was not the case. Breakfast - for breakfast there have always been various types of egg dishes, types of 10 granolas, the same amount of fruits, vegetables, sausages, cheeses, sweet buns, donuts, etc., who wrote here that there is not enough food, I do not understand what else a person needs for breakfast, since we did not have time to try more than half in 6 days, although we always took a little bit of everything. Lunch - for lunch we ate only on the last day, we took lobster rolls, tuna tartare and ceviche, what I want to say here are virtuoso chefs and masters of their craft, everything is always very tasty, you can immediately see the level of education and skill of those who cook here. Dinner - every dinner, every time it is a separate cuisine (Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, etc.), there is always marbled beef, chicken, fish cut into pieces, which will be grilled for you. A different number of side dishes and a large abundance of fruits, vegetables and desserts, of which there are also a lot, that if you take a piece, you will not have time to taste everything either, all desserts and all dishes are very tasty, such in Odessa or Kiev are rarely found.
Food prices What I did not see here is the prices, I advise everyone to download the Hideaway Beach Resort application, there are approximately current prices for entertainment, and there is also a menu of almost all restaurants on the island. Prices for meals (on average, a dish costs $ 30, if seafood, then a lobster $ 35 per 100 g, $ 10 fish per 100 g, coconut $ 6, ice cream ball $ 4, steak $ 35), this information will be enough.
Service As I wrote above, everyone on the island has a personal manager who will help in any of your questions. We had an excellent personal manager, Yana, who was always in touch on WhatsApp and often helped with my questions, we were very happy with this level of service. Always in the morning, Yana threw us off our schedule for the day (if we had planned some events in advance), and always wondered how we were feeling, whether we like everything, and also took feedback about each event,...
