Mr. Syed Fahad : Dhigafaru Island Resort, Maldives : Customer Feedback

I Mr. Syed Fahad had booked the Dhigafaru Island Resort, Maldives through the Make My Trip Portal from 29.05.25 to 02.06.25 please. I had booked the Dhigafaru Island Resort, Maldives. I had travelled with my wife & a year old son. We had a genuinely horrible experience; allow me explain the same.

Unavailaliility of Wifi at the beach: The Wifi was strictly limited to the room; no Wifi at all the beach. That means no connectivity beyond the room at all. Owiing to this we had to stay confined to our room majority of the time. Thus losing out on the serene landscapes & natural beauty of the place which was Utterly disappointing.

Property infested with mosquitos: Due to ongoing monsoon; the amount of mosquitos as increased drastically. The property having already known this; should have made necessary arrangements such as mosquito repellents and sprays in the Property premises including the rooms, Unfortunately none of this was done. It was a health hazard besides inconvenience to the guests. Having a small child with us was a very risky; considering the health hazard.

Marketing gimmick with respect to the room: While booking the room online it mentioned "Sunset Beach Villa". Logically one safely presumes that the sunset must be visible from the room. Unfortunately, it was not. Thus a complete play of words by the Property's marketing team to cheat the guests please. Felt extremely cheated, having travelled this far & losing out on the serene landscapes & natural beauty of the place.

Lack of information wrt the activities at the property by the Hotel's staff / Concierge desk: We understand; that there were a lot of activities to indulge in at the property. Unfortunately, the guests were just not informed about all the activities available at the property proactively & elaborately by the hotel staff / Concierge desk. Thus; despite doing quite a few activities ourselves; we were not able to explore most of them something that we as guests would have loved to. To summarise; left us with a feeling of not gettiing our money's worth.

Poor quality of food (Buffet) & arrogant hotel staff: a. Stale & reheated food served: The food was evidently stale & being repeated after being frozen and reheated. Upon informing the hotel staff; no heed was paid to our complaint. Evident arrogance on their part.

b. Bad taste of the food & a health hazad: The taste of the food was not good at all. Rather, I & my wife were down with food poison after eating this food. We safely attribute this to stale & reheated food being served. Certainly a heath hazard please.

c. No refilling of food once over: We logically expect the food to be refilled once over of the heated serving containers at any buffet table. Unfortunately that was not the case here. Upon informing the hotel staff; no heed was paid to our complaint. Evident arrogance on their part.

d. Very limited variety & stale fruits: Besides being limited in variety contrary to our expectations; the fruits were stale. Upon informing the hotel staff to replace them; no heed was paid to our complaint. Evident arrogance on their part.

To conclude our experience: a. This is just a 2 star property sold as a 5 star property by the hotel. b. Not recommended at all based on our experience. c. Were evidently mislead & cheated as guests. d. A truly horrible experience.

Thank...

This is s delayed review as my previous one failed to post.||||We went to this amazing resort in March 2025. We were greeted by a representative from the resort at the airport and escorted to the seaplane terminal, where we had short wait. I have read reviews of people having a long wait here but I guess that depends on your arrival time and seaplane schedule. The seaplane transfer was an utter delight. I was anxious as to the tf from the plane to the landing jetty but it was all fine.||||Being our first ever visit to the Maldives, we were blown away with the welcome we received when we stepped on to the island. The memories will stay with us forever.||We were booked into a semi water villa. This was amazing. The outside bathroom was a new experience but it was great and very clean. The room was spacious and well appointed. The outside decking was a little below par in areas, some of the wooden planks needed replacing and some footwear would be advisory but did this affect out enjoyment of the accommodation? absolutely not!||The beach and pool areas were amazing. The walkways through the lush green gardens were magical. Sunbeds always available, the views and scenery stunning. Very quiet and little evening entertainment but we loved this, but some may find it a little too quiet. Never tired of the views - the most amazing beach we have even seen.||||The staff all work incredibly hard especially in the pool bar and restaurant. Our room attendant was great and the detail, right down to sweeping the sand on the path to our villa several times a day was superb. I can honestly say that the staff we interacted with were amongst the friendliest and happiest we have ever had the pleasure to meet.||||Negatives none really. If I was being really critical some of the dishes served in the buffet restaurant could have been hotter but we were impressed with the variety and quality of the food.||We had use of a kayak, free of charge for 30mins, This was fun to do. The staff here could have maybe been a bit friendlier, but to be fair we only interacted with them once so could have been a bad time. The variety and abundance of the sea life was mind blowing. ||It would be nice to have an area of the bar for adults only and I think that under 16's should not be allowed in the games room as we saw young unsupervised children mis-using the equipment and don't think this is right for the staff to have to deal with,||||Although this was our first visit to the Maldives, due to a fire at the London airport and our return flight got cancelled. As we were already at the airport there was nothing our resort could do to help. Long story short our 10 day trip turned into 16 days (no complaints here!). The reason I mention this is that in that period we were placed on 2 other islands. Therefore, our review is not based on just one experience but 3. Although both the other islands were great & more expensive, we felt neither came anywhere near being as good as Dhigufaru. ||This trip was meant to be a once in a lifetime experience but we are already looking to return again next...

An experience which will stay in my heart forever.Started with a bit of a hiccup though as we were informed by the seaplane guys(TMA) that our luggage would be sent later.Nevertheless,we checked into our veli pool villas. The kids(ages 19,12) were excited to have their separate room. Day1-We freshened up and went to explore the island. It is so gorgeous that I dont have words to describe it.The beach is beautiful and the colors of the ocean are endless and keep changing at different times of the day.We enjoyed the most glorious sunset and gorged on the dinner buffet while enjoying the views of the full moon and the waves right next to our table. The servers were attentive and warm, the food was delicious and the balmy ocean breeze was soul soothing. Day2-We headed post breakfast for the dolphin cruise after a peaceful night's rest.We spotted countless dolphins and it was a euphoric moment indeed. What an experience! Snorkeling is always top in our list and that's what we did next. The arrival jetty area is what we explored and we were not disappointed.Numerous fishes were sighted by us and we used our own full face snorkeling masks which made it easier and fun.The water in this area is not choppy at all and very good for snorkeling. The sunset on this day also was surreal and we happily clicked pics at the beautiful sandbank. Day 3-We moved to our bodhanfulhu(overwater) pool villas which are the epitome of luxury.Neat well designed rooms, plenty of outdoor space and the infinite ocean right in front of us.The odd numbered villas have a sunset view and we were lucky to get both with that. The kids enjoyed swimming between the two villas and having fun in both the pools.Snorkeling wasn't that great on our side, though. We visited the mantas in the evening which arrive like clockwork at 5pm daily. There was an event at the bar that night with live music and it was the best way to end a beautiful day. Day 4-We snorkeled near the games area today and it was fantastic. The sea is full of corals here(most are sadly, dead) and countless varieties of fishes. We also saw some sharks and some fish eggs as well.In the evening, we headed for the sunset fishing excursion and returned victorious with a huge catch.Between the 4 of us,we caught over 20 fishes. We enjoyed our last dinner there and the buffet was fab with tremendous variety.Later,we chilled at the viewing area and enjoyed watching the marine life by night. All in all,the most incredible holiday ever! Special mention-Ally Adam(manager) who ensured that everything was well taken care of, right till the moment of departure Sharuvaan-for his help and guidance Sayana-our personal guide on the island Servers-Anees,Haazim,Hassan,Nihadh,Niuna,Saanih Tips-1)Opt for a split stay between beach and water villa to enjoy the most. 2)Explore this snorkeling paradise by carrying your own full face snorkeling mask and reef shoes as corals are quite sharp and can cut you. 3)The excursions are a must-do 4)Mantas meeting time-5pm daily 5)Take a lot of pics to preserve the...

We stayed in one of the Veli beach villas for 10 days (room 109 was perfect, in the center of the main beach) For us the 10 days stay was perfect, I think we could have even stayed few nights more without getting bored at all. We are the more laid-back type of travelers who like to read and just relax, but if you like a lot of activities there is plenty to choose from. We read comments from others saying they felt harassed by staff to partake in activities but we didn´t really experience this. Things we liked about the resort: - Amazing nature and quiet environment. At times we felt we were alone on the island and have a private beach. - Very friendly and professional staff who were very attentive. Mohammed from guest services was especially good and made sure we were taken care of. The kitchen and waitering staff were also really friendly and the chefs really tried to accommodate our dietary requirements in spite of limited resources on such a small island. - The vila was cleaned twice per day, although we didn´t require this. Small downsides were the wardrobe in the room – very impractical and basically no shelfs to put clothes on. The internet is not great, but assuming you don’t need fast internet constantly it is manageable. You can actually get a sim card at the airport and use it while there. (Get Dhiraagu sim card, not Ooredoo as they have very limited coverage on this island) The biggest downside for us (and many other people who’ve commented on this) is the chained Macaw parrot (Oggie) – it is chained on maybe 50-60cm chain and seems bored out of her mind. We saw her multiple times chewing on her chain and the plants around her (it seems they like to chew stuff and as there are no toys there for her, she chews what she finds which is not a lot considering her very limited space). We looked at previous comments of the management regarding this and saying they intend to release her but given that she´s been there for 3 years it seems highly unlikely that this will happen. If released, she would most likely die – being away from home (Brazil) and due to her inability to fly properly or take care of herself at all. There are still things to be done to improve her life, so management and future visitors please act on it. Parrots require a lot of mental stimulation, in the wild they pair with another bird for life – this means that they have someone to interact with at all times to keep their mind engaged. So, for future visitors, please stop at your local pet shop (or Amazon) before you get on the plane and bring her a toy – there are all kinds of chewable toys for parrots - make sure the toy gets installed for her and of course during your stay stop and spend some time with her, she will be forever grateful!

Pros: -Maldives is definitely a beautiful place. The sand, beaches, weather was really good -Rooms are as seen in pictures. The semi water villa is very underrated. It's right on the shore and the sound of the sea at night is so pleasant. Cons: -There is difference in the way few people speak to other tourist vs Indians. -The service is pathetic. The first answer to any request is NO. -Room service is very slow and at times they just ignore the request. We had requested for tea cups a night before our checkout. Called at 6:30AM and then at 7:30 but never got the cups. -Service is very slow at Thundi pool baar. -The person who helped in checkin never showed his face again. -We need to book any activities even if it's complimentary but we were not given the complete details on when we need to book and few of the activities are done on specific days only. -The water villa was evidently not clean as in picture. After calling the reception instead of checking they were insisting that they had already double checked. Although after requesting someone came and cleaned the room. -While shifting from semi water villa to water villa our luggage took 2-3 hrs to reach our room after calling multiple times. -We had rashes. Not sure because of pool water, food or hygiene issue. -The shower as well as wash basin of our pool water villa was clogging. The slope of the shower is not towards the drainage, infact it's opposite. -Food is just ok. There were flies all over the buffet and sitting area. Saw a cockroach as well near Thundi pool bar. -We also had a very bad checkout experience. The night before we were told to keep thing packed and leave room at 11:30 and our seaplane will be at 12:30. Next day I was running little late so at 11:25 I called to ask for 15 min more. The receptionist told that I can take 10 more min. Then after 2 min we got a call that the flight is preponed to 12:00 and we need to checkout immediately. We hurried up and reached reception and did the checkout. They were continuosly hurrying us and in this chaos we left our tripod at reception. We have a 5 min boat ride to seaplane deck. After reaching there I informed that we left the tripod at reception. 1st they denied that it's not there, then scolded us for 5 min and then finally send the tripod. They have multiple excuses for their pathetic service and we are supposed to understand that but they don't understand our situation at all. Even though the place was so beautiful felt really relieved to return back to India.
