This excellent resort is based 35 minutes by Seaplane from Male International Airport or just over three hours by speed boat. The first impression is a lovely island, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk around. You have a choice of either beach bungalows or over water villas. If you have to choose the beach bungalows, insist on the ones that overlook the lagoon and water villas. The beach bungalows based on the dive centre side unfortunately have beach erosion, and the fronts of several bungalows have sandbags on the fronts, which is a pity. Some people will fuss over this too much and decide it is not for them others will not mind. The bungalows on the opposite side don't suffer from erosion or have sandbags. The over water villas are lovely, large bedrooms, large bathrooms shower cubicle and large bath included with aircon, also there is an outdoor shower area you can enter the bungalows through either the front or back, the back leads straight into the shower area which is good to shower off after swimming in the sea and not walking sand through the bathroom, there are also stairs that lead straight in to the sea. the lagoon facing bungalows would be my first choice as they are more sheltered from the open sea, (numbers 201 to 212) the others face out to sea and if there is a wind it can be quite rough, all the water villas have steps into the sea. The rooms are cleaned once a day with a further turndown of the rooms in the evening. Beach towels are provided and can be changed every day. There is a fresh water lake which you can swim in surrounded by a restaurant and bar. Beware there are mosquitoes so bring repellant. I did get bitten numerous times so avoided the lakeside bar during the evenings, day time was ok. The resort has a sea view facing restaurant used for morning breakfast and afternoon lunch which offered a varied choice each day, plenty to choose from including cooked breakfasts, pancakes, omelettes, bread, fruit, yogurts etc. Evening meals are provided in the lakeside restaurant and the beach view restaurant so offering an alternative, it is not 3 star Michelin standards but does provide a varied selection of food for most tastes, meats, salads, desserts etc. Only complaint was that there was very little choice for lactose , gluten intolerant people. The resort has a dive centre and dive school, which offers try dives and excursions, and more advanced courses etc. There are excursions to nearby Islands and snorkelling trips prices vary. Average is $25 to $35 Staff are polite and helpful. There is a small gym with very basic equipment, table tennis, A tennis court, and Boules pitch. You can hire snorkels masks fins from the dive centre or get some from reception. The last day of your stay you can request a late check out. The lagoon is safe and goes to a maximum depth of 3 meters and provides a fantastic chance to see the marine life, on our visit, whilst swimming we saw a black tip Reef shark in the lagoon, very Inquisitive but generally harmless, just don't touch these magnificent fish, shoals of baby squid, Octopus, Parrot fish, surgeon fish etc absolutely brilliant! Thoroughly enjoyed the stay at the resort which offers either bed and breakfast, half board, half board plus which includes a drinks package or all inclusive and is well worth the visit. The staff were excellent, polite and worked very hard. Be aware there is no nightlife more a pure...
Read moreWe stayed at Dreamland Maldives for 14 days in July 2025 and chose it specifically for peace, natural beauty, and to celebrate our wedding. While the setting is stunning, several aspects — especially the wedding planning and customer service — left us extremely disappointed.|||The Good:||• The reef outside our water villa was incredible for snorkeling. It felt like swimming in a giant aquarium. We saw all kinds of fish, even baby sharks.||• The villa itself was spacious and private, though in need of maintenance (paintwork, exterior).||• We loved the peaceful, adults-oriented vibe — no loud music, no kids clubs — just the sound of waves and chill-out music/a singer and some 80s music all to our taste.||• Buffet meals had good variety, and the island is casual, so no dress codes or shoes needed.||• All of the staff (with the exception of management/reception) were hardworking and friendly despite being clearly overstretched.|||The Not-So-Good:||• Sun loungers for water villa guests were scarce — around 12 loungers for 30+ villas. Most are claimed early with towels, leaving many guests without a proper spot to relax.||• Excursions are expensive and often cancelled last-minute. The boutique shop is overpriced ($100 for a lilo!) and even a short boat trip to a nearby island cost $40 (not worth the money unless you just want to get off the island)!||• We had to visit the medical clinic, which provided great care — one of the few highlights.|||The Wedding – A Major Letdown:||Our wedding experience was poorly handled. There was no wedding coordinator, no spa treatment arranged (as promised), and key details were missed. The ceremony itself was special although they used a generic script mentioning children — laughable, considering we’re nearly 60. During the romantic dinner, we had to use phone lights to see our food due to only 2 candles being blown out by the wind. Why they don’t use some battery operated lights is bizarre!|||Most upsetting was the missing wedding cake. We were told our cake was being sent to us but later found out it was given away to staff. We said to give some to staff but all of it – really!!! Management offered a different cake — not a proper replacement. The whole situation was handled with zero empathy and left us angry and heartbroken.||Reception & Management – Disappointing:||From the start, reception was disorganized and unhelpful. The final issue was a forged signature — we were told we owed $100 for a transfer we’d already paid for. Management presented a fake signature from my husband. Our travel agent confirmed we owed nothing, but management refused to acknowledge their mistake properly.|||We received a bottle of wine and a "Happy Holiday" message in our room we can only assume as a possible apology as we received no verbal apology — a gesture that felt empty given the stress and disappointment we experienced.|| ||Final Verdict:||If your stay goes smoothly, you may enjoy the island’s tranquility and beautiful snorkeling. But if anything goes wrong, be prepared for poor communication and zero accountability from management. This place operates more like a business transaction than a guest-centered resort.|||For us, what should’ve been a joyful wedding and relaxing holiday turned into an exhausting, stressful experience. |||We would not return and do not recommend Dreamland for weddings or special occasions if you want a...
Read moreWe spend Christmas and New year's eve in this Hotel. It was our second trip to Maldives and although the reception staff seemed a bit confused and unprofessional at first they did everything to make our experience really great. The hotel is quite New. They opened The island on February 2018 and the management and employees have still room to learn and improve. We also had a little argument about using our drone as we are aerial photography enthusiasts and before we came to the island we had no information about their policy of not allowing drones (we realize that for some that might be an asset) usage on the island (we might have chosen a different resort if we knew), but at the end they did let us use it in designated areas and they did inform the rest of guests in advance. (a little tip here for anyone planning one using a drone on your holiday in Maldives: be sure to email the hotel about their policy on them as MANY of the resorts don't have any information on their websites!). The island itself was really small which for us (couple) was a big asset. The spaces between the bungalows are quite fair and rooms themselves very spacious. That gave us impression of privacy. We had a pleasure of having both beach bungalow and water bungalow as we were given a free upgrade for couple of days. The pool in the middle of the island was a nice asset as well. There wasn't many sunbeds there but barely anyone used it at the time, swimming there was very tranquil and relaxing. The Resort's two restaurants (one on the lake, second one on the beach) might be quite boring as they serve the same food in both and there is not as much choice as in bigger resorts but whatever they cooked tasted great. Only downside for my partner was a lack of natural juices. Two bars on the island were also well managed, the waiting times for the drinks were very brief. We want to give special thanks to Sami and the rest of bar crew for great customer service. Finally about the all-inclusive package. Compared to the other hotels visited by us on the Maldives (in similar price range) it really shines. There is about 15 coctails to choose from plus a variety of local drinks and wine (premium brands are charged extra as expected). There are no silly regulations about the amounts of drinks and water You can take to the room. You can use any of the bars and restaurants. No one is trying to sell You any extra services or excursions (they are fairly priced by the way around 35usd mark). Other things You have to pay extra for are water sports and tennis court. Christmas decorations looked magical. The new year's eve party was the best...
