We are back home, to the grey skies of England and missing the wonderful hospitality of the Corinthia already. It was not much fun having to make my own breakfast this morning!||Our flight was an early one, so when we arrived, well before check-in time, the room was not yet ready. The very warm and welcoming Reception team were very accommodating and explained where everything was, so we just grabbed our swimming things and headed for the pool, leaving our luggage in their capable hands. ||After our bonus day of relaxation, we were delighted to be given a lovely room with a balcony, where we could sit and enjoy the sea views. The room was spotlessly clean, with a huge comfortable bed, mini-fridge and big bathroom, with both shower and bath. We had absolutely everything that we needed, including a free safe at eye level (always a bonus, I think!) and an ironing board. Each day, the room was serviced promptly and it was a pleasure to come back to. The housekeeping team are superb and worked tirelessly to polish every surface in sight, keep touch points sanitised and public spaces, including the bathrooms immaculate.||The location of the hotel is ideal as it is only a short stroll from the madness of St Julian's. Lazing by the the side of the adults only pool, we felt a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of action down the hill. However, if your nightclubbing days are not behind you yet, it is easy to walk into town, where there are so many different places to eat, score a Happy Hour bargain or dance the night away. It is also very easy to order a Bolt/Uber/white taxi to go sightseeing and there are bus stops just outside the hotel grounds. We found the Bolt service efficient and good value.||Whoever designed the Corinthia did a great job. Although the hotel was pretty full, the layout is such that it never feels crowded or too busy. There are lots of different pools, including a toddler pool, a Lido and a strip of sunbeds where guests can sunbathe by the sea. Our favourite spot was the adults-only pool, which was calm and relaxing. It did not matter what time of day people arrived at the pools, there were always plenty of sunbeds available and as a result no silly nonsense at dawn with people fighting for the best spots. The spa team ensure that fresh towels are readily available and we could get dry ones when we needed them. ||Om, who is in charge of sorting out the pool areas does an AMAZING job. I am an early riser and I enjoyed our morning chats as he opened the parasols and checked that everywhere was kept clean and ready for the day. He works so hard all day long and is very focused on ensuring that gusts have everything that they need to be comfortable. Thank you, Om! ||Huge thanks too, to the lovely team at the Oasis pool bar, who worked tirelessly in the heat to ensure that we had nice cold beers and delicious cocktails. I wish that I had made a note of the names of the two very helpful bar staff there - one chap with an impressive moustache and an older chap. Neither one was on duty on Saturday, but I hope the manager can pass on our thanks for us. ||The staff responsible for catering at the hotel also deserve praise. Breakfast is a real highlight of the day. Thank you to Kim and her team for the warm welcome each morning and for keeping the huge variety of food on offer well stocked and attractively laid out. There was definitely something for everyone, with a range of delicious fruit, cereals, pastries, bacon/eggs etc and even a fresh juicing machine for those tempted by a celery and cucumber juice. We passed on that pleasure in favour of a cheeky morning Prosecco on more than one occasion, but the coffee was also excellent.||There are a number of hotel based restaurants to choose from for those who don't want to venture far. We had a great meal at the Broadside, but our favourite was probably the Italian because of the exceptional service from Donald, the Manager and our waiter Anjan. Donald was well organised and it was impressive to see him walking round his restaurant checking in with guests that everyone was happy and well looked after. Anjan was attentive, but not overbearing and was happy to chat, sharing some useful tips about places we might like to visit. The food was delicious and cocktails even better! ||Spa lovers will benefit from a trip to the Apollo Spa, where even Ayurvedic treatments are available. I thoroughly recommend Annie, who looked after me so well. Prices are comparable to UK spas and there is something for everyone, including a jacuzzi and sauna. The hotel also has a small, functional gym with equipment placed in front of the windows, so that the views can be enjoyed whilst working out.||Some reviewers have commented negatively about the building work taking place nearby. There is indeed a new hotel under construction nearby and a large crane is in place. However, during our week's stay we were never once bothered by noise or disruption. Remember that there is a lot of building work taking place on the island overall.||Malta is a great place for a holiday. There is lots to see and do, with boat trips to the caves, the Blue Lagoon etc, beautiful sights such as Mdina and history in abundance, including museums explaining the important role the island played in war time. We found that the Corinthia was a perfect place to position ourselves and could enjoy lazy mornings by the pool before an afternoon of sightseeing. ||Thank you SO much to everyone at the Corinthia. We have had the most wonderful holiday and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who values a warm welcome, good service from staff who really care about their guests and of course, a...
Read moreMy husband & I have been visiting this hotel since 1998, so that tells you something. We primarily come to Malta for business, but we always manage to fit in a few rest days. The hotel is in a fabulous location, near enough to walk to Paceville & St Julians, but quiet enough if you dont want any nightlife. There is a bus stop about 50 metres from the hotel entrance with regular buses to Valletta & the rest of the island, they are cheap and easy to use. The hotel - the bad. Well the hotel rooms are extremely tired, and in need of renovation, they are very dated. We have been advised the hotel have started a program of renovation to update rooms one by one. That said the rooms are kept spotlessly clean, you can have as many clean towels as you wish, bottled water in your room, fluffy robes & slippers, a nightly turn down service with chocolates on your pillow (please note we were in a delux room with access to the exec lounge so other rooms may have a different service.) Drinks are hugely expensive. The good - great breakfast service! Lots of different breakfast options. I am gluten intollerant, I informed the breakfast staff of this on day one and each day they remembered & brought me gluten free toast, I even had a choice of white or wholemeal. They also did gluten free muffins & biscuits. The exec club - we paid extra to use this service but it was worth every penny - if you miss breakfast you can go & have it in the exec club, where they serve snacks & light bites all day until 10pm along with water, soft drinks, tea & coffee, beer, red & white wine, all unlimited. On many days we used the club for lunch, eg today they had small platters of greek salad, yesterday melon with palma ham etc. We do have 2 major gripes about the exec club a, the room itself is in the wrong position. There are 3 outdoor balconys that get zero sun. The room itself is well appointed & well laid out but freezing cold due to the air con and totally souless. It would be lovely to be able to sit on a balcony in the sun enjoying a drink. b, you are not allowed to take any drinks away from the exec club. We wanted to take a glass of wine to our room so we could sit in the sun - not allowed. I was informed it was because guests were not allowed to walk in corridors with glasses. I understand this might be considered "unsafe" but if you've paid to access the food & beverage service in the club (a bit like being all inclusive) does it matter if you drink a wine in the club or in the comfort of your room instead?? Management, you really do need to rethink the exec club option and at the very least move it to part of the hotel where guests can enjoy a balcony in the sun, and also has shaded areas. There are soo many parts of the hotel where this could be accommodated. Exec club - a special mention to Marika who looked after us, she is an absolute star and also Mohan who is charming. Being on business I must mention Edgar the concierge - he faultlessly arranged all our taxis for business meetings, lent me paper, pens & a folder to take notes when my laptop died and even assisted in helping us book a round of golf at the islands only golf club. Taxi - our driver Stefanie was prompt, professional, and a very safe driver. All in all the reason we keep returning is not because of the fixtures & fittings (the hotel is tired....) but because of the super friendly staff, fantastic service, quiet surrounding area, convient location, great swimming pools, plenty of sun loungers, chilled atmosphere. There are a number of lovely restaurants on site and its only 10 mins walk to the hub of paceville. We will keep returning - but Mangement, please take note about the comments regarding the exec club. It needs to move to a better location and be more flexible about what drinks guests can have away from the club - we've paid for them!!! Update 27 May - i got a reply but hotel manager Jonathan did nothing to address my grievances about the exec club - he obviously does not care. Am extremely disappointed. Maybe after 26 yrs i will go to a hotel where...
Read moreWhere do I begin? This is now our all-time favourite hotel. As you drive up to the hotel you will see significant amount of building work (finishing spring/summer 2026). Don’t be alarmed — you can’t hear the building work at all, but can only see a crane from one aspect of the outside.
Reception: We arrived three hours early and were greeted by Nina who gave us the most incredible room and looked after our bags while we used all of the facilities. Perfect welcome — thank you, Nina — our room was wonderful and the additional time at the resort was very welcome.
Our room was always spotlessly clean and tidy, thanks to Sankita and housekeeping. The fridge was great ans Sankita gave us fresh bottled water ans towels every day (as well as coffee etc when we required it).
Breakfast: Allow plenty of time for at least three courses! The selection is vast: cold meats, pastries, cake, fruit, full English, a juicer and much more. Holiday breakfast is always one of my favourite elements and can make or break a holiday. I’ve been to many lovely hotels and this has the best breakfast. I must also add that the service was exceptional. The restaurant managers at breakfast were superb— the atmosphere was calm, incredibly friendly and welcoming every day. Although there is self-serve coffee, Raju at the bar makes a really special coffee and iced coffee just how you request it (iced latte etc). What was quite exceptional was his memory for his customers’ preferences — by day two he’d already got our preferred coffee ready without us needing g to request it! I’ve never had service like this, particularly impressive considering the size of this hotel!
The Broadside is another fanatic culinary experience. Right on the waters edge, enjoy the sunset as you enjoy exquisite food. The complementary mezze was particularly good, as was the fish main course. We were too full for dessert, but that also looked good. Kim (who we also saw at the breakfast restaurant) was another exceptional staff member: she knew every aspect of the menu, made great recommendations and nothing was too much trouble.i should I also add that Mylen, Ana and Sangeela were wonderful.
Now, the real highlight here are the sheer number of pools, each with a sea view! The weather is hot and the water was absolutely perfect. There are plenty of loungers, so you will always find somewhere to sit. If you have small children/babies, look out for the children’s shallow pool near the tower (accessed from the corridor don’t he indoor pool) — small and quiet with lots of empty loungers. Pools are open 8 - 8 and become very quiet from 4 (our preferred time). We also enjoyed the indoor pool, lingers ans jacuzzi. The changing rooms next to the spa, indoor pool and gym were always clean. Lockers can be hired with a €10 cash deposit (not sure if they take card) which is fully refundable. We didn’t use the spa but the gym was great — lots of modern equipment and a panoramic view of the sea from every single machine.
We saw the hotel desk offering lots of advice regarding trips and local suggestions. We had already booked a day trip to the blue lagoon (hire a snorkel for €5) and Gozo which was absolutely spectacular! Valetta was equally stunning — allow at least one full day here and try to eat at one of the many small restaurants in the steep side streets.
In short, this is the friendliest, most professional hotel, with the most exceptional facilities that we’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. The resort is vast with many bars and restaurants to suit everybody. We will definitely be returning!
One final point: I don’t often name staff in my reviews, but the impressive service deserves to be recognised, so I began to keep a record of names in hope that the hotel management rewards those who go to such lengths to ensure guests have the best possible experience (which we did). Well...
