Hotel Verdi St; Georges Bay Marina (if it has not changed it's name again?)||Take a walk with us:-||After disembarking the plane and proceeding to the arrivals area, after having collected our baggage and on the pathway to our transport and accommodation??? (Well we thought we were)||As you enter the arrivals area, it is internationally standard practice for the awaiting/ordered/paid for private taxi/transport driver to be in such a position as to be "clearly seen, and holding up a board with "your name on it"!|| We have done this many times previously in many parts of the world with no problem!|| There were a lot of boards with lot's of names on but NOT one with ours on it! We even took a second look!|| We queried this at the taxi booth. The guy took a look at the booking form provided by Hays Travel and directed us to a man, who further directed us to get into a mini bus, NOT a private taxi as paid for! It turned out that there were several other people already in the bus and others followed us!|| After a couple of stops, we arrived at The Corinthia Hotel! Here the driver asked us to collect our bags, then drove off (c. 0100h)|| On entering the hotel, the desk clerk looked at the papers and said, "you are at the wrong place you should have been dropped off at, The Sister Hotel!"|| We asked him if he would get us a taxi, his response was "it is only a short walk", he came out of the hotel foyer and pointed out where the actual "HOTEL was!|| He pointed out a building with "Pink Lights" and said, "That was where we needed to go! Getting there with baggage took some time!|| When we arrived there, it turned out to be an Italian Restaurant ,which was closed!|| We walked a little further along the road (baggage and all) and came to an entrance which turned out to be the access to the Verdi Hotel Foyer! At this point we had NEVER heard of, or, been told about "The Verdi". It is noted that in all the discussions during the booking process the name "Verdi" was never mentioned! or documented!|| The Verdi turned out to about a 12/15 minute walk away! It has to be pointed out at this time that we had been soaked by pathway sprinklers when they went off and were having to man handle our luggage and personal belongings????|| By the time we finally got checked in and to the room it was past 0200h!|| It has also been noted that the local agent who emailed us obviously did not give a dam! He asked for details of the problem and we never heard from him again, let alone saw him! In any business I have been involved in, he would be sacked for incompetency!||||So, all in all a major "cluster ????! A holiday, that was NOT a holiday! And an experience we do not want ever again! At the point of repeating myself "it was basically catastrophic! ||Other points to note: -T||The hotel was NOT "child free!"||The safety culture observed by the hotel around the pools and foreshore was virtually non existent to the point of being illegal!|| A swimming area in the bay was buoyed off, whist swimmers were doing lengths there an absolute IDIOT in the same are with a spear gun!|| The manager of the Pizza restaurant was "rude and seemed like he did not care and was not really bothered. The food was undercooked on the bottom and burnt on one side. We did not believe this could happen twice but it did????????????||The breakfast buffet was a shambles, lack of dishes and cutlery, food not cooked properly (Bacon in particular), fried eggs that would make good paper weights! Egg station advertised BUT NOT PRESENT!|| Effectively once in the hotel your are corralled into using expensive restaurants unless you walk through a building site, and or pay for taxis to get to/from the Bay area.|| The hotel offers little or no amenities like a shop, just machines with expensive snacks in them, for anything else you are a taxi ride or walk away!||||The added barb is that, we have to sit here in our own time, writing about a 100%, 18 carat, 21 jewel, pure, unadulterated gold plated mess, which was an expensive buy!||||In conclusion, it would seem to us from information given during the booking, and subsequently during your meeting with Mrs ??on Thursday last, that you as the travel agent, were not aware of what this Meliena Hotel Group were actually doing! Having been in management, and having been a company owner in a fast moving dangerous business I have to say, I find it strange that, the travel agent did not have up to date and fully accurate information on what they were selling to their client! One would have to suggest that the travel agent should log this with whoever the travel monitoring body is, to ensure that others are not drawn into the same rather...
Read moreWe arrived to a friendly reception only yo find that our contact booking details were for a completely different person surname and stay dates were the only correct thing? Surely that goes against the data protection act?||Our room wasnt ready which we totally expected as only arrived late morning but were shown to a courtesy room to change into our swimwear to make use of day .||We had some lunch and looked around a sunbathe and room was ready .||I requested a high room but unfortunately we got level one ground floor room , nice view facing the casino but what we didn't know was that the small pool area which they called the beach club no longer was for use of residence of hotel but was rented to students so every when we were having our afternoon coffee about 5,pm sat on our balcony we were faced with loads of young students all socialising and playing loud music just a few feet away from us!!||It went on for a few hours everyday .||Rooms are clean and ok bit nothing like the photos shown on the website very very dated , you got a complementary bottle of water on your 1st night only .||There are no water dispensers anywhere in hotel only at breakfast and it tells you not to fill containers there. Your only other option at the hotel is to pay over €5 euros fir a litre bottle of water from the self service Hub shop in the reception area . terrible for a "luxury hotel" ||We thought the safe was broken as Just a hole where the key should go , but if you go to reception they give you a key block to put in hole so you can use safe ,but then you still have to hide your key ,should be updated to a touch pad . They didn't give you this at check in or even mention safe.||The bathroom is spacious but beware the shower is over the bath not separate , put tap control was broken so it didn't totally switch off from the tap feeding the shower and only got worse throughout our stay , we did inform reception but it was never repaired .||Breakfast is good has dame things everyday and enough choice , plus although there's no one making omlettes like lots of hotels do you can ask and they will make you one up or cook your eggs now you like them .||There isn't a pool for the virdi you share the sister hotels pools Some pools you go through a gate using a code which is ok , the main pool is the lido which be aware is open to non residents and did seem to get extra busy at weekends especially Sundays .||There's loads of sunbeds never had trouble getting them if not by the pool there's terraces going down to sea with loads available .||The restaurants on the complex are all so lovely our favourite was the don royale ,Henry's and we had one special night at the caviar and bull all excellent 👌🏼 just pre book them on the virdi website as are open to general public too and for get busy at prime times .||All the staff are so lovely ||Now for the biggest problem !! Do t let them tell you it doesn't interfere with the public areas of hotel be suss. Can assure you it does.its not the hotels fault it they are building a huge monster of a hotel behind the two hotels it's 7 days a week there are 12 cranes going , banging and sirens all day !! The hotel is so big it blocks tbe late afternoon sun from hotel by about 4.30 round pool it's gone you go sun searching then lower down towards the sea.||Personally felt hotel bedrooms so dated and carpet going g down corridor up rooms is starting to go thread bare in places ,soon needs a major up date .||Plus side there's a bus stop directly in front of hotel for both public and...
Read moreMy sister and I had the most wonderful experience at Verdi St. George’s Bay end of February 2025 , and we cannot thank the team enough for their incredible hospitality. We felt so well taken care of due to my sisters disability.
A huge thank you to Samantha, and the entire front of house staff, the lovely gentlemen sat near the rotating doors (apologies we never got his name!) for going above and beyond to make our stay memorable and for leaving us beautiful flowers in our room!
The hotel itself is fantastic—our accessible sea view family room was spacious, comfortable, and in the perfect location for my sister’s needs. The bathroom is spacious as well the the views were absolutely stunning, and waking up to the sight of the sea each morning was truly special although it can be slightly noisy at night due to the party goers!
The entire hotel team and restaurant team were always friendly, attentive, and accommodating, ensuring we had everything we needed, including catering to our dietary requirements (HALAL) with great care. It was so reassuring to know that we were in such good hands throughout our stay.
There was also 'iseemalta' helpdesk right front of reception located in the hotel for enjoying Malta attractions. This is really useful and handy to have as we didn't have to go into the city or look elsewhere as the hotel had all the information we needed to enjoy Malta!
There's also a bus stop right outside for travelling to the nearby areas which is super convenient for those who don't want to walk too much into the city to catch a transport although Bolt is also cheap to use.
St Julians is also very close by so you can walk to your favorite food spots or just for enjoying the views.
The cafe areas were also super cute and convenient to have including the mini shop and ATM within the hotel.
The breakfast was very lovely and the area was so beautiful to sit in. I can't comment on any facilities as we didn't use anything but overall, our stay at Verdi St. George’s Bay exceeded our expectations, and we cannot wait to return in the future. Thank you again to the whole team for making our trip so special—we are truly grateful.
Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming and exceptional...
