Sharing this detailed review after staying in this resort for 7 nights: 1. Resort: Pretty decent, as we got a sea facing room, with comfy bed, and some more usable area. It had good washrooms (no jetspray if you're Indian) and a sizeable balcony. There is 1 adult and 1 kids pool (not heated) and there's a small private beach, which was nice. 2. Staff: Housekeeping staff were really good, and prompt, and so were the security guys. Although the restaurant and bar staff were slightly laid back. (may be because we are used to fast paced city life). 3. Location: Perhaps one downside is the location as it's located in a remote village of East coast, and basically nothing is near by. Bele Mare beach was 30mins drive whereas the five island jetty was 20mins drive. You have to drive at least an hour to visit West and North, and 1.5 hours to visit south. There's hardly any operating restaurant near this resort. Do not choose this resort if you don't plan to drive by your own. The location is quite remote and it feels like midnight even at 7pm. 4. Food: Decent, if not great. From an Indian tourist perspective, I wasn't quite impressed. The menu was understandably more European to cater to mostly European tourists. There was hardly 1 Indian breakfast item, if any. We didn't buy the lunch/dinner option, but it's better if you buy, as any nearest restaurant is at least 20-30mins drive. Don't plan to buy dinner once you come to resort as they will charge INR 3000 per meal. Overall a good, but not extraordinary stay. You can choose this resort if you're there for just relaxing and not travelling much (it's fine if you're happy driving). It was a good experience in a nutshell.

We are in Mauritius for two weeks. We got this hotel basically for £100 as part of deal with BA. The only reason we stayed here. Both pools good. Food plentiful. Rooms with spacious layout if you have over the gardens with terrace. Drinks cheap quality. Beer nice and cold. Location terrible. Some cheap food shacks in walking distance. If they are open. Local port good place to bargain your way to illes island using a boat. Laguna offers a free shuttle to the island if they don't cancel it. But you get only a few hours there. But it's easy enough to pay 300mur and get the commuter boat that goes every 30mins approx from 'Duex. You need a car for this resort. Local Flacq boring really. Market if open slightly interesting for 5 mins. A lot of wind here as hits the sea dead on. Not like the more upmarket resorts that have bays. Beach is man made and very small. Service feom staff I found without a smile mostly. Some nicer staff. We left early as we ended up wanting to start the lux second part of the holiday early so we moved to Shangri-la. To get you to Mauritius, the cheap accommodation if you get a deal. The free food and drinks. Can all be good. The evenings there are boring for us. We got a car and left. The rooms need a refresh badly. Food was hit and miss and for free was sometime extremely good especially when they did the steak and calamari night , very well cooked calamari. Overall I can't say too bad. But considering the level of service you can get from the naturally warm and outgoing Mauritians. This is just the naturally lower end of the scale. Adequate.

Hey guys,

If you are also surfing the web day and night for the perfect destination for your honeymoon or may be a fun vacation then Mauritius is the place for you and Laguna Beach Hotel is where your search should stop.

I went there in the last week of Feb 2014 and i must say that it was the best time to travel there. I booked my package from Strawberry Holidays - a division of Kesari Tours(Mumbai, India)since there was no tour available at that time so i had to go in for a customised one but they adviced me that for mauritius its better not to go with tour package as it costs more dont know how true is that. Anyways, we landed at the Mauritius airport and it took some time for us to find the guys who were supposed to pick us up and drop at the hotel. They don't hold any placards so it was difficult to find them. Also since my mobile was of no use as i had not activated international roaming service as it proved too costly to activate just for 5 days so i thought of getting a new sim card from the airport itself but couldn't find any here in Mumbai so contacting the pickup guys was the 1st problem i faced.

Laguna Beach Hotel is about 45 min drive may be from the airport, he roads are awesome and the discipline of drivers is worth mentioning. They are very professional and will make sure that you reach your destination safe and sound.

After our welcome at the hotel we had to wait for some time at the reception since our rooms were not ready yet. Since our flight was in the early morning so we didn't had enough sleep at night and that's why we were a bit irritated.

Once we entered the room which was on the 1st floor facing the beach we saw our room decorated and a bottle of sparkling wine and a fruit basket ready for us. Happy to see the goodies! Few min later we kind of crashed on the bed to just lay down for some time and then we went out later in the evening to enjoy the sea view and the sunset. It was just an amazing experience. Cool sea breeze with a little warm sunlight falling on us from between gaps in the clouds. You could just walk from one end of the hotel to the other and sit wherever you want, lay down on the white sand or go in the waters and play. The sand was pure white in color with no stickiness and the water completely transparent enough for you to see your own feet immersed underwater clearly.

Every day we used to get up in the morning, have our breakfast and leave for the day tour and come back in the evening. The breakfast was served was veg and non veg both. I preferred chicken sausages and egg omlet along with a fruit and a fruit juice. My wife being a vegetarian had to compromise a little since in india we get lot of good options to choose but there were very few options available. I would like to suggest that they shoud have Idli Sambar, Medu Vadaa Sambar, Masala Dosa, Utthappa also as they are very good for a healthy breakfast. At night around 7:30 dinner was served again here too i would say the non veg part was good but i was expecting some more variety of fish in the main course. Vacationing at a coastal place but without proper sea food is something which i missed a lot. Also the food was not like we usually have here in Indian Hotels or Restaurants. We Indians like spicy food and with thick gravy and lots of spices if not daily but atleast sometimes to burn our tongue ;-) For me it was a bit bland though i understand that tourists from all over the world come there so they have to keep it like that coz i know americans and europeans dont eat much spicy food.

The room provided was beautiful, the room service was very good. I dont remember the lady's name who cleaned our room but she cleaned it very nicely. The hotel staff was very friendly and professional.

On saturday night we got the opportunity to enjoy some live music with local dancers. It was also nice.

I remember Avisen The duty manager who was very good to interact with. Overall it was a very...

What an absolute gem of a hotel. From first arriving in our transport from the nearby airport to leaving this hotel we felt at home and so relaxed. We were warmly greeted by the reception team who insisted we sat in the comfortable seating in the beautifully appointed lobby whilst the came to us to fill in paperwork etc; we felt like we were visiting family right from the start. Our room was not ready, it was about 9:30 am, but we were given a tour of the hotel and then taken into breakfast and had our first of many wonderful meals in the well apointed restaurant. We had initially thought we would have to wait until mid-afternoon for our room to be ready. But that's not the way they do things at this hotel. After we had finished a hearty breakfast, we returned to reception where we were given our room card and told our cases had already been delivered to our room. After an overnight flight this was music to our ears.||Our room, one of about sixty, all facing the sea, was decorated to reflect Mauritian style. It was well equipped and had a fabulous bathroom complete with rainfall shower. The view from our balcony was to die for; the infinity pool, the beach and harbour, the lagoon with its coral reef breaking the waves about half a mile out and the coast and mountains.||The hotel has a two freeform pools; a infinity pool for adults and a separate one, for children. There were sunloungers both around the pools and under the swaying coconut palms on the hotels private beach. We never had any problem getting the lounger we wanted. ||Entertainment was available both the typical day time exercise type, although there was also a well equiped gym, and the more relaxing music and dance shows at night.||All facilities at the hotel were excellent, but the food and drink was the cream of the crop. We were all inclusive and our drinks were seleted from the hotels extensive drinks menu and were exactly the same as all drink being served. None of the sweet syrup filled almost alcholless drinks served in some all inclusives. The food was excellent with a great choice at every meal. There was a diffrent theme each day, such as Indian, Chineese, Mauritian, Romantic meals, with the reastaurant being decorated appriatley each day. Meals were relax with table drinks service and buffet style food. There was always plenty of choice and the food was well cooked, well presented and tasted great.||Whilst its possible to find much of the brilliant things about this hotel at other hotels the thing that for us made it standout were the staff. Each and everyone of them never failed to smile and go the extra mile to make sure you were looked after. People like our waitress Davina who , after noticing my wife had caught a cold, probably on the flight, made her hot ginger tea drinks at every meal, even having them delived to our room at bed time. She even made a cake for us to celibrate our 50th wedding anivesary and brought it to us on her day off. Other staff also followed suite and my wife was soon back to health. This team was lead by a very capable supervisor, Bravish, who quietly ensured each meal ran smoothly and ensured all guest were looked after and enjoying their stay. || To slightly paraphrase Arnold Schwarzenegger,...

This is a small hotel right on the coast and next to a very small port which local fisherman still use. The Hotel is clean with two levels. The rooms are retro in style with limited hanging space for clothes etc. All the rooms have air con which is required as the humidity can easily reach 90+. The bathroom has all the usual requirements such as shower sink and toilet which you would expect. The rooms are a little tired as are the rooms but stocked with plenty of plugs. Our room also had a bath in which we were surprised to see, as this is a eco friendly place. The outside spaces are meticulously maintained by a busy but happy and helpful staff. There is a local bus service which literally stops right out side the hotel. Free Wi Fi is provided on site but the signal was intermittent. Most rooms had a view of the sea and the first floor rooms also had balconies large enough for a table and 2 chairs. The grounds are stocked with local trees such as bananas and palm trees as well as some grassy areas. Again these areas are in tip top condition. The rooms are cleaned and towels are changed on a daily basis if you require it. The beds were comfortable and a good size ( Kingsize doubles ). The grounds have local birds which you can see and hear from early morning to late in the evening. The rooms are almost sound proof so very little natural noise disturbs you. There is only one restaurant which we were a little concerned about. However the food here has been varied tasty and fresh with plenty of vegetarian options. All Inclusive meant free basic drinks at the bar inc beersvwines and some spirits. There is a small man made beach with plenty of sun beds and excellent shade as well. The Hotel also provides a free boat trip to a near by Isle approx 30 mintues by a very slow boat. The near by islands has plenty of beaches and very warm water which you can swim in in safety. There is also 2 waterfalls near by 30 mintues walk. There you can see bats and monkeys if your lucky. You can also take a dip in the large rock pools. As always it is the staff that can make or break a greatholiday. The staff here were friendly helpful and professional. There was lived music and dance at least every other evening. There is also yoga and water aerobics which was well attended to help you keep your fitness up. There are 2 pools one for adults and the other for kids, which are cleaned every morning from 6am. This place was a little gem and was well worth the money. They even have a local Spa on site as well. We also took advantage of the Scuba facilities and went diving. We had a great time and saw plenty of marine life including Angel Fish, Moray Eels, Barricuders, to but a few. This has been a great vacation and I would recommend this Hotel if you are seeking a place to unwind but...
