Very disappointed on the whole with this small adult hotel. On early arrival we had a swift check in followed by an invitation to have breakfast in the dining room as our room wouldn’t be ready until 2-3 pm. No information pack was handed out or was any verbal information given to us regarding the protocols of the hotel, ie A La Carte Aqua restaurant for all inclusive diners etc., meal times, information regarding facilities available in hotel - no nothing given. Nothing in room left either, no welcome letter or basic info regarding the hotel. I felt I was checking into a travel lodge rather than a holiday adults resort hotel. No towel art either! (Just kidding!)||We had booked a beach front room which was located in a dingy corridor block under the swimming pool. Room was very small with a huge bed dominating the small space. Curtains were stained and dirty. Sliding patio door lead onto a small cramped terrace which was over full with furniture. This lead onto a small garden area and then an opening through a hedge which led down to the beach. Overall impression of room was it was dark, cell like and smelt of drains at times. We had endless problems with power cuts in our room which they stated was caused by a faulty air con system. However the hotel, instead of solving the problem they would just reset the electric cutout which would inevitably trip again, sometimes within 30 mins! We had approximately 10-12 power cuts during our stay, one had happened when we arrived in the room! ||Room wasn’t cleaned to a very high standard and sheets and towels not changed regularly. We often had problems with coffee and milk not being replenished. All in all I felt that the room was small, dark and claustrophobic and certainly not value for money being the most expensive room type in the hotel! No robe or slippers provided, tatty towels given on occasions. Not what I would expect from a Radisson Blu hotel, regardless of what country it’s located in. I would add though, the staff that were sent to fix the problems were very pleasant, arrived quickly and did their best to help. ||Entertainment was dire. It consisted of the same acts every week which provided zero vibe and monotony especially the ‘DJ” who played 3 times a week and remained in the small hut which was located near to where the entertainment took place. He had just a single speaker ‘blasting’ out the music facing the audience. There was a wind tunnel effect by this outside sitting area which meant it was freezing to sit in during the chilly evenings that were occurring due to local breezy weather conditions. A patio heater would have been nice!||Staff were pleasant but some did not understand basic English very well. In the bar it would be a pick and mix as to what drink I would actually receive during all my time there. I gave up early on ordering cocktails as they didn’t seem to understand how to mix them correctly. ||Food choices were poor. I know we were in Mauritius but there were only about 8 main choices every night in the Nautilus restaurant, with additional side choices and 4/5 salad mixes. Basic cake type deserts available, nothing of any note.||Reception was tiny, with no real place to sit down except for an uncomfortable couch and a few worn out chairs. ||Hotel shop very small and uninspiring. Didn’t try spa so cannot comment. ||When we booked this holiday we had a free all inclusive upgrade which we do not feel would have been worth the money should we had had to pay for it. it is a very limited benefit with lots off add ons for premium brands in spirits and in the Al La carte restaurant leaving minimal choices for all-inclusive guests.||Mauritius as an island is lovely, multi cultural and fascinating and we are certainly not ruling out another visit in the future. The fact was this hotel was not for us as a longer term guest of 14 nights. It would be fine for people visiting for short breaks. We also wasn’t taken with this part of the island due to the choppy seas and strong winds and realise we should have stayed on a different coast where the weather was better. That was our learning curve and in our opinion the Caribbean does it so...

We booked the Radisson blu Poste Lafayette for 9 nights for our honeymoon, which is the most we’ve ever spend on a holiday for good reasons; it should have been once in a lifetime. For context, not only had we upgraded to the all inclusive package but we had also paid to upgrade our room to the best available “the beach front superior room”. Where do I start, probably best with the positive: the view. As soon as you get out the transfer you see the beautiful beach view and crystal clear water which really is the wow factor. We were greeted by lovely staff when we first arrived, who advised our room would be ready at 2, and allowed us to use their shower rooms to freshen up and we proceeded to sit by the pool and have a spot of lunch before we were given the keys to the room. Unfortunately it went downhill from there, the lunch was terrible in the main hotel restaurant, which we thought, maybe was a one off, but unfortunately it was not, at this point we also discovered that there were surcharges on a lot of the food and drink on the menu despite us having pre paid for all inclusive. Our room was made available to us at 2, and we were shown to it by staff, only to be given a tiny room, with no where to put suitcases, and our superior beach front view was genuinely just overgrown bushes. Luckily for us we reached out to our travel agent who immediately got in touch with the hotel on our behalf, and then we had to speak to the duty manager Daniella about our issues with the room, which due to pure disappointment resulted in me sitting there in tears whilst my new husband explained the issues. Daniella was very sympathetic and offered to move us rooms but was unable to do so for 2 days, advising that what’s listed on the website is actually an ocean view room and not a superior beachfront room and she promised to speak to their management team to get this changed (although at the time of posting this review, the information has not changed at all). We went back to the room to then get given a bottle of sparkling wine; which whilst a nice touch - although on that note on the one day we thought we’d try a few cocktails they all tasted like nail polish remover. Our travel agent then re-reached out to check we were happier with the changes to which we couldn’t advise on as we hadn’t seen the room we were going to move to, at this point they reached out to the hotel again and we were told to go and speak to Duty Manager Sufyann who, in my view, dismissed our concerns with the change of room, it was at this point we gave up complaining because it was obvious nothing more would be done. We moved to the new room after 2 days, and this was far better, albeit you couldn’t walk out onto the beach as it was sold, but it at least had the room to fit the suitcases and for us to get changed with a far better sea view. The food in the main restaurant confirmed to be dismal throughout our stay, the only time I’d say it was good was breakfast, but it was the same offerings everyday so did get very repetitive. Being all inclusive also meant we could eat in the aqua 360 restaurant, which was far better but we could only eat lunch in there as every night we tried to book we were told it was fully booked. The lunch however was nice. We quickly noticed that due to being all inclusive and not having to sign paperwork which included tips on everyday, that the waiting staff didn’t come to us as much as others which was actually very disappointing. On our last day we were sat by the pool and a waiter asked the couples either side of us if they wanted drinks but didn’t even look at us. Being on honeymoon, we were given a “special” candle light dinner which was all food we could have for free on the all inclusive package, and the free massage was only for head or feet so we didn’t use that either! We’ve never been so happy to be going home from a holiday, this experience has definitely put a bad taste in our mouths about the radisson blu name, which we had previously held...

My wife and I recently spent a week at the Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort and Spa during our trip to Mauritius, and our stay was a mixed bag of delightful experiences and some disappointments.

The Good: Service Excellence: From the moment we arrived until our departure, the service at Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort and Spa was consistently top-notch. The staff members went out of their way to ensure our comfort and satisfaction, making us feel truly welcomed throughout our stay.

Delectable Desserts: The pastry chef at the resort deserves special commendation. The desserts served were nothing short of exquisite, leaving us craving for more after every meal.

Exceptional Ala Carte Dining: We found the ala carte restaurant to be a culinary highlight of our stay. The food was exceptionally tasty, showcasing both local flavors and international cuisine with finesse.

Outstanding Facilities: The resort boasts excellent facilities, including a pristine pool, inviting pool deck, and a beautiful beach with well-maintained facilities, providing guests with ample opportunities for relaxation and recreation.

The Bad: Cramped Rooms: One notable downside was the cramped accommodations. The rooms were surprisingly small, which detracted from our overall comfort during the stay.

Awkward Bed Design: Additionally, the beds were mounted on oddly high bases, posing a challenge for my pregnant wife to comfortably climb onto them, which was a significant inconvenience.

Underwhelming Buffet Experience: While the ala carte restaurant shone, the main buffet restaurant left much to be desired. The food was average at best, and themed nights lacked authenticity, often serving the same dishes under different titles.

Limited Watersports Activities: The boat house offerings were disappointingly limited, with only kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and snorkeling available. Compared to other resorts, the variety of watersports activities was notably lacking.

Scant Entertainment Options: While there was nightly music, the daytime activities left much to be desired, with a lack of engaging options. Furthermore, the cancellation of planned activities without prior notice was frustrating and poorly managed.

Noisy Air Conditioning: The air conditioning unit in our room was disappointingly loud, making it challenging to sleep peacefully. The constant noise disrupted our rest, detracting from the overall comfort of the accommodation.

Mold Concerns: Furthermore, we were dismayed to discover evidence of mold in our room. This not only raised hygiene concerns but also diminished the overall appeal of the living space.

Shower Issues: The shower in the bathroom presented another inconvenience, as it struggled to regulate temperature effectively. Water from the shower head oscillated abruptly between freezing cold and scalding hot within seconds, making it difficult and uncomfortable to shower under such erratic conditions.

Overall Impression: The Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort and Spa offers a pleasant stay with excellent service, delectable dining options, and superb facilities. However, shortcomings such as cramped rooms, limited activities, inconsistent entertainment, noisy air conditioning, mold concerns, and temperature regulation issues detract from its overall appeal. With some improvements in these areas, the resort has the potential to provide an even more memorable experience...

This place is a mixed bag. Beautiful grounds beach and pool areas. Also largely good service, a few brilliant members of staff who go out of their way. However other aspects of our stay did not feel 4* and this was reiterated by other guests that we socialised with during our stay. This does not feel like a true all inclusive. Too many supplements on food items and drinks etc. zero branded drinks which we found unusual as you usually get the option of a branded vodka, gin etc. The lunch restaurant we found was the best place to eat they did nice burgers, pasta etc but much of the menu as mentioned earlier did required supplement payments. The buffet however we found to be extremely repetitive. Night after night, stews and curries and only a small handful of dishes to choose from. One evening one of the great members of staff could see I did not really eat anything and I requested room service. He kindly brought this up and advised we would not be charged which was very appreciated. Having stayed at numerous 4 and 5 star all inclusives in different parts of the world , we had never gone to bed hungry , due to lack of food choice. There was also instances when the lunch and dinner ala carte restaurant was shut due to corporate private events which made us and other guests feel alienated as it removed food choices. We did receive a spacious room with a beautiful view which we were grateful for and did improve the overall stay. This hotel has a lot going for it particularly a number of the staff who do their upmost to make your stay enjoyable. However it feels it is not the finished article and possibly transitioned into an all inclusive without being able to offer the product I feel most customers would expect. Another disappointing aspect is that at no stage during our stay were we asked how it was going even as we checked out and settled our bill. I feel that is a basic concept you would expect in a hotel of this standard. This is an extremely quiet retreat style resort and whilst this is nice in one aspect , we were disappointed that there was only scheduled entertainment 2-3 times a week. Which in fairness was a talented band and dance act that we did enjoy when they played. However it is worth noting that during our stay it was incredibly windy some nights and there is no proper designated inside area for the entertainment so you are seated in a sandy outside area under canopies. I feel an inside area for entertainment would improve the resort especially during winter. At the price point we expected a bit more from the resort and next time in Mauritius would opt to stay elsewhere.

From bartenders through cleaners to reception. All smiley and happy to help. Nishta, the waiter, is always so bubbly and attentive. - Garden staff work very hard to keep the hotel grounds looking pristine, raking the leaves from the hallways and beach etc. - Abundance of sun loungers on beach and by the pool. - Breakfast buffet has a wide selection of foods and eggs are cooked to preference. - A la carte AQUA restaurant has lovely food for lunch and dinner with catch of the day being a personal favourite of ours - Big comfortable beds - DJ music ending at 10:30pm so you can get a good nights sleep - Day activities: bike rides, finishing, cocktail making class all very fun and delivered by friendly staff (Teeshand in our case) - Swimming area at the beach is full of fish and they provide you with snorkelling equipment if needed - Our room 32xx had a beautiful view of the ocean Cons (mainly around buffet food): - Buffet food at lunch and dinner. Probably the lowest standard I’ve experienced at a chain hotel of Radissons caliber. Meat tough and chewy, fish always cold. - No Mauritian food at buffet. They have theme evenings like Asian, Italian and Moroccan, but no local cuisine makes and appearance which is a big shame. - Not much fruit in buffet. Usually in the form of fruit salad. - Difficult to eat with dietary restrictions as the food isn’t always labelled correctly. - Buffet restaurant can get very busy at peak times and service level drops (drinks orders and clearing the tables very slow). Once we got through a whole dinner before the drinks arrived - Patchy all inclusive. Never came across this many restrictions for an all inclusive package. Half the foods at a la carte restaurant carry a supplemental charge. Coffee maker in the room carries an additional charge. - People reserving sun loungers and then not using them for half the day. Would be good to introduce a system to stop that like a paper timer or no reservation policy.
