I am so glad I decided to book this place and I wish I was able to stay more! I only met Dan, he was very available, helpful and easygoing and he gave me wonderful breakfasts. The dogs and cat are the cutest and very quiet. The room was lovely! For the bathroom I had to go to the patio, it’s not attached to the room, but its still private and it was very clean. They give you water, a nice welcome gift, a robe, towels and a yoga mat. There is a little kitchen you can use to warm up food and store your food/drinks in the fridge. I took some time to understand how to open/close the door of the room. When you’re out it won’t be locked, but there is a way to lock it from the inside. Haven’t used the pool but I thought it’d be very romantic for a couple. There is a little rooftop that’s truly lovely. I recommend renting a car to reach the place if you wanna be independent and call the host prior to your arrival to ask for directions, some locals might not know how to get there. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, it’s dirt roads once you get out of the highway but they’re easy to drive on. It’s a 10 minutes drive from the airport and 20 for the Malecon. Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality! I hope to be...
Read moreWe so enjoyed our recent stay at Casa Xochitl! Michael and Niurka, along with their sweet pup Bully, are wonderful hosts. They have crafted such a gorgeous space that we found it difficult to venture away! The house is about 10 minutes by car from the Malecon in La Paz, which was perfect as we found La Paz itself somewhat lacking in charm. The attention to craftsmanship is evident throughout, and makes one feel transported to Old Mexico. We slept wonderfully- the bed was very nicely appointed and extremely comfortable, but light sleepers may want to bring earplugs or request a fan from Michael, as the neighborhood roosters like to make their presence known. Niurka's meals are prepared con amor y sazon, and were the best of our entire trip. Her nogada and pipian sauces were absolutely delectable. Seriously, no exaggeration, don't bother going out to eat. Sunset from the hammock deck with a tray of Victoria con limon, sal, y Huichol is also not to be missed! We will certainly return next time in Baja, and hope to bone up on our spanish with Niurka before using Michael's insight to plot out a road trip...
Read moreThis place is very beautiful. It’s like it’s its own oasis, birds chirping, beautiful gardens the hosts Dan and Winn are so friendly, and they make a mean breakfast. The only thing I would say about this place is the location is very far out from the marina and the action. If you’re not driving and not familiar with La Paz, then it’s kind of out of your way. I had to take a cab from the airport, and they did not know where this place was And I also went out one of the nights and the cab driver couldn’t find me to pick me up and the cab ride back didn’t know where to go either. I travelled solo so it felt very uncomfortable to be very far away by myself, they have a very Small pool that could possibly fit four people, if you don’t wanna be too close to the others , it’s a very intimate place for a couples or someone travelling with someone else or if you plan to rent a car. It’s about 2 km away from the beach, it took me about 15 minutes to get close enough to the beach on the highway walking. It’s a beautiful and quiet place to stay at, but for me as a solo traveler, I didn’t want to stay there longer...
