We were disappointed by the lack of response to our private feedback given to avoid trip advisor review. So here we go. The house was very beautiful and the roof terrace views fantastic but we felt it was oversold and had we known about power outages, we would not have stayed there as it was very expensive when lacking in basics.||Our first evening was ruined by downstairs having a barbecue which suddenly ruined the peace as a noisy fan started and smoke belched up through a vent filling the terrace with smoke and a smell of chicken in the bedroom. We had to go out for a few hours for it to die down. ||On our second full day we had no power until 11am when Henri turned up and switched on the generator. So no coffee with breakfast. Day 3 we woke up to no power again and it just switched on again at 12.30. We didn't see Henri and had no phone number that worked and yet he was aware there was an issue as they were awaiting a new part. We felt they shouldn’t be renting it out until the generator repaired.||The morning we left we were an hour later leaving than planned as no power again and had to wait until full daylight to pack. And of course no internet during the outages.||The toilet is also in full view of a roof terrace with chairs on it so we had to tape a bin bag over the window.||We contacted Diane in private to let her know what had happened and asked for a gesture of a partial refund in recognition of the lack of power etc as there is rustic and just not as advertised. But 10 days has gone by with no response. You can make up your own minds as to whether you want to hand over full payment in advance to then be ignored when it...
Read moreWe rented our car from SJD airport at BBB (as recommended by the owner Diane of El Encanto) and that went beautifully. The drive took about an hour and a half and the road was paved until the last 8 to 10 km but really not a problem.||We stayed at the “Casita” - part of El Encanto- and it was utterly delightful. Beautifully decorated room, comfortable queen bed, and lovely porch looking out on a thriving garden of succulents and sculpture. Lots of gorgeous birds visited - and the place was peaceful, welcoming and quiet (far enough walk from the village to escape the sound of the dive shops compressors; but close enough to easily walk to the beach and restaurants). ||Town felt totally safe and restaurants were good if u enjoy seafood. ||Diq r’s place is on a road that leads to some lovely desert hiking (The Alltrails phone app was super helpful)||Beaches were essentially uninhabited - long walks on the beach seeing maybe 4 other couples - so really low key - exactly what we had hoped for. ||The best beach, Arbolito, is 5 km away and requires 110 peso fee, but worth it w very...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay at El Encanto in Cabo Pulmo. We went there for scubadiving, and the marine reserve is really worth it! The house is trully spacious and very well equiped. The interior decoration is quite unique and inspiring (as shown in the pictures). Being in the middle of nature, and given the very hot summer temperatures, be prepared to keep windows and doors open permanently and therefore be ready to meet with the local neighbors : birds (many humming birds), insects, iguanas, bats etc. That’s clearly part of the experience. Given the very remote location, you also have to cope with unexpected issues: a few power supply breakdowns (the set-up relies on a mix of solar batteries and diesel generator not always very stable), a water leak or wifi instabilities: that’s part of the adventure in such a wild environment. The only thing we will retain is the responsiveness of Diane and her local support Lupita who managed to solve the issues each time in a few hours. El Enconto is a fanstastic place to spend a few days discovering the marine reserve of...
