First thing to know the road from San Felipe to Gonzaga bay is now completely paved. South of Puerto Citos used to be a horrible dirt and sand road. Now there is a short dirt road from mile/km marker 146 to The resort. Very easy two hour drive from San Felipe, and accessible by any type of vehicle including bicycle . I first came here 50 years ago when the only real access was by small plane landed on a short runway at low tide( the runway was underwater at high tide). But keep in mind the spartan accommodations then color my experience of the relatively luxury now. This is still one of the most beautiful bays in Western Hemisphere . It remains pristine and uncrowded. | We traveled with my wife. Two of my sons, ( 40,36) my oldest sons wife and 5 grandchildren ages 8 years to 6 months. We stayed for close to two weeks and I believe the hotel requires a minimum stay of two days on the weekend and may require a meal plan. Our rooms were very clean, and beautiful with new linens. My wife brought her own lotions, soaps etc. There was air conditioning in the room though we never used it. The view from our second floor room was spectacular. Be aware there is lighting but no electrical outlets in the room. The water pressure in our shower was weak though it was acceptable in my sons room. But this should be fixed. You will have to charge your devices at the restaurant and the Wi-Fi is spotty and you pay for it 300 megabits at a time. And if you stay for for than a night or two remember it is a beach hotel there will be sand. I believe we paid approx 100$ US a night ( about the price of a Hampton Inn) and purchased the $60 a day meal plan which was a bargain. Children are less and the $40 a day plan would be sufficient and an even bigger bargain. I will try to review the bar and restaurant separately. They are both outstanding and superior to what you would find at a 4 star hotel.. if you want a hint of the old Baja ,and have little bit of flexibility and tolerance for adventure you will absolutely love this place as I and...

They do have reliable internet for ten dollars a day if you need it. No phone service outside of messenger and What’s App. But, hey you are on a quiet vacation. The rooms are comfortable with a breeze. There is air conditioning . The showers lack any water pressure. The water is trucked in and precious. The hotel runs off solar panels. That means no outlets in your room. It isn’t the kind of place you need to bring a hairdryer. Forget it. It is about the water activities. They offer two charging stations. One in the lobby and the other in the restaurant. It is very low key and everything is safe. Bring a gallon of drinking water for your room, an ez up for the beach and your swim toys. They have kayaks, stand up boards and a jet ski to rent. The boat ramp is tricky. You need to lower the air in your tires or have sand wheels for your boat. The hotel will organize fishing for you. Be sure in the email to say what date, what time, and bring your own fishing gear. They have a couple of local guys with pangas that will show up with a phone call. Things are slowed paced at Gonzaga. Things come together easily. The food is amazing. They have a green egg smoker. The octopus, the steaks and the ahi are cooked to perfection. The crispy potatoes really hit the mark. The fresh vegetables are gourmet. Everything is plated lovely with attention to details. You want good authentic chilquiles? This is the place.. The huevos rancheros are perfect with a crispy shell and...
