First off, I've been enjoying this Hacienda for years and years, and have decided it's time to leave a review. ||You need to be aware it's VERY rustic and far off the beaten path. Don't expect 5-star resort or amenities when in remote parts of Baja. This place is something that is really a treat if you like to take things slow and just relax. ||Be prepared for the worse, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. ||The door locks are often broken apart, there's often no water and no hot water, they may give away your reservations to a larger group, they finally do have wifi (Starlink), there's no emergency services nearby, the pool is often dirty or cold if it has water in it, the restaurant is decent when it's open, don't rush over for a cup of coffee in the AM as they staff doesn't get there early to put on a pot, if there's nobody there but you and friends be sure to let them know when you plan to eat so they don't send home the cook. The "suites" have working heat and A/C, but it's in Celsius. Make sure to pack extra blankets or similar if you don't want to risk it not working or the sheets not be new (seems they don't know what bleach is at this location). ||I could go on and on... but, it's most important you don't expect much. You're not in any city... your WAY out off a dirt road, through a small town of El Hongo. Even El Hongo doesn't have much. There's no "services", no gas, no repair shops, no nada. Just a tiny little store around the corner among the small homes/ranches.||BE SURE to pay for your reservations if you make them. I made reservations in March of 2025 for 10 rooms, and was called 4-days prior to the trip to be told I no longer have 10 rooms. That I only have 6 rooms, due to a large group taking over for the weekend. My reservations were for 4-days, and 10 rooms. The large group's stay is only for 3-days, yet... their money won, and I lost 4 of the 10 rooms I reserved.||Always have a backup plan when reserving in Baja!!!! They like to give away your room reservations and will use excuses as to why it's...
Read moreWell to start with we should have believed all the bad reviews but the one we listened to, was the excellent one. There was a 5 miles of dirt road getting into the place. I asked the girls at check in if there was another road, but between my little bit of Spanish and their little bit of English, we got no where. So be sure and have a good car to get in there. Then we get here and the gal's that check us in were very friendly but couldn't speak English. They pointed to our room which was about .25 miles from our car. We were the only guest with the exception of a Calif car that could have been guest. This place was desolate, nothing out there. To get to our room was over broken sidewalk really broken. Normally this wouldn't bother us but the idea of trying to get our bags a 1/4 of a mile was not what we wanted to do. We got to our room and they were still freshening it up. The room was nice. We saw it had no TV, basically no internet, and no cell service. I was surprised to find a kitchen since our paper work said we didn't have one. If I had known there was a kitchen I would have brought food since there was not much to get out there. They said they have a restaurant but it is hard to believe they will fire it up for just 2 people. There was very little eating places to be had. We never saw a restaurant outside of the resort just a few taco stands. With no internet, no cell service we were afraid something would happened to our car and we would be stranded. We were there a total of 2 hours. We are not picky people, we are not afraid people but we are cautious people and knew we didn't want to stay where we couldn't get help if needed for that special heart attack in our future. What it came down to for us was fear of being stranded. Really read these reviews and decided if you want to stay here. We were suppose to be here for 2 weeks but it was worth losing our points and money...
Read moreJust don't do it. Here's how it disappointed: Mouse droppings in the kitchen cabinets, the sponge for the dishes under the cabinets had been worn out and dirty. The kitchen had cob webs/ spiders around the ventilation hood. In the bathroom the toilet paper & towel holders were so loose it wouldn't hold either up. The bed was dirty. The linens were dirty. We started to shower and there was no hot water. We waited to find someone to come out and fix it. Grounds were littered and there were barely any guests. Grassy areas were neglected and much of the grass was tall. The pool was dirty (very dirty). The cushions in the pool area were so gross my husband didn't want to sit on them and he's rarely observant of these things. The meals in the restaurant are expensive and not very good.No one takes a credit card. No one within a 45 radius. Matter of fact you have to drive that far to get to other things beside this place. There's no wi-fi in the rooms or the reception. Only in the restaurant and the pool. We couldn't call out to RCI or anyone that didn't have whatsapp. So don't have an accident because you're out of luck. There's a rental office for balls for the facility courts but there was no one there, reception guestimated the cost at $100/pesos per ball. I went again and pushed open the door and there was ankle high water in the "game room" and it was beyond disgusting. That explained why no one was there. So unless you balls with you, you can't use the facilities. We checked out early and had to make several trips back and forth from the front office to areas with wi-fi just to get online to give the receptionist info she needed to check us out. Did the same thing to check in because they couldn't find our reservation. That should have been a red flag. For the expensive timeshare we have, this place needs to stop being an option because it's just a long, hard road to get to them only to be completely...
