Cabañas El porvenir — Hotel in Chiapas

I planned to stay here 2 nights for a quick trip to palenque ruins. The place was quite a way out from town and not on the main route between town and ruins so collectivos don't run after about 5pm which means you have to take a taxi if you don't have your own transport. For this reason I have not given the place 5 stars. Aside from the transport problem the place was wonderful. My room had the biggest bed I've ever seen in it. It incredibly comfortable too. The hammocks outside the room are wonderful and I would get up in the night to lay out there and listen to the howler monkeys in the trees. It was the most peaceful and relaxing time. The owners are very cheerful and willing to assist you with any questions you may have. There are 3 really gorgeous dogs on site who are very docile. The 2 geese on the other hand are somewhat protective of their territory. Who needs guard dogs when you have geese! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get out of town for a while but is still near enough to enjoy all palenque...

We had a wonderful stay at Cabanas el Porvenir. Israel and Maria are excellent and friendly hosts who worked hard to make us comfortable. The price is excellent -1/3 of price closer to the ruins - and included a breakfast of coffee/ chocomilk, and sweet bread. ||The Cabanas are clean and basic; not luxury. AC is provided with extra charge, private bath has warm water! Situated in ranch/farm lands, south of Palenque with the sound of cows, roosters and howlers and a view of the night sky. ||There is a beautiful swimming pool on the premises, great for kids, or the Chacamax River is nearby. Cascadas Roberto Barrios is 30 min south. The Palenque ruins are a 30 mins drive NW. Super nice and friendly family. Nice and quiet accommodation where you will find lots of nature around you. We were happy to see fireflies in the night! The place has no hot shower, but this was ok for us. They brought us breakfast in the morning in a cute basket. It was coffee and eggs with nice bread. We liked it very much.
