HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! On April 13, 2022, we parked in front of the hotel while we were checking in. Our window to our rental car was smashed and ALL 6 pieces of our luggage were stolen…literally everything we brought, including my deceased Dad’s angel pin which I carried with me always. Til the day I die, I will always believe this was an inside deal. We booked 3 rooms, but the unpleasant receptionist advised we only had two. After much back and forth and many “no, you only have 2 rooms,” we stepped away to call Expedia to confirm our reservation for 3 rooms (which was the case). When we returned with Expedia on the phone, and asked the receptionist if she wanted to speak with Expedia, she shared that she all of sudden found our 3rd room. This room delay, provided an opportunity for the theft, as they knew we were immersed in the check in process. Also, the people who work there are shady. They could be seen watching us in the darkness through the bushes while we were conversing with the person who brought our replacement rental. Any time we were outside, two men were there listening. All other staff members seemed to be in the know as well, as they all quietly chatted with each other while staring at us non-stop. There was never an apology for this happening at their facility, and they never picked up the glass from their drive up/check in area. Also, the rooms are not equipped properly with locks. There was one working lock. The chain lock was broken on 2 of the 3 rooms and there were no locks to the balcony doors. Upon speaking with others who live in (and those familiar with the area), they shared their negative outlook as it relates to the hotel and area. We stayed 1 of the 5 nights we were scheduled and left. We would have left earlier, but it was dark, snd we were advised that we should stay put rather than drive. Whatever you do…..DO...
Read moreI wanted to like this place more than I did. It has old-world charm, with the dark wood, the talavera tile and the boveda ceilings. It’s very reasonably priced, too, but you get what you pay for in a lot of ways here. Not a lot of room amenities— no mini fridge or microwave which, to be fair, is relatively rare in Mexico. But the stocked soaps and things were so cheap— like Dollar-Store cheap— they hardly lathered up. I couldn’t quite get a handle on the hours of the little convenience shop either which seemed never to be open, so no buying our own. ||||I might have been able to overlook that stuff if the ladies at the front desk weren’t so rude. At one point during our stay, I thought I lost my key. When I went to ask for another, the two clerks literally rolled their eyes at one another before proceeding to take an inordinate amount of time contacting whomever they needed to contact to come program another key. They hardly addressed me and let me know pretty late in the process that I would have to pay for the replacement… in cash. I couldn’t just add the charge to the card on file for the room. So analog.||||Likewise, later when it was time to leave, one of those same clerks simply glared at me when I approached to let her know we were checking out. It wasn’t until my husband showed up behind me that she actually addressed me, saying everything was all set. She even smiled. I couldn’t help laughing at the absurdity of the abrupt change in her demeanor. I’m not sure if I did something to offend her or if she’s just a hateful person, but she’s definitely one reason we will be staying elsewhere the next time...
Read moreWho is giving this place good reviews??? It’s a decent enough hotel but the staff are AWFUL. We booked through Booking.com and we called them to change our dates... the receptionist said she had to ask the bookings manager who was not there and when we asked when we would know, she hung up.
The staff: we asked for bottles of water. It took 20-30 mins for someone to come to our room. The next night we asked for bottles of water again and the receptionist said they don’t do that. (Even though there is usually room services trays outside peoples rooms, so they deliver food but not water.)
The rooms have no/poor wifi. We told staff and they seemed aware. They said the wifi is stronger in the lobby. Okay but that doesn’t really help me with my work conference calls.
We went for breakfast and after we ate they asked us if we had a “coupon.” We said no and then - only then, after we ate, they informed us only SOME rooms have breakfast included. Ours did not. We had to pay, not even knowing what it cost. At checkout, we paid $490 pesos for our breakfast (mine was just coffee as I wasn’t even hungry).
The hotel: no wifi in the rooms (a basic necessity in the 21st century I think). And it’s in the middle of nowhere. 45 mins to Centro historico, 15 min walk on the highway to the nearest street with decent food. No ubers available so you have to try to hail a cab off...
