We loved our stay in La Casa del Encanto.||The only thing for us is that it wasn’t on the beach or with a beach view, however being right in the village has its unique charm, and having to walk up and down the village road to the beach, allowed us to feel village life at various times in the day which was very special.||All the rooms are different, funky, and Mexican. If you are looking for 4 or 5 star this is not for you. There is no A/C however more than enough fans to keep things cool – sometimes we even turned the fans off. The open air concept is an amazing feeling which we loved, and we just laughed when a cat and a bat decided to visit our room! Every day when we returned to our room it felt more like home. At night all the fairy lights and candles are calming and magical. We always felt extremely safe, but do note that there are no room safes.||We stayed in the green coconut room, and loved having a little kitchenette, and the extra bed/space to relax. ||We do have two suggestions. Add a squeegee to the bathroom. The bathroom is small and there is no separate/designated shower stall. After showering water pooled at the front of the toilet, so that your feet were always getting wet. |And add a brighter bedside lamp as it was rather dark when reading at night.||Sadly Laura was away during our stay, we were looking forward to meeting her. Everyone in town knows her and you can feel their admiration when we mentioned her name.||Lucie and Martin were there managing everything, and they are a most special couple with warm open hearts who could answer our questions, provide local advice, and they also offer yoga and Spanish lessons.||As everyone says, Issi’s breakfasts are incredibly fresh, plentiful, varied and absolutely delicious.||My suggestion to anyone visiting Bara di Potasi is to stay at least a week. At first it does not appear that there is much to do, however this is a town that slowly unravels to reveal itself and all that it offers. Speaking Spanish will allow you to connect more with the local community, however the expat community is vibrant and welcoming. ||Do note though that there are limited restaurants in town for dinner - all the beach restaurants close at 6 and there are only a few very small family operated restaurants in people's homes, some of which may not open every night. There are also only a few convenience stores, if you need more than the basics, bring...
Read moreWe stayed at Casa del Encanto earlier this year. I won't go into great detail about the rooms, many reviewers have already done so and I agree with their positive descriptions. Suffice to say the inn is charming, comfortable, quiet, and authentically Mexican. We felt at ease and comfortable every day of our multi week stay. Laura was a kind, responsive, and helpful host. This was our first trip to the area and she was very informative in answering our questions and understanding of our concerns. The real asset of Casa del Encanto is the community. Laura, her team, and renters are friendly, helpful, and pleasant. Again and again, they went out of their way to meet our needs and ensure our comfort. The village is quiet, peaceful, and perfectly situated between a long stretch of beach and a tranquil lagoon. The locals are friendly and the snowbird community is vibrant. The local businesses can meet nearly all your needs (if you do require a little more for groceries/restaurants, the local shuttles can get you to Zihua in less than an hour). Local events like the spring festival and fundraisers offer a unique perspective and are very enoyable. Overall, we found the charming inn and quiet village life suited us prefectly. We will certainly return as...
Read moreThis hidden gem is a truly magical place. We stayed one week in the blue room on the first floor, which includes a kitchenette, and were very comfortable. (The bed was divine!) ||||Laura and her staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we also really enjoyed meeting the other guests at the communal breakfast table and in the beautiful courtyard (tropical plants, fountains, candles during the evening). The very substantial breakfasts were delicious and they were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy). ||||Laura was infinitely patient and helpful with all of my questions by email in advance and able to connect us to local services, including a charter boat trip, kayak rental and a taxi to the airport. We also got great advice about how to take the colectivo into Zihuatenejo. We are already dreaming of our next visit! ||||P.S. I am giving sleep quality a 4/5 because on the weekend there some noise into the early part of the night (10 or 11pm). It was pretty minor, but I'm a light sleeper and part of the room...
