Canadian Resort Vallarta — Hotel in Nayarit

Be advised that this place is run down and poorly managed. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the Gardner/ doorman/ handyman/ bellboy, whom asked us to wait so he could take 10 minutes to retrieve a cart to help us with our bags. We were led to an office/lobby with bug eaten cat hair covered furniture, to check in and asked by the attendant for proof our reservation. |I provided our prepaid reservation info. She insisted that my reservation was invalid and I needed to pay a cash deposit until the reservation showed up in her system. ||Checked into dilapidated room #1, where the fridge, when plugged in sent sparks flying. Then to the replacement room which stinks of humidity and is run down.||From the grounds, to the service, to the habitations. This is not and should never bear the name “Resort” in its title. We liked the place very much because it is located in a golf course and there were not many people around so it was quiet and perfect to rest. We were given a beautiful ground floor suite in front of the lake that has a beautiful view, trees, lots of birds, ducks, turtles and even crocodiles, there is a protection fence for safety and we had the chance to feed the turtles and see one crocodile very close without any danger. Nevertheless, it is a must to consider that it is approx a 15 minutes ride from the closer beach and if you do not want to walk (15 min) crossing the golf course to exit the resort, it is necessary either to drive or call an Uber (taxis are extremely abusive there). After having a hard time finding this small resort, we were pleasantly surprised at the tranquil location, value and layout. We had a king sized bed in a very large bedroom, full kitchen and wildlife, including alligators, small and very large iguanas and tons of birds to entertain us especially at the crack of dawn.||The staff was very pleasant and gracious.
