My partner and I rented a two bedroom cabin so that my mom, dad, sister and her husband come stay with us for a family visit. The journey up to the hotel was quite long, so a taxi ride from downtown Monterrey will be about 150 pesos. Marcelo at the reception was not very helpful but luckily there was someone else whose name I forget(good example that you mostly remember bad customer service experiences) and he was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. At times the whole check in process felt very unoficial and complicated, they asked for our information all over again and there was nobody to take us to our cabin, it was still a five minute walk from the lobby area. ||The cabin itself was ok, no view and there was a construction crew a couple of cabins down the road making a lot of noise.||The bedrooms and bathrooms were nice, clean and big. The lounge was really dark, there were three huge windows but two of them had unusable blinds, about 30 minutes from the time we checked in, the nice guy at the reception came to see how we were doing and we asked him about the blinds, he just said they did not work. There were only two glasses at the cabin, so we had to ask for more. It took them almost 1 hour to bring them to the cabin. ||There was a nice big table and a mini fridge which was a bit strange as outside food is not permitted on the hotel grounds and since we had no car to go down to the city we had no option but to eat at the restaurant. The food was good, for the most part the service was also good. We had a couple of attendants who were a bit forgetful and not very friendly.||On the nature aspect, it is a wonderul spot, my partner and I enjoy wildlife viewing, so this is an awesome spot for that.||On the second day I wanted to treat my mom and sister to a spa treatment and phoned the front desk, no answer, after three times trying I decided to walk to the lobby and Marcelo was there, again not very helpful, he just said he did not know anything about the spa and that If I wanted information I should go "around the corner and ask them directly".||When we checked out we asked the front desk agent if he could get us a taxi, little did we know that they were taxis piratas, with no oficial taxi plates and they wanted to charge 500 pesos just to take us downtown which is a big jump from the 150 pesos we were charged by the taxi on the way up, we had to go with this option as it was already late and we really needed to head back down to the city.||We paid about 4500 pesos for two nights and for what they charge I would expect the service to be more professional and for them to keep the place in good conditions but I would still stay there for...
Read moreWe stayed her at the beginning and end of a June driving tour of central Mexico. We paid $1250 pesos per night for a room with a queen bed during our most recent stay. My wife is from Monterrey and we have stayed here several times over the last several years. On the edge of the very large city of Monterrey, this hotel is located at the top of a mountain overlooking the city and inside of a national park/nature preserve. The road to the hotel goes through the park and is very windy and twisty as it goes up. Once you get to the hotel you'll want to enjoy the natural beauty instead of driving 30 minutes back down the mountain to the city. If you're staying at the hotel, be sure to tell the attendant at the park entrance when you drive in. He won't charge you for park entrance (it helps to have your confirmation number). ||||The hotel is not very fancy, although at one time it probably was. It is a little shopworn, but more on the cozy, comfortable, rustic side now. The rooms have fireplaces. The furnishings are not up to date, but they are clean. The restaurant is nothing special. One morning their coffee machine was broken and they had few people working there, so the staff was easily overwhelmed by a large group of people. Checking in and out was unnecessarily painful. Except for the people in reception (front desk) everyone was friendly and enthusiastic.||||Enjoying the view, the altitude, the cooler temperature and the millions of fireflies that we saw in June was an absolute delight. We will go back.||||Note that a photo that my friend took from the hotel is now the screensaver on my...
Read moreWhen we arrived to the cabin we found like 4-5 spiders without looking very deep and also found that the bed sheets were dirty, we had to go to Monterrey to buy some insecticide. The hotel has a very small pool and when we tried to go with my 2 nieces we didnt find a table, chair or a pool chaise because they only have 2 tables, 5 chairs and 6 pool chaise for all the guests, this wasnt a problem. The problem was the extremely cold temperature of the pool.||||When the cabin was clean (clean sheets, no visible spiders) we stayed most of the time in it watching movies in a projector that we bring from home. We also took a lot of walks in the mountain (this was great). ||||The bad moments we had were when we get close to the other facilities of the hotel like the pool, tennis courts, bar, etc. Plus the hotel staff doesnt help at all. If you try to stay away from those places you will have a great holiday in your cabin.||||PROS: The hotel is located in the mountain, you are sorrounded by nature. The views are great. Its pretty quiet and its great for a relax holiday (when the cabin is clean and with no spiders).||||CONS: Terrible service, terrible facilities (extremely cold pools, tennis courts in bad condition one of the courts don't have net, bikes in bad shape), the cabins are NOT clean at all, a lot of spiders in the rooms. The pictures in the website are FAR away...
