As the name suggests, it was truly a “sanctuary of serenity”. Kymaia is difficult to get to, but once you’re there, you never have to leave. The rooms are exquisite and match the tranquil surroundings. There are beautiful and airy robes and beach bags for use. A nice touch would’ve been some room slippers or beach sandals - but since they’re a new hotel, I’m sure these minor details will be fixed. I loved how the room opens up with huge windows to let the breeze in, in the morning. My suite had a cenote style private pool, which was so nice to use after a long day in the sun. The pool area was almost always empty, and the beds were spread out enough to give you privacy if you had neighbors. Food at the pool bar was amazing- light, refreshing and a great complement to cocktails or cold Prosecco. Prices were also very reasonable for a luxury hotel. Food and beverage was still cheaper than NYC restaurants. Dining in the main restaurant, Septimus, was such a treat, as the food was from famed chef Eduardo Garcia. I do have to say the breakfast, lunch, and dessert menu was more authentic with local flavors than the dinner menu. The dinner menu was a little too international for my taste. If I’m in a culinary capital like Oaxaca, I’m not looking for cacio pepe, risotto or steak. I can see how they’re trying to cater to high end clientele, but if the menu matched the surroundings it would be better fitting for those that want a true experience. I happened to get a massage at the spa, which is still under work. When it’s finished I’m sure it will be extraordinary. For my experience, the massage was only ok, a little strange to be in a huge glass empty room (although with linen curtains) having a massage. There was no light music, and the masseur did cut the 90 min massage short by about 15 mins (maybe there was a communication error?), but the hotel was good about correcting the price. All in all, this was a fabulous place, the service was great, it’s worth the price, and I look forward when I can come back and see it fully completed.

I recently stayed here, and from the very first moment, the experience was exceptional. The hotel is spectacular: it offers top-level amenities, impeccable facilities, and a beach that is simply incredible. The food is fine dining, with variety, excellent presentation, and truly surprising flavors. In addition, the hotel offers unique experiences that complement the stay, such as a spa, classes, beach picnics, gastronomic experiences, tours, and expeditions, all organized with great care and attention to detail. The place feels like a paradise far from everything—very private, peaceful, and perfect for completely disconnecting. The service and attention were second to none; at all times, the team was attentive to every detail to make my stay perfect. I would especially like to thank Aida, Fraco, Brayan, Chef Fer, Chef Brian, Sebas, Elvis, Balam, Levin, Marco, Iván, Pepe, Isabel, and Viridiana, to name just a few, whose kindness, professionalism, and warmth made my visit even more special. The combination of such a beautifully designed place, comfortable spaces, spectacular amenities, a gorgeous private beach, memorable experiences, and such a dedicated team makes this hotel a place I would 100% recommend and will definitely return to.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Kymaia hotel!

Overall exceptional service from the staff. Everyone is really friendly and accommodating. Coordinating airport transfers before hand was super easy.

The hotel is priced on the higher end for PE with only 1 restaurant for dinner (for now) which will cost you $200-300 (no alcoholic drinks) CAD a night, the food is delicious and top quality but ultimately pricey. The included breakfast is fruits, granola, yogurt and toast, coffee and juices. We were offered a concha pastry which seemed complimentary but was later charged 200 pesos. So note nothing is free unless they say. We got sick one night and the staff kindly brought us room service!

The beach front is almost empty and you can hear the waves crashing at night, it’s amazing and hard to find any hotel that has this!

Oaxaca is extremely hot so unfortunately the pool is also hot and not refreshing at all, they do have an ice bath which is a great touch.

My one complaint is the lack of water available in your room, you only get 2 bottles which they will happily refill but it’s sort of annoying to keep asking for more. I think 4 per room (2 in bathroom) would be sufficient to deal with the extreme heat. Overall a pleasant stay but expect to pay an extra 1-2 thousand...
