We’ve vacationed to Cancun five times in the past three years. We found Hotel Tequila by chance leave after leaving a less than desired all-inclusive Christmas Eve Morning. The staff at Hotel Tequila was wonderful especially the manager Juan Luis who understood our situation and was extremely accommodating to us. All the food there is home made in their kitchen, and was 100% authentic Mexican served on terracotta pottery and absolutely delicious. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there is a full tequila bar too. We got to eat our meals outdoors under a rustic thatch style hut, which added to the jungle theme.

The grounds are small but offer a wide variety of eco-culture, because they back up to a dense jungle. In the few days that we were there we saw lots of indigenous animals - Monkeys, capybaras, green jays, lizards, woodpeckers, snakes, iguanas, and bats. It was like having access to your own nature preserve. We absolutely loved it! The best was every afternoon a family of spider monkeys would come out looking for food and the hotel provided bananas to feed them.

It is a garden hotel, really a jungle hotel, so it’s not near the beach. There is a pool. Tiny, about 10- 12 rooms. Generally speaking, it’s a no frills hotel with a lot of intrinsic charm. It is very close to the road, a major highway and airport so there is some background noise, There was also no where to walk off the property - so no shopping of any kind, you would need a car or to be driven.

The hotel offers a shuttle service which was great, they can also drive you to the store, the beach, or town for a fare less than a taxi.

It’s not a five star luxury hotel. But for what it offers relative to the price there is exceptional value which is why we are giving...

I am taking the time to write this review as this hotel made an impact on me and on my family. We stayed for two nights this February as we wanted to be close to the airport for our early morning flight. ||Food- the food exceeded all expectations. The chef is extremely talented and spent the day preparing homemade food with healthy ingredients. The flavour and fresh quality of the food was unreal. We joined the chef in the kitchen area and watched him cook. The smell throughout was kitchen area had our mouths watering in preparation for supper. ||Rooms- the most comfortable bed and bedding I’ve had in a long time. The rooms are not high end fancy, I don’t want to create false expectations. But we loved the charm of the rustic bathroom and overall space. We wore earplugs as the rooms are closer to the highway but the kids did not notice the sounds of the road (too tired from busy days). I slept amazing both nights. Excellent air conditioning and very clean. ||Staff- the staff are phenomenal. It seemed they all get along really well (good team environment) and aligned all of the travel we needed to and from the resort. They made recommendations where to spend our days and all were great fits.||Facility- Our children (8 and 9 year old) were treated very well and loved the facility. Small enough for them to get around and feel safe running up to the room. Good pool. Fun hammocks. Well kept grounds. Very clean rooms. Coffee and breakfast upon waking. Supper available until 9:30 pm. cocktails/blended drinks not available while we stayed but beer and tequila available and mix available. Also amazing Paloma was available upon request. ||In summary, we plan to stay again...

Very close to the airport which is why we stayed here. There is come confusion on google maps as it is pinned a few places. Message them and they will send you exact location. If you arrive late you will need to call them via WhatsApp the number is posted on the main gate which closes at 9pm for security reason. Sending them a message is how you get in and out during the night. We left at 4am and no problem. The restaurant there is open for breakfast and I think dinner? I ate the breakfast it was ok. If you pay pesos it’s cheaper. The dinner stops at 9pm. There is a ‘bar’ but it’s really just beer and straight Tequilla. Make sure you get a room on the bottom floor as a bit less noise from the highway but note if you are a light sleeper this place might be an issue as it is loud from the highway. There is a pool but didn’t go in. They give you 2 bottles of water in the room. There is no coffee machine and everything is far so bring what you need! I gave the location a 5 star only because so close to airport. If I wasn’t staying for that it would probably be a 2 star.

Pros? Large clean rooms. Excellent and accomodating staff. Cristian was genuine, helpful and patient. Great guide. The pool is large. The water is clean and clear. This is in the jungle. I enjoyed the monkeys and wild life in the early evening. Cons? The location. The hotel is very remote. $80 taxi ride from the airport. There are no ATMs or other restaraunts within walking distance. Bring lots of cash. The food was simple, except breakfast (see photo). Prepare for biting insects in the bar/restaraunt and pool areas. A lot of noise, in the room, from the highway.
