I went there with my GF to spend a night for her birthday and it didn’t go as we hoped it would. Part of it was nature but the other part wasn’t definitely the establishment. From the moment we arrived it felt like we weren’t expected. The staff was nice but felt lost and just mentioned bunch of info without any plan whatsoever. Anyways, we get into the room, it’s beautiful, very open however, so not very intimate but you feel wrapped by nature. The main thing we want was to enjoy the bathtub and just relax in the room.
Then we realized the bathtub didn’t have hot water and with the rain outside the water was pretty cold so there’s no point of having it there.
The staff told us the room next to us had hot water and we could use it, we did, but it wasn’t convenient and the water pressure was so low it took ages to fill 1/10th of the tab before the water turned cold.
We out for dinner and when we came back the electricity was gone, it was very hot and a lot of noises from birds (expected), what we didn’t expect was the noise from the generator just below the room running on and off all night. We couldn’t sleep and it was quite frustrating.
At 5am we got hit by a big storm and without electricity internet and then water was getting into the room, we left at 6am.
Reading the other reviews, I feel like it wasn’t supposed to be like...

debating staying here a lover of nature an arty freak desiring a new fresh experience unlike any other a stargazer looking for a change
Then stay here.
Don't stay here if you're a boring golf course loving orange cheeto.
In all seriousness, this was one of the greatest experiences of my life, and stating with Andres has permernantly changed my mentality, motivation, and life.
The road isn't too bad. We made it just fine in a tiny reno kiwk hatch during a tropic storm - just drive slow and avoid the potholes.
I was concerned about bugs, but Andres has taken this into account during construction. I was bitten more by mosquitoes during the following stay at your standard hotel.
Andres, the host will go above and beyond to accommodate your needs, a point that can not be understated.
Andres, see you in a year or so buddy, keep the ojo...
Read moreIkalar is pure magic! Andres and Lalo have put so much love into the place. It’s like stepping into an art peace that speaks right to the heart. Being there allows stillness, replenishment, healing. Being so close to nature while being held in the beauty of the treehouses. There are portals and symbols everywhere. No stone is left unturned to create a space of attention and intention that is felt so deeply being there.
Ikalar is super unique and contains so much magic. It’s not something that can be written about, you just have to experience it for yourself. We felt like were home and Lalo and Andres treated us like family, inviting us into their home with so much love and care.
I would highly recommend! I look forward...
