We lived for some time in Veracruz but never had the chance to visit CocoAventura. We stayed for a night while doing a road trip with our 2 mals.||||The cabins are pretty basic and way overpriced. The mattresses are old and cheap and the pillows are a few inches thick. The toilets are not in a completely separate room which means anyone else in room hears everything when you are doing your business. There is no wifi, although 4G works well enough. On the plus side cabins have an empty small fridge and a microwave.||||As for being a pet friendly place, it basically means dogs are allowed. There are zero amenities or services for dogs, nor any reserved areas to play with them. There are no places (that we have seen) to be able to clean them from sand, sea salt, etc, other than your own shower. The staff told us to keep them on leash at all times. Also bring your own towels for your dogs since it's forbidden to use the ones the resort provides.||||Some cabins have wooden cages on the outside and some owners leave their dogs there unattended barking and howling which makes dogs in the other cabins bark too. It should be a policy to not let dogs unattended like this.||||The resort in itself is also very basic. Most walking is done in roads for cars which are not very people friendly. For a beach club it seems weird that you need to wear shoes unless you are at the beach or pool. There are also very few places with shadows to relax other than your cabin. You will also have to share the pool with locals and their noisy kids that come to spend the day.||||We didn't have a chance to try the food. There is a snack bar at the pool that closes at about 6pm and a vending machine. There is a mall about 10-15 min by car with plenty of options in the food court, although if you are looking for authentic Mexican food or simply cheaper options you will have to go to Boca del Rio, Veracruz, or bring your own food from a supermarket.||||The beach in itself is ugly. There are no palm trees nor any kind of enramada where to spend your day. Anyway, the locals enjoy riding their cars, bikes, and quads on the beach itself so forget about relaxing there.||||All in all I would not recommend the place unless you really need a place to crash...
Read moreWe are a couple with four dogs, so needless to say we have a very hard time finding good places for family vacations. We found Cocoaventura while looking for a way to take our dogs to the beach.||||We were most definitely not disappointed. For my job I often stay in luxury hotels in different places, but I am a camper at heart, so although the rooms were pretty plain, I felt absolutely comfortable. Because what is more luxurious than sleeping with your four dogs in a cabin in the jungle, a stone's throw from the beach?||||Dogs are allowed in the room as long as you take responsibility for any mistakes or hair, and they are prepared for this, having tiled floors instead of carpets, and no absorbent surfaces around ground level. Our normal procedure is always to bring a set of our own bedclothes wherever we travel with our dogs, so we never have any problems at all even with them sleeping with us on the bed. Other dogs live in the property and they roam freely, greeting visitors; also, during peak months many other guests bring dogs, so have this in mind if you have any reactive pets, though this should be obvious in a pet-friendly place.||||The place has a pool which we didn't use, because we went straight to the beach. It is a nice stretch of beach, quite tranquil with few people around most of the time, even in July. Waves are not too intense and water is shallow for at least 30-50 meters, which is good for getting into the water with them safely, even for small dogs or elderly people.||||Any negatives, like the fact that we never saw the restaurant open, were easy to ignore because we had such a great, memorable time...
Read moreFar away from civilization, this quaint pet-friendly hotel offers the opportunity to enjoy the beach in the company of your pet. While it's great to have options where to go on vacation with our pets, I think it's also important to be responsible owners.||This place has cabins (with a/c or fan), camping areas and a beach club; it has several rest areas and a pool with a slide, it would be great if they had a pool for doggos.||||Pros:||It has direct access to the beach.||Food prices are accessible.||Large camping area with soft grass.||Safe and quiet.||There's a person checking in case some owner forgets to collect the "gift" of their pet.||Staff is very friendly.||||Cons:||The service is a bit slow.||They don't clean the beach club toilets frequently.||The hotel has 3 stray dogs without leash and they get temperamental with some dogs.||Cost of the cabins seems a little bit too much.||||Suggestions:||Go prepared with mosquito repellent, after 6:00PM there...
