Unlike any hotel I’ve ever experienced. You’re instantly transported into a jungle paradise, the rest of the world and worries meltsaway as soon as you step foot at Chable. The grounds are stunning - we spent hours exploring on our bikes through the impressive, immersive and calming property. The service is impeccable, everyone was incredible, knowledgeable and so friendly throughout our stay. We were beyond relaxed here and truly never wanted to leave. Our casita was beautiful, spotless and large, from the jungle showers to the personal pool and room service, we could have been content just in our own little bubble for days. We did several spa treatments and they were unmatched to anything else we’ve ever experienced, the beautiful Mayan ceremony to start our couples experience was so special, and our therapists were magic workers. Don’t skip the hydro-pools! An absolute dream. And the food! After spending a week in Mexico City pigging out on street tacos, so we were thrilled with the healthy and balanced menu options of Ki’ol for daily breakfast and lunch (and heartier if you want!). It’s not your typical “pool side resort” restaurant, and it’s certainly not downgrade from the nicer restaurant Ixi’im- although you must try the tasting menu experience there. We dined at Ixi’im two nights (one regular menu and one tasting) and both were so enjoyable and romantic with wonderful service. The dishes are so unique with local ingredients, you truly won’t find this anywhere else. We also did the Mayan cooking experience and it was such a fun memorable experience, highly recommend! We started our days with morning meditation on the beautiful private Cenote at the spa, it made us city-dwellers feel so at peace and one with nature. Enjoy as time truly slows down for you to savor every moment and experience here. If you have any doubts whatsoever about booking this secluded luxurious romantic resort over being anywhere else (we were looking at Tulum and other beaches in Mexico before luckily finding Chable) do.not.hesitate. Pictures can’t even do the beauty here justice. You will have an unforgettable, one of a kind experience here. We dream of coming back one day soon!...
Read moreIt was great but for us did not deliver the WOW factor over our three night stay. Would we come back again 🤷♂️.
What we enjoyed: -Staff at the restaurants and housekeeping were lovely. Unsung heroes who were always happy and welcoming. -The Grounds were a beautiful mix of lush tropics and remnants of the past. -Spa -Breakfast -Rodrigo “Driver”
What was just OK: -The menus at both locations were quite small and after a few days we were wishing we had something new to try. -Our Casita: Water flowed through a gap in door one night due to heavy rain and was surprised of the gap size since being in a jungle setting. We saw an albino small lizard in our room but not that big of a deal.
What was lacking or underwhelming: -Our check in person seemed to rush us and when taken to casita, explanation of room details was hurried. -Checking in my wife and Paula who checked us in referenced a smell in our unit that went beyond musty. Paula acknowledged a foul smell and said a colleague would come by to investigate. This individual came by with a Great Value (Walmart brand) small can of air freshener and proceeded to spray various locations at floor level? Her English was not great so difficult to explain the issue. -Bed Pillows are super soft and just collapse. I was wadding them up to get support. Maybe a pillow menu or firm option when you go through your booking. -Car service cost of 6000 Pesos. I thought OK assuming a third party they needed to pay but the car service is Chable’s vehicle and employee. For the short drive from airport and back again this seemed excessive. -The website for the main restaurant shows an extensive menu but not the case when there especially since spouse has a shellfish allergy. I can’t imagine keeping the website up to date is that difficult.
Overall we are glad we tried it but with all the exceptional wellness resorts in the world, likely not repeat visit as it just did not make us feel like we can’t wait...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed at Chablé Yucatán last September, and as we were reminiscing all the properties we’ve had the privilege of staying at (think the St. Regis Rome, Ritz Carlton Puerto Rico, Secret Bay, St. Regis Venice, etc.), Chablé is by far our favorite, and we had to come here and leave a review!
The location of the property is stunning - it’s set against the backdrop of a historic 16th century hacienda, with lots of features from the original property tied in with the more modern amenities. Sometimes you’d get lucky and see the resident deer exploring the grounds, along with plenty of birds, and we even got a surprise visit from a grey fox! The rooms were gorgeous and very private, and for the vast majority of our stay, it felt as if we were the only people there.
The staff members are kind, welcoming, and eager to assist, so you never feel as if you’re an inconvenience. They were happy to converse with us in English and Spanish, and were a helpful resource in finding cool things to do both on and off property. The food was also very good (especially breakfast, with their delicious pastries and butter!) although dinner sometimes left a little to be desired.
Keep in mind that Chablé Yucatán is not on the coast, but rather tucked into the jungle 35 minutes from Merida. For my boyfriend and I, this wasn’t a concern at all - we loved exploring the small towns in the surrounding areas, talking with the locals, seeking out abandoned haciendas lost to the countryside, and swimming in the numerous cenotes in the region. However, if you’re into laying out on a beach, you won’t find that here. All that being said, a rental car is a must!
We never felt unsafe, and felt as if we were right at home. This was my first time staying here, and my boyfriend’s second time (that’s how much he liked it!), and I can’t wait to travel back to Chablé...
