We had a perfect day out here. The hacienda itself is as elegant and full of old world charm as you could hope, the pool is large and stylish, and the underground cernote incredibly clear - with fun jumping off platform and a sandy bottom in the shallower end which makes it good for kids. The grounds of the hacienda are full of huge trees that provide shade and made the whole place feel cool and breezy, despite 38 degree heat back in Merida. There are 12 hammocks in a row under some shady netting, a trampoline for the kids, as well as a lily pond to spot frogs and turtles in (the baby crocodile mentioned in another review died apparently) and grounds to explore on foot or by bike. We drank litres of aqua de limon, beers for the adults, and lunched by the pool. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the manager keen to tell us all about the place and help in any way. Six hours slipped past for adults and children alike (we were four adults and five kids aged from 1 to 8). And for most of the day we had the whole place to ourselves.||On a practical level, it was easy to get to - we didn't have our own transport, but we phoned the hacienda and they told us what collectiva (mini bus) to get. It took under an hour and dropped us at the gates. Entrance at 150 pesos was very reasonable and a lot cheaper than most other haciendas. I would thoroughly recommend it as relaxing, charming and fun. Next time I'd love to stay for...
Read moreThe cenote was stunning; a deep cave with shimmering water. Best of all, we had the place to ourselves at times. Selfishly, I hope it doesn't get much busier! The food typical Yucatecan but grilled fresh and made to order. The room was very nice - luxurious by my standards but maybe too rustic for some. The staff were very friendly, though not always knowledgeable about pricing, etc. However, the manager bent over backwards to make sure we had a good time. Very attractive grounds that were well taken care of. The pool was beautiful and there are no problems with lounging around with drinks or snacks. Technically there is wi-fi, but it is spotty. Well, it's the kind of place to disconnect anyway. I will...
Read moreWe were part of a Road Scholar tour and spent 3 nights here. It is a lovely place (actually chilly when we were there) but quite isolated and the room, although huge did not meet my expectations. We had a king bed and bedside tables but no other furniture. We had to ask for chairs and a table to be brought. We had to ask for hangers for our clothing - others had no towels in their room.. No bedside reading lamps. The food is simple but good. The friendly staff tries hard to accommodate but doesn't seem to know what tourists want. They don't take credit cards so we had to settle up the bar bill with pesos (no ATM). We never saw the manager. Too bad, because it wouldn't take much to make this...
