The property is gorgeous, serene, verdant, well-maintained, and vibrating with ancient Mayan energy. I enjoyed entering the retreat center via welcoming ceremony and solo walk through a labyrinth that helped set the stage for the spiritual retreat I was attending with TheOtherSideOfAverage.com. I was lucky to get to stay in one of the single cottages, which was so beautiful. This property is very large, with a range of accomodations. Our retreat was held mostly in a pretty palapa-like structure that afforded our group privacy from another retreat that was taking place at Shambalante. Those who work at Shambalante are wonderful people. And do not miss getting a Mayan massage by the expert therapists! Wow! I loved the food served in the dining room at Shambalante--healthy ingredients and well presented. The portions were too big for me, so I asked for half portions. I enjoyed taking solo walks to help me integrate and reflect on what I was learning on my healing retreat. I also loved the swimming pools, especially the one with a swing over it (Instagram-worthy spots throughout the property), the gorgeous hacienda, and the closing fire ceremony around a campfire. Shambalante is special and anyone would be lucky to experience it! So that readers know I am a balanced reviewer: Internet (which I tried to avoid using, but had to, occasionally for work), is only strong near the dining area/main building, so people would gather there after dinner to catch up on whatever they had to attend to back home. Also, not a lot of hot water for bathing, but I think taking cold baths and showers is...
Read moreStayed here for 6 mights as part of a larger group for a wellness retreat. This place is a hidden gem! The grounds are beautiful and lush with greenery. The labrynth walk is an epic feat of construction. The vegetarian food at the restaurant is exceptional and reasonably-priced for the quality. My family owned a vegetarian restaurant so I can appreciate how well done these healthy dishes were - the ceviche and lasagnes were excellent. The rooms were comfortable enough. The main drawback being communal bathrooms, so only a sink in the room, no toilet or shower. Also takes some time for the water heater to kick in for hot water. If you are a meat eater, you are out of luck at the kitchen. But these minor inconveniences are well worth the tradeoff. Would come here much more often if it was closer to...
Read moreI have mothing but compliments about this place, is by far the best destination i have ever stayed in many years ( and God knows I have been to plenty of fancy hotels ) this place is just magical, not only because of its architecture nature and privacy but also because of every person part of the team makes you feel immediately at home, raw , and makes you believe in the true good of humans , I hope i am able to express correctly all the good this place and its people do to me everytime I visit, I always hesitate to do a review to bring attention to it because I really wish it keeps going just the way it is . May the people who visit always do it with respect good intentions and humanity because Shambalante truly opens your eyes and heart. It did it for me . Please take care of it like is one of your...
